I think you guys should all take today off, celebrate with us and make it a 4 day weekend.
I remember those days. And, if 12 year old had her way, she would still sleep in our bed. That was a habit we thankfully broke quickly.
Good morning all. Wednesday brings teenage drama...
Hi guys, first time Dis Dads poster here
I have only tried chicken fried steak once, and that was at T-Rex cafe. I was not a fan, but perhaps that was not the best place to give it a try.
Glad she made it back safely. Hope your sleep schedule gets back on course.
Looking forward to seeing some of those pictures.
Getting ready to make the final payment for our August trip.
Booked some things but not happy with times so gonna have watch as things flush out.
Glad she made it home safe. Couple of bourbons before bed maybe?
Afternoon gents.
After a crappy night (literally. I shan't say more.) I got to sleep in 'til.... 10:15am! Woot!
Relaxed a bit. Ran a few errands. Now at work.
Still. Pretty happy that I got to sleep in.
First time since...... the 80s?
If you'll indulge me, may I also take a moment of reflection since July 1st is both Canada Day and also Memorial Day here in my province of Newfoundland...
Then, youngest dd has a sleepover tonite for her birthday. But, at least it is a three day weekend.
But then again, DS will be home from school this afternoon, which will make his Momma one very happy camper
Happy wife... yeah, that's a win.
Happy Canada Day!
It truly is a holiday, got to sleep in to 10 am. No basketball this weekend, no need to go anywhere, just time to sit back and relax.
Talked to him last night and you could hear his disappointment and then out right p offed talking about some of ones that made semi-finals. I told him that to get this far is still an accomplishment and you don't always win and that I was still super proud of him and the work he put into it this year.
My 12 year old just told me I don't have to read to her any more before she goes to bed.
Yeah, they're definitely different. MK's castle is very impressive, but DL's is like a familiar friend.Welcome. We were at the original four years ago. Loved it. When my daughter saw the castle the first time, she said, "What a cute little castle." She wasn't being snarky, she actually like the difference. May the time before your next visit go quickly.
Welcome jglor, may your dole whip always be topped up!Hi guys, first time Dis Dads poster here (I just posted my into on the intro thread).
Nice one. Happy Canada Day, ddIt truly is a holiday, got to sleep in to 10 am. No basketball this weekend, no need to go anywhere, just time to sit back and relax
Does anyone else have to endure the "birthday week?"I think they all get the same manual at some point when men are not around. Too many similarities to be a coincidence...
'Morning all...
Had to break down and come back home last night. DW had to work today, but...
I at least have today off form work. Win!! so I spent this morning paying the bills. Not a Win!!
I do get Monday off for the 4th, Win!!, but I have to work a bit on Sunday, oh, and Monday morning even though I'm "on holiday", oh, and be in the office at 6am Tuesday...
So much for wins...
Ahhhhh, the life of Norm.

Top O the Morning Dads and a Happy Canada Day to Dads from the north! DS architecture projects did not make it to semi-finals, minimum he wanted to accomplish, which both he, his team and teachers thought was a no brainer after seeing other entry's. Talked to him last night and you could hear his disappointment and then out right p offed talking about some of ones that made semi-finals. I told him that to get this far is still an accomplishment and you don't always win and that I was still super proud of him and the work he put into it this year. Also told to get the names of the kids that advanced beyond him so he could send them his Disney Imagineering business card down the road![]()

My 12 year old just told me I don't have to read to her any more before she goes to bed. Kind of sad, and kind of cool, as I get more time at night. Of course now my 9 year old is demanding Dad reading time, that use to be my wife's job. So I am still wanted by at least some of my kids.
My 12 year old does not usually climb into bed with us, but if she get's scared at night, she will climb into bed with us.
Dropped the kid off at the airport a bit ago. She is off to Holland with her Aunt as her graduation gift. Not really jealous for this trip because she will be spending two plus weeks with her Aunt. Security at the airport was intense. They had a checkpoint on the road getting into the terminal area (never had that before), police cars every 15 feet or so in the drop off area and special security carrying M-16s. What a world
My youngest is just turning 9 next month and she has already started telling me I don't need to read to her at night. Too soon.My 12 year old just told me I don't have to read to her any more before she goes to bed. Kind of sad, and kind of cool, as I get more time at night. I know how you feel. I already have one 16 year old who is too independent. I'm dreading the day when I have another...Mine is ready for me to stop tucking her in at night. So, glad that she is maturing, but also not ready for her to move on.
The world is sadly getting crazier. I travel for work and it always makes me think what could potentially happen these days.Dropped the kid off at the airport a bit ago. Morning gents.
Hope everyone is having a good long weekend.
Saw fireworks from three different locations going off last night on the drive home. Put a smile on my face.
we are going out to her parents (our friends) house in the country to shoot off fireworks, ride 4 wheelers, and drink beer, although not in that order.
We have a bug show planned for tonite,
Coming to you from plane about 3 hours away from Sydney - dang this is a long flight with total door to door trip of about 25 hours.

uh.... I have no idea what a "bug show" is?
.
It is zerfonics.
Googled that. All I got was a bunch of links to previous DDC threads... and still lost.
Zerf has his own unique way of spelling.
Morning chaps, from sunny London. Happy 4th July to everyone over that side of the pond, and there's not too many sore heads over there. If you are having second thoughts about this whole independence thing, apparently we have a slot that just opened up....
