DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
My oldest daughter wanted to go to the mall with a friend for her birthday 'party'. Our youngest had her birthday wish granted on the same day to go to Chuck E Cheese. My wife let me choose which I would do. No way I could handle Chuck E Cheese, so I did the mall. Of course, then my wife engineered it so I ended up doing both together with her, but I spent about 3 hours walking around the mall with 2 12/13 year old girls. Oh god.... Chuck e cheese might have been the better choice.

Not to be on topic but got good news from DVC yesterday. My waitlist for January 4 came through at the Boardwalk. So we are good to go Marathon Weekend. Will be there the 4th - 10th. So I guess we will be at DDC whatever number it is. Anyone else? And Randall, You can put my dates up if you want.

As an aside to anyone interested, I think registration for the races is tomorrow. Check out the Run Disney site for more information. Already registered the Pirate Princess for the marathon using the DVC pre-sale.

Don't I know it. But going to places like Justice and some type of teen jewelry store are absolutely horrible. Not that a giant talking mouse is better...Err.. Not the Disney one, the other one that is no where near as fun, and very scary looking, if you ask me.

Also, I had to mow my lawn yesterday. Having 5 acres is fun until you have to mow it. <sigh>

Made it through our exhibition season for soccer, 2-2 draw. A bit stiff this morning but not too bad.
.

Glad to hear you survived.

Morning, or closer to afternoon I guess. Saw free dining is out, have to check to see if our dates align with it, but I think our discount for the room is going to be cheaper than free dining, but need to run the numbers and check it out, if it is even available during our trip dates, at all. :)

I need to compare some prices as well. Although, I can't go any of the dates posted.

Oh, and at risk of getting in trouble with @budamacdvcr, "Let's go Blues!!!" :hippie:

We do have a diddad nemesis post. My nemesis doesn't stop by here very often, just on FB.

One of the many pleasures of single dad hood was bringing your teen daughter to the mall and shop for clothes. I would rather have my fingernails pulled out. Went into VS once for about 5 minutes. That was all I could take so I told her when she was ready, come get me outside so I can pay.
.

I tell DW that I'll take care of the shopping for all our boys. :lmao:

I think I remember chuck e cheese. Or, it may be ptsd flashbacks.

I have maybe less than .5 an acre. Mow, trim, etc in less than an hour. We have a park one block away.

Hey Guys. It's Monday already.:scared: DD's hoop team took the whole weekend and championship undefeated. Next weekend is the D1 state championships. Hopefully the good team shows up because man can we struggle at times. Have a great week all.

Morning everyone. Tennis this AM will make 4 times in a week. And, I still need to cut the weeds or grass or whatever. I'm going to start taking my meds early.

I thought you always started the med's early? HAHAHA!

DW took oldest dd bra shopping at Victoria Secrets this AM. While I at least didn't have to go, DW still had to text me about it.

Scary ins't it? With a DD13 and almost 5'9" we are well into that phase. Just count your lucky stars its DW taking her. I had to go once. It was terrible.

Been a busy weekend. We were away Friday and Saturday for a volleyball tournament with DS. Another win for the Lions, still undefeated on the year. It continues to be a frustrating season DS as he tries to figure out the coaches. He did get to start a couple of sets and then started the first two sets of the final. The weird thing is he get to play more when the coach from his club team is running the show. This is the same guy that just about destroyed him last fall and would never play him. I've coached for many years and I still can't figure these two out.

Today is the final try-out for the basketball provincial team, 4 hours this afternoon to see if he plays on the provincial team or a regional team. And to finish things off, my soccer season kicks off tonight. kind of cool up here today, hopefully it's not too cold tonight.

Congrats on the volleyball! Good luck with making the hoop squad. We'll be sending some pixie dust your way and holding our breath until Wednesday.

So the 5th anniversary is wood......is it too early to pre-order a nice, custom-made casket? ;)

Only if it's your casket and not hers.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Well, from what I see you did a pretty good job raising DD. I know someone with pliers if you decide those fingernails just aren't needed.

I don't think so. That mouse scares me.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the info earlier. If I can get DD and I registered for the 5K, I'll start booking the trip right after. We'll most likely fly down on Tuesday night and then home Sunday. Any idea what resort would make it easiest to get to the race(s)?

I say you plant lots of trees, like 3 acres of them. Then you only have to cut 2 acres, have re-forested the earth and only need about 6 beers to get through it.:music::drinking1

Been one heck of a day. Took a sick day and went to the dentist, worked out at Planet Fitness, went shopping for Confirmation gift for oldest dd, went to Mass, telephone job interview, laundry, dropped oldest at pool, watched youngest in group tennis class, picked oldest up from pool, and went to Confirmation practice.

