DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
What if... traditionally tradition wasn’t tradition?

Tradition is tradition unless it traditionally transitions and is no longer a tradition. Then it is an old wives' tale.

Me thinks he doth protest too much.
That mutt’s growing on you I bet.

I think someone misses the pooch.....

Almost like a grandchild (not that I know thank god). You play with it for a bit and then get rid of it.

Those Curly haired Ninja skills have an upside. Mad skills with a knife.

Chuckled over that one. Imagined her catching a salmon like a bear.

We were thinking in a couple of years, when Curly will get it more. Really looking forward to the Fried Chicken on the Charleston/Savannah stretch. Never really eaten it much.Might as well start with a high bar....

Oooh, starting your fried chicken culinary tour right. Add BBQ to your list.

That’s generally how she puts her brother down mate. Salmon style. He winds her up no end and then she just beats him.

And definitely gonna hit me up some vinegar based BBQ. And brunch. And fried green tomatoes. And more BBQ. The boy will eat any part of a pig, so looking forward to taking him through it all. Jury’s still out on the grits. I was gonna do a TR called Brits, Grits and Mickey Mitts, but I don’t think I’ve got the discipline to get it done.

Just when i thought we were done arguing....

Now what? Don't like TOTWL or like new bad Wishes?

Yes. Not sure If I would want to be part of it though. Apparently you can flip your coasters to choose to partake in the antics or not.

Been there twice. Had the ketchup, large coke, and shooting straws. Not all that funny. Food subpar. Of course, i taught my dds how to shoot straws long before that.

He's still using a Gibb flip phone, so what else can he do. :lmao:

:scared1: :lmao:

I've heard good things about Turf Club. We get the one night out, so we wanted to try something new. Thought it would be fun to try and pop over to the Hangar Bar

.

Yes, the ride into DHS is nice afterwards as well, especially in the evening when everything lit up. Sounds like a great night. You're old - don't stay out past 9. :lmao:

Okay, I don't know who's wreaking havoc with the stock market today, but would you please stop? :sad2:

What happened? I'm in it for the next 30 years or so, so I don't pay that close attention.

Happy Tuesday. Babysitting the Mutt I did not want while she is working in the lab doing science stuff.

YOU HAVE TO DO 50's. Good show and food. The fried chicken is good, maybe not the best in the world but good none the less. When I took the Princess and 6 of her friends to the World, we ate there. Our "cousin" gave them carp and it was a blast.
?

Have fun with the mutt. Never done 50s. The menu just didn't appeal to me. Kentucky has the best fried chicken, and I'm not talking KFC.

I say it’s the best fried chicken in the World. Maybe not the world though.
And the PB&J shake is really good and the onion rings are awesome.

I feel sorry for you Canadians and Miami-ites. There are excellent local places with great fried chicken. I don't think i could try the PB&J shake.

Don’t misunderstand me.
It’s the best chicken in Disney World.

We have better chicken here.

Door number 2, Monty.
i taught my dds how to shoot straws long before that.
::yes::
Don’t misunderstand me.
It’s the best chicken in Disney World.
We're going to try Art Smith's Homecoming in DS in August, that's supposed to be pretty good on all that down south comfort food stuff.
Enjoying a nice Canadian evening. Snowstorm outside and a local beer and watching curling inside
:thumbsup2 Sounds good. Two more months off the beer for me. My beer has never been this cold, it doesn't normally get the chance...
::yes:: The whole Patriots/Belichick/Brady mystique is scary. It sure is fun to dream, though...
Keep the faith mate, keep the faith.
Hawks need to go on a major run here and it's gotta start tonight.
There you go mate, keep the faith....

Happy hump day, for you guys at the grindstone.

Morning, folks.
Small storm swept through yesterday, polished the roads nicely. Got out ahead of most of the traffic but it's gonna be slow for folks around here today.

I've not eaten there, but the reviews I have seen put 50s fried chicken ahead.
But! I have heard good things. :)

We had a forecast for 2 to 4 centimetres yesterday, ended up with 24. It was a very pretty drive in today but the roads were atrocious.

Maybe it was a typo?
Stay safe my friend. I need someone to get me through the SB, as it doesn't start until about midnight over here. So I'm being completely selfish.

