DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Hold onto your seats gentlemen!! This post will make a post for two consecutive days. :) THis one is actually Disney related. I need to hear more about trader sams. Anything and everything on it would be great.

Hey Carl
Haven't visited Trader Sams... but sounds delicious.

Anyone here get wild enough to earn a companion pass for Southwest Air? I'm looking to tackle that challenge next year possibly.

Tennis cancelled tonight due to rain. I was glad as I needed the rest.
I knew you cheated! :rotfl2:

It was a good battle but I allowed you to get too much of a lead mid week.

There's always next year. I did get lucky a few weeks.

Been in the hills and hollers today and was given an appreciation for the lovely place I live. Hard to believe some of the places I saw. The fitting end to the day was passing by the "Curl Up and Dye Hair Salon".

Just remember gentlemen it could always be worse.

Yep, had one for the past couple of years and should earn again for next year by the end of October.

I read this forum post ( Southwest CC - 50000 Bonus offer - Would this work? )and thought... hmmm... interesting idea. But we really haven't traveled by plane much in the past year. Recently, we have been using our local credit union's rewards card to receive cash back, so it shouldn't be a big jump over to using Southwest for 4 or 5 months. Just trying to get DW to get onboard with the idea.

Glad you got some rest yesterday... sounds like you really needed after all that tennis playing you've been doing.

Indeed... it could ALWAYS be worse. The reminders are a good thing for sure!

Day three of posting !!!! yea me.
All I am going to say is :( :( :( need to catch a break to be able to get my Disney fix.

Glad to see the sun out today. Been five days of rain. To much of a good thing when trying to get a lawn started. Definitely not something that I needed with a construction project going on as well. Looks like the rain is projected to start up again tomorrow. :sad2:

Hope everyone is doing well. Good to see Carl and Don posting regularly again.

'Morning all...
Nice to see more folks drop by. Brightens my day a mite.

May you catch that break.
I'll be needing several breaks before I can get back on property myself.

It has most certainly been soggy down here, and there's more to come.
At least I don't have to mow until it dries out a bit, so that's an upside.

What kind of construction project do y'all got going on?

Carl's on fire! You should never ask for that "break" Carl... Never know what might be sent your way! lol

You got to see the sun? Nice! Pretty much the same here, too. Wonder what Joaquin is gonna bring our way this weekend.....

I don't know about regularly, but it's been nice catching up on some of the shenanigans around here. ;)

A smile on your face is exactly what we had in mind, Rob! :smooth:

I sent you 2 vouchers when I mailed in my dues. did you lose them already?

:rotfl2:

Afternoon lads. Great to see more Dads dropping in lately, good to hear from those that made this place so welcoming and friendly when I first joined in. Not much new around here other than DW is driving me nutz with DD wedding stuff and the thing is 20 months out :drinking1

Here's to a good break or change in events to provide you and yours a nice Disney fix.

Hope you both are safe and not effected by the flooding I saw on the news. Very wet here but nothing like what I saw is going to be hitting the northeast. Everyone stay safe.

Funny how FB has taken the attention away from this group. Now it's like this space is snail mail and FB is texting. lol

Building an attached garage on the house. I've spent too much time under vehicles during crummy weather. The whole thing has been very slow going and the framers have only been able to work a day or two per week for the last two weeks. Opening up the side of the house also caused some leakage during the rains. DW is really starting to show her frustrations and the whole project.

I'm hoping for a turn out to sea. With my luck, it will turn directly into central VA. Stay dry my friend.

Hope the project can get back on track after these last parts of the system come through. Having the house open like that would definitely be stressful.

Yes... PLEASE go out to sea! Need to get the generator tonight and make sure it still spins up. Wonder if grocery stores are getting hit yet....

Sure it was...
But I can live with that delusion.
Glad to hear from all y'all regardless of the reasoning.

"My advice to you is to start drinking heavily."
May the frenzy be somewhat minimal, but I suspect it's gonn'a be quit the roller-coaster for the next little bit.

That does seem to be how it has shaken out.
My problem with "The Book" (other than it being a considerably courser medium) is that it's blocked when I'm at work. This site, they ignore, but that one... ain't happening.

May that get back on track quickly.
That's something I would dearly like to be able to add onto my house. I was spoiled with the last one we owned. Problem is that there's not quite enough room an attached 2-car, so when i get around to it I'll have to be creative with the design.

Nealy all tracks have it missing SC so we should be good (although the locals will raid the grocery stores anyway).
NOAA currently has likely landfall somewhere between Cape Hatteras and the Delaware River.
May it take a more easterly track, but both y'all probably ought to be testing out your generators if you got 'em.

No delusion.... illusion ;) lol!

Same here. Plus... the virtual keyboard on the phone just slows me down. ha!

LOVE my two car attached garage. Though I believe I may be a minority in the neighborhood who can actually park two cars in it!

I just read the discussion for the hurricane and I love how they pick and choose which model they are going to use. One one model tracks the movement closer to US coast. The rest turn the storm Eastward out to sea. It's all a guessing game at this point. Will know more tomorrow afternoon. Been a while since we played this cat and mouse game. :tiptoe:

Don't use my phone for much more than as a phone. Hate the keyboard as well and combined with the the small screen and my aging eyes, that's another strike against The Book.

It has been a good while since one skirted up the coast. another day will tell a different story. Two days and we really should know what's happening. My gut is telling me that the thing is going to scrap along shore, but unless it takes a good turn that'll bring it on land in New England.

....

Pay them off to elope.

I hear it's old timer home coming. I figured I would stop in and say hello. Hello.
Went back a few pages and I noticed I was two months back. I remember the days we could blow through 30 pages in an afternoon. I'm a FBer now. Held out for years, people bugged me to join and now they wish I would go away. Lol ( also lets me keep an eye on that whack job lake lol ) For those not on fb, he got a new row boat and the spinners are gone. But, the new trailer has blinking, neon fish on the rims. Gone getto !! Lol
Got to meet up with him again in May. Didn't get a chance in September, we were a little pinched for time and it was pouring. But, i don't know if I should push my luck more than once a year.lol
Hope all the non FBers are well and everyone is doing good.
I haven't been around to much in a long time so I don't know most of the guys anymore. Heck, I didn't even know most of the guys on the fb group.
I'm still here. We are all well, we're still spending our retirement money at the world. Just came back from a 12 day, steak, bacon, eggs, wine trip with dw at the boardwalk. I posted a lot, everyday and people think I'm Nuts. Most said " geez, is that all you do is eat and drink when your there?" Lol Had a meet up with a long time dad while we were there. Another great guy and family. ( and just another dad who looked like I was old enough to be his father ) lol.
We are going to do a 14 night trip next September. Two weeks dw has to put up with me!!!! I have another two weeks vacation to use up so I was thinking of doing a disdads, drop in visit tour next year. Not to far, maybe 5-6 states.just me solo. There are a few dads I have known and talked to for years and never met in person. There are a few I have met and haven't seen in years and would love just to stop for a hand shake ( and a hug ) !!
I'll see what I can do and see how the winter goes.
Keep in touch !!!