I need to go back to work. These days off are really busy. :scared1::lmao:

Congrats to dd on basketball. I start taking my meds as soon as possible. They work better with alcohol.

Good Morning! A cool day with expected rain today. Just cloudy so far.

DD pitched a full game in softball last night for our first win of the season. As we are now 1-0, I am thinking of retiring undefeated. If the rain holds off we'll try to keep up the streak tonight.

Waiting not so patiently for the 5K registration to open. If I can get registered, DW has to let me go, right?

Yup, days off are always more work than going into the office. I need a weekend off after the weekends just to recover.

Must be the coaching!

Congrats on the win.

Must be the coaching!

Congrats on the win.

Ha! Not likely.:-) The girls played well and DD had 8 K's that really help to keep the other team off the bases. At this age, any player on first is on 3rd after the next 2 pitches typically. Not walking batters is really the key to having a good game. Thanks for the confidence boost though.

Continued prayers and pixie dust with regards to the hoop selections for Declan.

Thanks Jim.

Are they playing 7 inning games? 8 Ks in 7 innings is excellent!

Thanks Jim.

Umpire called the game after 6 innings as it got dark, but games are usually 7 innings. Yes, she did a great job for a first outing. OF course being her dad and the coach, I would like nothing more than to roll her out there every game. We have a few other girls that want to pitch so we'll have to see how it goes. While the competitive crazy nut case in me is always there, it's town youth sports and being there for all the girls is the goal. They have come a long way since our 1-11 season last year. If we can get to around .500, we should be able to make the playoffs this year. Wishful thinking and a high bar to set, but that is the goal. Great group of kids though and good families. Much less stressful than the hoop nuts.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Well congrats to the Blues (though several of their players are just hacks - Ott) as it was a great series. Too bad these two teams had to face each other in the first round as the number 2 & 3 teams based on conference standings should not meet round 1. The part that is the toughest to get over is that this knocks out about 6 weeks of one of mine and DS combined passions - we love watching the games together and talking about the series every day. On the up tick, DS is being presented an award at Sr Awards night tonight. Nobody knows what it is for as we just received an invitation telling us he is getting an award and to be there?
Oh, and at risk of getting in trouble with @budamacdvcr[/USER], "Let's go Blues!!!" :hippie:
Congrats, like I already referenced, too bad they had to meet in round 1 as that series was like a conference final. Now don't screw it up and go get a cup.

Another nice day down here. Temps are creeping up but still tolerable and humidity is not too bad.

I think that goes for anyone in this group.

I only have one so only two eye rolls (still happens too). Feel sorry for you guys with multiple kids.

Appreciate it. And now, the next time we meet up I will not hand you a pair of pliers if you ask me.

Good luck registering. I always stay at the Boardwalk and it is a quick bus trip to the starting line. Monorail resorts also work well. Also heard Caribbean Beach is a favorite but not experienced it.

Great game for DD. And of course your wife needs to let you go, after all, heard the 5K is great training for softball and/or basketball players.

Just finished registering DD and I for the 5K on marathon weekend. Looks like our first DDCC for me! Woo-hoo! Official training starts tonight. We did a quick 1.5 mile jog over the weekend and averaged a little over 11 minute miles at DD pace. The goal is to get it down to 8-9 minutes. Wish us luck. Hopefully the knee won't give too much trouble and we can do the 10K in 2018.:thumbsup2 That is the max allowed by the surgeon that did the operation.

At least you got one round. We got to watch the Bruins collapse and miss the playoffs for the second year in a row. The good part is they already announce the coach stays.:headache::mad::mad:

No, not the coach for hoops. This is her AAU team. I only coach the winter.

All registered for the 5K. Now to start booking ressie's for the weekend. I'll look into the Boardwalk and see what they have. We stayed at the Yacht Club last August and love that area. Yes, the training for DD is part of the draw. She does a lot of sport specific working out, but not a lot of running/stamina work. This provides the motivation and hopefully the positive habits and will keep it up after the event.

^^%@**&^%%%@ Now that's frustrating! Unable to book flights or ressies as the calendars are not open for January on the air or Disney sites.:headache::mad::mad: What a bunch of killjoys. Well, at least I get to say I am going.:rolleyes1

Good Day DisDads!
I saw the email for runDisney Marathon. I did NOT register.
I'm thinking MAAAAYBE registering for the Goofy in 2018. MAYBE.

Also, I ran and finished the Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon, thus completing the Kessel Run challenge. Which is Hilarious, and awesome.
It was worth it for the Millennium Falcon shaped medal.
(Sorry for posting a week late.)