Tradition is tradition unless it traditionally transitions and is no longer a tradition. Then it is an old wives' tale.
So you're saying it the tradition traditionally transitions? So before it becomes an Old Wives tale, it's a transient traditionally transitioning tradition?

Who knew?

Happy Wednesday. Tennis tonight. Still cold. That is all.

Don’t misunderstand me.
It’s the best chicken in Disney World.

That makes more sense then. I was starting to worry more about you Canadians.

Door number 2, Monty.
.

I didn't know we were playing Let's Make a deal? Wishes is way better. I'm worried about you 007.

Funny, I heard that from a bus driver too...

Those bus drivers are really in the know. Maybe they are the ones posting all over the Disboards.

What happened? I'm in it for the next 30 years or so, so I don't pay that close attention.
It had a couple of days of correction. Yesterday, I was down about 1.3%, which is pretty bad for a single day. Fortunately, I don't have much at all in health stocks, but they were affecting everything I reckon.

Hopefully not the NEXT 30 years. I suspect it will come crumbling down within the next year or two. It is (and has been) a house of cards and it's only a matter of time. I'm shifting much of my portfolio to bonds and precious metals to safeguard against it.

I remember the announcement on your TR. Next he will be asking for the keys to the car.

That's true of all of my kids now!

YOU HAVE TO DO 50's. Good show and food. The fried chicken is good, maybe not the best in the world but good none the less.

Sounds about right to me.

I say it’s the best fried chicken in the World. Maybe not the world though.
And the PB&J shake is really good and the onion rings are awesome.

Another reliable take. Don't worry too much about the PB&J shake. It's really basically a PB shake.

Oooh, starting your fried chicken culinary tour right. Add BBQ to your list.

That's pretty much all anyone needs.

I was gonna do a TR called Brits, Grits and Mickey Mitts, but I don’t think I’ve got the discipline to get it done.

With a title like that, it'll practically write itself!

Snowstorm outside and a local beer and watching curling inside.

That's my investment strategy as well.

I liked Homecomin' a lot. I'd have to do a side-by-side comparison on the fried chicken to be able to say if I liked that one or 50's PT better. But I liked both. Homecomin' had good mac-and-cheese, too.

Hawks big win last night against the Preds. Was only a wise a$$ to a couple of wouldn't know the red line from the blue line motor mouths - all in good fun.

Yeah I prefer HEA. Was never that into Wishes, but I only saw it twice.
You sure you two aren't married or something? Have not see HEA but DS did and he thinks its good and that the projections are awesome. He does say its missing that emotional link that the music of Wishes has but that the music is still good. This is a kid who is still pissed that they got rid of SpectroMagic. Will net get to see HEA from the park until July trip but plan to watch from possibly both Poly and TOTWL taking the work team out while there in a couple of weeks.
Did he just say cold beer???? How un-British!
We had this debate a bit back tied to how beer needs to be cold not warm.................. Gentlemen start your engines

Yeah I prefer HEA. Was never that into Wishes, but I only saw it twice.

I saw Wishes 30 or more times. I'm not just opposed to change, but it needs to be good. HEA may have good projections, but it's the fireworks and story telling that do it for me. I'm not a big of Illuminations because it doesn't have all the fireworks. The Hallowishes fireworks are the best with Star Wars Fireworks at DHS next now, because of the music and the fireworks. I like the Frozen changes at Maelstrom and the Iago version of the Tiki room.

Yup, next 30 years. Best predictor is past performance. The stock market has increased 11% per year on average for every 30 years since its inception. There will be ups and down. I now can ride out the 30 years and then move it all to cash. If I'm still alive. The only people smart enough to time the market are the ones who have it fixed.

Not married. Dan is just wrong. Why would anyone want warm beer?

I'm not a stock guru or anything, but every investment site/fund/stock specifically states past performance is no guarantee of future performance. While I agree it has historically done that, it's so overinflated now, it is only a matter of time. I'm also not a doomsday type person, but if you do investigation, there is no way it can maintain its current levels and it's been propped up so long by ghost money, it will fall. I can't predict exactly when, but it's not sustainable. Ever since the bear market (crash in 2008), it's been this way.
