DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
A long week. Been on antibiotics and steroids for a sinus infection. Really suck when you are sick and eight straight 10 hour days. Way too much work for me. But, for the good news, there is a faculty position and I meet the minimum qualifications. If I get it, it is more money and even more time off in the summer.

Hope you are back to 100% soon and good luck on the potential job!

Any idea when you are going to know? Keep your chin up.
Thanks. I'll know on Tuesday the 24th when I go back to the MD.I'm thinking it is good news because the follow-up should have been this week but the doc was out of town. Seems like if it was bad news they would have moved it sooner rather than later.

They were reporting on ESPN that Tebow learned how to throw a football. :rotfl2::rotfl2: We'll see. I'm not sure who this kid knows, but the fact that he can still find someone to pay him is amazing. Great college player, skills not attuned to the pro game.
He's a freakishly talented athlete. makes you wonder why he hasn't focused on honing his skills at another position like TE.

Happy Hump Day Guys!

Guess what? It snowed here again last night and today is another day of school closures, second one this week.
Bummer, Darcy. We've been in the upper 40s in Western PA. We have a wintry mix tomorrow but Saturday is looking like 58 degrees.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery as possible. If the antibiotics mess with your belly, get a probiotic or eat some yogurt.
Good luck with open position. More money and more time off is goal.

Hey guys!

Thought I would pop in over here for a little while and see what was going on. Things have been busy here, I have a half marathon on Sunday. Plus this ugly thing I do almost every day called work. Its highly overrated, just so you guys know.

Today marks a first for clan Birchfield, we actually have 2 trips on the books for WDW this year. Headed down for spring break (April 6-10) and then for Wine and Dine half in November! WOOHOO!

Matt
2 trips...makes for an expensive but fun time! The airfare does us in. I think we'll do 2 trips down the road in about 10 years or so once the DDs are off in college.

Happy Friday!! It's bee a long week of travel. Norm, good luck on getting closer to more money and more time off!

We are driving this trip and using my points on southwest for the trip in November. I got the family AP's for Christmas, so we are paying for room only, which give the illusion of it being cheaper.

Morning guys,

Good morning guys. Just 12 years, 5 months and 12 days before the kids start college. But I'm not counting.

Just one year, two months and 26 days until my kid is done with college. Two more tuition payments left, but then again, there is Grad School.

Happy Friday Guys!

Another day without a storm warning so we are doing good. Basketball provincial championship weekend for the club team DS plays for and I help coach. Two games tomorrow and hopefully two on Sunday.

Have a good one.

I grew up in that area and remember snow on the ground in some places until late April and then it was mud season, 2 weeks of Dog Days, frost, a day for Indian Summer, then 6 months of winter. Don't miss the weather, but I miss the area.

Only two good reasons to do it. You need it for the job you want, or you absolutely love school and don't mind poverty. I went because I had a BS in biology which was just above a degree in art history and the naval recruiter couldn't guarantee a shore based assignment. Not one of my smarter moves.

 Best wishes for the weekend games!

Got the FP+ booked. Decided I liked the old way better especially now that the kids would have been old enough to do the running. Here is what it is looking like, Lord willing.

Sunday - MK (had to add in a day per the Man Laws so will need to pick up tickets. Any suggestions?)
Monday – Check in PO Riverside, Star Tours, Muppet Vision 3D, Toy Story Mania
Tuesday – Akershus Breakfast, Disney Pals Meet and Greet, Soarin, Journey into the Imagination, Boma Dinner
Wednesday – Kilamanjaro Safaris, Its tough to be a Bug, Kali Rapids, Cape May 20th Anniversary Dinner
Thursday – Philharmagic, Winnie the Pooh, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Chef Mickey Dinner
Friday – Journey into the Imagination, Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Garden Grill Dinner

Two Words:

Student Loans!

That and money as a Grad Asst.

The thing is she wants to work in Marine Ecosystems and a Masters is the minimum you need in the field. I can see her eventually getting a PhD but hopefully some school will pay for it. Not a lot of money in her career choice.

Solid plan you got there. Depending on tickets you currently have, adding a day may not be ridiculous. Haven't tried Garden Grill for a while and would be interested in what you think.

Wow, new place around here. Lol just checking in, hope everyone is doing well. We have two trips this year. May 1 st to May 10th and September 16th to September 26 th. Anyone want to meet up let me know. I'll be in touch while we're are down there David in May.
Have a nice spring!!!
Couldn't get the ap to work so I can't see what I'm typing. Lol I'm sure you will figure it out. Lol

Another week behind me. I am feeling better finally and think most of the snot is out of my nose.

Hope you are back to 100% soon and good luck on the potential job!

Thanks. I heard a rumor today that I already don't have a chance. Looks like I'll be having a futility promotion-less drink with Mark.

.

I heard an interview where Tebow declined to try out for another position.

If you time those APs correctly, you can get two trips out of them. That lowers the cost of that trip. You still have the initial upfront cost.

Seems like time is flying. Glad to hear she is moving along. You going to spring for Grad school as well? I've told my dds I planned to fund college (if they go to state school whe I get discount), but that grad school is on them. However, with the price of tuition continuing to increase, I'm not sure how great of an idea college is anymore. It's great if the student knows their career design and needs the credentials (lawyer, doctor, teacher, etc), but the ones meandering thru are going to have a difficult time.

Hey Dave. Good to see you around these parts.

Just finished "The Empire Strikes Back". Family needed some down time.

Hi Stranger! The Zerphonics were fine. Have a couple of great trips.

Another week behind me. I am feeling better finally and think most of the snot is out of my nose. ...

Glad things are looking up

Yeah, in my youth I seemed to enjoy the change of the season. not so much now. If I could get early Fall weather year round I'd be okay with it. I wasn't happy with seeing snow flakes this a.m. At least tomorrow it's supposed to be near 60. What neck of the woods were you from? I grew up in Johnstown about 70 miles East of Pittsburgh and now lve about 10 miles north of downtown Pgh.

I was fortunate that my parents paid for undergrad, but I paid for my MBA.
When I was in Grad school, I had loans but I also was a Grad Asst and had a 40 hour a week internship. it can be done. It sucks, but it can be done!
And your daughter seems to have her act together.

I heard an interview where Tebow declined to try out for another position.
Yeah, I can't understand. Passing up on the NFL b\c you're not playing QB. Being a Steelers fan, I've thought many times how prolific Kordell Stewart would have been if he hadn't been bent on playing QB. And Cowher stuck with Stewart longer than he should have b\c Cowher's ego was afraid to move on from Stewart b\c it would make him him (Cowher) look like he was conceding to failure.

Hi Dave, thanks for checking in. BTW the app no longer works, you can just go to the web page on your smartphone. Are the girls home yet?

I lived most of my first 30 years north of you in Chautauqua County except for some college and time in The Philippines

Morning, men. Happy that the weekend is here. DW is working so I'm taking my DDs on some errands and then hope to veg out with some NCAA games this afternoon!
Off to get some coffee and pay some bills. Woo.Frickin.Hoo.

Hey guys. Hope everyone's enjoying the weekend. Got involved in a project; attempting to build a pub table for the bar area in the basement. Probably will end horribly, but I have enough beer to handle that scenario.
