DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Should I admit now that of the Monty Python films, I have only seen Holy Grail. I did see the first bit of Life of Brian years ago but stopped watching for some reason and have never caught it since. Shame.

I am able to translate Canadian and British on occasion.
:rotfl:

I remember my grandparents always watched episodes of Are You Being Served? here on PBS. I remember thinking it was awful, and I would have given anything to change the channel. So I can't necessarily trust British judgment when it comes to comedy.
I loved Are You Being Served. I loved the line about Mrs. Slocum's <small cat>

Side Note: do you know that Disboards will not allow you to use the alternate word for <small cat>? I found this out when I was telling you all about getting the kitten from the shelter last week. I had said this "been busy all weekend, I got a little <small cat> Friday night and I've been stroking it ever since". My inner 13 year old was very proud, but when I posted it deleted the word so, downtrodden, I edited the line out. :(

But I can type in bugger with abandon. Oh the joys of an American website.

Harsh. I think a few of us (well definitely me) were going down that slippery slope about your <small cat> And if you'd been stroking it all weekend......(insert your own slippery joke here)

Check it out mate, when you've got a couple of hours. You will not be disappointed, whatever the southerners say.
Speaking of comedy from across the pond, has anyone ever watched Mrs. Brown's Boys?
No, never really got into it. The girl in it is in a bit of hot water over here for being paid in the Cayman islands through a false company.

Which girl?

I have and watch all the old shows, are you being served, grace and favor, waiting for god, father ted and the queen of etiquette and a finely laid table..... Hyacinth Bucket in keeping up appearances. Lol
As time goes by is another one I watch. Ok, I’m old. Lol

Right boys. I've just got back. Resited 2 double outlets into an internal block wall with all new wiring, hung 2 mirrors, installed a new floating TV and sound bar and rerouted all of the kit so she has a clean wall with just a TV. Got to go back Monday to make good all the routing out I've done today. Mummy is a happy lady. But that's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. First one in the Purley Bar in Castle Anthrax (c) (londontime imagineering inc), gets to take Connie Booth home. In the maid's outfit.
Nice job on taking care of your Mum!

:rotfl:If only we knew someone on this board who was closely aligned to the aforementioned city of Philadelphia..........

And my oldest now has her permit. Stay clear of KY.

I agree with you. Or a country where the murder rate is through the roof.
.

I can visit 11 counties in one day at the World Showcase under the Disney security umbrella.

I think a lot of this comes from the lawsuit/liability mentality. No one wants to be held responsible, so they just try and avoid it. I've had to deal with some personnel issues at work and it's unbelievable how quickly HR will turn its guns on management. Seems like the bad apples

I get the reason why there is a process for disciplinary action. It costs more to hire/ fire / re-train / hire new workers than keeping the current ones. And, especially when you add government to it, then it just becomes a bureaucratic nightmare.

I get it that it is harder to prove school bullying, especially when there is a lack of evidence. But, when that evidence is presented, i really don't get why it gets slowed down or dismissed.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Congrats on the cruise Norm, should have made for a good week.

Use to be different back in the day, did a good job got rewarded and moved up the ladder, did a carp job got the boot. Today we need to treat everyone the same, bend over backwards for those millennials that think the companies work for them, etc. Wonder if there is any link to when we started giving out participation trophies and making sure there were snacks after every game regardless of result vs awarding those that worked harder and practiced more to kick your butt?

O.K. enough of the old guy rants.............. "get off my lawn"

Thanks. I'm looking forward to the cruise.

As for the other, participation trophies have to be 30 years old now, right?

But on the other hand, one of our local McDonald's completely demolished their store and then rebuilt it with the self-order computer stands. I get not wanting to deal with the whiner work force, but that can't be cost effective. When does that payoff happen for employees at minimum wage?

Well you made it to Friday.

DW has decided I need to eat healthier and drink less alcohol. It's not looking like a good weekend.

You saw the best one, so there's that. I wonder if it will show *******.

Yes, no British translation filter on these boards. I'd like to be in the Cayman Islands or be paid by a false company there. Either sounds good.

!

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

That's one large entrance for those poles.

hi guys!
I haven't logged in for about 300 pages now. I don't think. I've been lurking on Facebook still.

I am starting an exercise plan. I'm intentionally giving up beer until July. I don't usually drink a lot, so, it shouldn't be hard.

I just want to put on enough muscle tone that when my wife introduces me to people, she doesn't mumble it under her breath, like, "yeah, that's the loser I got stuck with as a consolation prize."

We'll see where I am in summer.

I hope everyone here is safe. and Sound.

*DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE*

Watching The Godfather on Netflix. It's been a long time since I've seen it.

Good to see you. Don't make it another 300 before you stop back by. Good luck on the exercise plan.

Congrats to your oldest and boo to the missus.

Thanks.

She's married to the guy who plays the son who is the priest.
I still lmao at her/his Christmas shows. The only way I see any of the is on you tube.
Another series I liked to watch that isn't on anymore, I believe it was called family?
The father was a dentist. Last I looked into buying that DVD set it wasn't sold in the American format.

One of the Christmas shows was the first one that I saw, it was hilarious.

I haven't heard of the other one you mention.
