Top O the Mornin Dads! Nice start to the NHL last night and my Hawks open tonight.


Got a ton of stuff to get done today with taking a 3 day weekend. It's budget / strategy cycle for 2018 with a look out to 2022 plus way too much "can't fix stupid" around here with the day-to-day operations. If I don't check in over the next few days have a great weekend and Dan do not forget to call it tomorrow afternoon

Month-End closing going on, so I'm not as able to keep up 'round here.

Had a good birthday overall. Monsoon type rain and 50 mile wind gusts kind of limited what I could do outside. The Pirate Princess and I want out to one of our favorite Italian places for dinner. Sat at the bar, good food, good conversation. Ended the meal splitting a glass of Sambuca. Enjoyed it immensely.

Evening chaps. Craft Day number 2, the Nightmare stuff is coming along nicely. Gym, because as Norm alluded to, you can never have enuff buff. Pizza with the kids, so all good. But that wiped out all the good in the gym.

In 24 hrs of taking the post I have been asked:
a. Am I happy with the current arrangements for the stalls of the Xmas Bazaar? (this would have an assumption I have the first bloody clue what the current arrangements are, as the person who sent me this email didn't attach anything)
b. Am I happy for the current Christmas Card Co-ordinator (such a role exists?) to stay in her current position? Happy for you guys to take a vote, I always think like Alfred Hitchcock, fire someone early to establish your authority. Or should I aim for someone in a higher position? Maybe the Easter Bunny booker?
c. Can I assign someone for the rota on the christmas stalls (palmed that one off to the vice chair).

Hopefully as you can see, I am taking a lot of this in the style I generally ran projects, with a massive dose of bemusement.
This could be fun.

Answers...to (hopefully) increase the bemusement and throw them in a tizzy...
a. Absolutely not! How could anyone be happy with the current arrangements?? It must be fixed immediately!
b. I am very pleased. They should get a 10% raise...they're doing such a fine job.
c. No. I think the rota is more than capable of managing itself...no need to micro manage.

I think you need a dart board with the different answers pasted on it or get a magic eight ball. Best management decision making tools ever.

I've just given the CC Co-ordinator a 15% raise on your recommendation, I'm sure she will appreciate the zero increase in her net wealth. Obviously I pointed out as she now has a raise, I expect her to work longer and harder.

So much for Fall Break. Looks like I get another vacation attacked by a hurricane, and it even followed us over to the Gulf side. Last year, we cancelled Vero Beach Resort as the area was under a Hurricane Warning. The place we are going isn't under a hurricane yet, but it has the potential. Maybe we will arrive Saturday and the storm should hit that night.

Happy Friday dads. I'm actually taking a day off work today and giving myself a four day weekend. Canadian Thanksgiving coming up on Monday. My in-laws are out of town this year, we normally go to their place for dinner. So DW has picked up the turkey and all the fixins, despite never having cooked turkey dinner before. Things could get interesting at my place.
