DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Mal!! How did you enjoy Topgolf? I've made it there, but haven't actually played yet. It was a 5 hour wait the one Saturday night we showed up. lol!

Don, it was pretty sweet. The firm I work for has several platinum memberships that we can "checkout". If you play during non-peak hours its free and regardless of the time, you get head-of-the-line privileges. It's a lot of fun. We were on the 1st deck, I would have liked to have been on the 3rd.

Sometimes I feel the same way. Others, I feel like whoever is watching me is going to be really, really bored.
It's more the control that bugs me.
It's one thing to climb on-board a roller coaster where all traffic goes one way and is fix to a static lane.
It's quite another to blithely hand over your continued existence to something that can and will be hacked in the middle of a chaotic open free for all.

The tracking bit of it is only a secondary peeve and more a matter of principle.
We're all giving up too much autonomy (and too quickly) in the name of convenience and worse: false security.

The Mark show, where nothing really interesting happens.
It'd be more interesting that the Rob Show, I guarantee you that much.

Good Lord!!!!
Isn't that already built into the the rather exorbitant prices they already charge.
Truth is they've just about priced me out of staying on site as it is.
We have already decided that the next trip to D'World will be off site to defray some of the costs.
(and that will be the first time we've done that in better than fifteen years).

Yeah, I agree. Lots of uncomfortable issues there.

Only because Scotty is a part of it.

:faint:

The room rates go up every year, and are already charging a premium compared to other lodging in the area. I hate to see blatant gouging like this.

Oh, for the love of Pete!

"Gouging."

No kidding.
I just looked yesterday at room rates....
"Hmmm... Stay one night at a deluxe or travel to Europe and stay a week."

See!
For that reason alone The Mark Show would be a ratings juggernaut.
(at least until they offer Scotty his own spin-off.)

:lmao:

Happy Wednesday. Day 3 of 10 hour day finds me a bit more grumpy than usual. At least tomorrow is the last one for 2 weeks.

No, but you can bring me back a Dole Whip!

::yes::

The real question is: Would you want one of those?
.

Sorry you got stuck at work. I don't know if I would want one. It would be great to drive the dds to all their stuff. I would fly to wdw if I could afford it.

Not I...
Ain't willing to give up that much control (or have my every move tracked)

Sadly, you already have surrendered control and are being tracked. Our money is tracked thru all the bank accounts, property is tracked thru gov, and location is tracked by your phone. You can move to middle of nowhere and live off the land. Sometimes, that sounds like a terrific plan. But, I would miss everything I currently enjoy in life.

Pricing themselves out of the market? I hope to continue to be able to enjoy my dvc for the next 20 + years, but at some point, I may have to consider selling it.

I wonder if this will be an a la carte structure, as I can do without Magic Band and Magic Express. I do like parking and FP. I wonder if this will impact the dvc resorts?

This is all true, but there's no need to just add to it.
I regularly leave my phone at the house or turn it off when traveling.

Yeah, I know...
nothing more than a gesture of futility, but if "they" are intent on watching
than I'm content to let them watch my middle finger from time to time.

Interesting questions...
Right now they're just gathering data and nothing may come of it, but I suspect that anything they do implement will focus first on the general travelers. I'd like to think that they wouldn't go after the DVC folk quite as quickly; possibly even advertising not being charged as a "perk" of ownership.

At least not until their total profit margins dropped to some dangerously unacceptable level.

Just dropping in to say hello. Got a few minutes to breathe here in the office. Pixie dust and best wishes to all!

I have been dealing with a cold/sinus infection/bronchitis, leading to many missed work days. Today finally feeling slightly better and trying to catch up. It's around 70 degrees here in New England so things are looking up.

Of course we keep checking out dates and potential times, but have yet to pull the trigger. This would be the first year of no Disney since 2006 if we don't end up going. Of course I can vacation on Martha's Vineyard for 2 weeks and spend less that 5 days at YC from what we have been pricing. Not a good sign. Still hoping to get there. If not, the 2017 DDCC is on the list!

Just remember, they call it Hump Day for a reason. Not in my house as everyone is not feeling well, but hopefully in yours.

That's awesome! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Well... I say you have to go again and try for the 3rd deck... and take me with you :rotfl2:

Feel better man.

It is warmer right now at Seton Hall (79) than in Miami (78). The school posted a picture of the Quad and all the kids are out there worshiping that yellow orb in the sky wondering what that thing is. The Pirate Princess is PO'ed because she has class/lab work all day.

Just did our DVC reservation for marathon weekend. We have a 1 Br. at the Boardwalk. The problem is the Sunday was booked so we have to waitlist it. Only trip this year for me is a couple of days (without tickets) on the drive back from school in May. Taking a break from Disney this year.

Sorry about that. Hope you bounce back soon.

This is really getting out of control........ Sorry to be the bearer of bad news today.

There seems to be a correlation between you posting and Disney price increases... hmmm...

I think that is the projected profit this month. :lmao:

I really enjoy going as evidenced by my long membership here as well. However, the cost is getting prohibitive. I really don't want to just use my dvc contract to just stay at one beach hotel, even if it is as nice as Vero Beach.

You need to stop posting. :furious:

Get well soon. Not in my house, although not because the word is hump day, but because the word is marriage.

Did you know scientists discovered the way to end women's libido?

Wedding cake. :lmao: :sad1:
