DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
'Morning all...
Finaly caught up again at work so now I can use some of my time unwisely again.
Might even see if I can get permission to use some vacation to extend the up coming long weekend.
We'll see if they let that one fly.

Hope you don't get bounced off United. :scared1:

Some early rain bit it turned out to be a really nice day down here. Hard not to go out and play.

The big news for this beautiful Monday morning is DS passed his test for his learner's permit. Not sure if this is a good thing or not.

And now the fun begins.

Pity. I would like her plenty, she'd just keep asking to leave me every couple of years.

That is pretty funny.

He's good. He went to volleyball practice tonight and said it was a bit sore but not too bad.

Glad it was just a bump.

Well Dads, I finally got around to fixing that oven. Element replaced with low skill level as YouTube suggested, so my qualifications were sufficient. Cooked chicken in the oven last night without any mushroom cloud so it seems to have worked.

Congrats on fixing the oven. No mushroom clouds were seen on the news.

Safe travels Mike, have a cheeky bourbon on the plane

Ditto.

Proud moment and sweet justice. My youngest dd (7th grade) is playing varsity HS tennis. She lost her singles match tonight, as the other team's coach cheated her on the score. While our coach doesn't get involved, I called out the cheating and their coach argued with me. Then, my daughter played doubles against the same opponent, and she and her partner won. And, It was the deciding match for the team win. As I walked by their coach, I smiled and waved.

Congrats to her. playing way over her age level can be tough but also rewarding.

Wasn't United's motto, "Fly the friendly skies." Another example on why I just love flying so much.

Congratulations on not killing yourselves!

That must have felt good. Nice work, DD!

Glad your caught up and back. Enjoy the rest of your evening off and get back to work.

.

It is. I don't sugar coat things, so she knows she is outmatched against the other players as there is a 4 to 6 year age difference. It does stink to lose, but seems to be handling it well, although, winning at doubles helps.

That must have felt good. Nice work, DD!

Yes, it did. I told some of the guys I played tennis about it, and they all knew exactly which coach it was before I finished the story. Sad, but yes the win tastes really good.

Morning boys from a sunny Easter Holiday London.
Getting flights last night for the Orlando trip, got a pretty good price with some miles chucked in. The website froze as I clicked "pay now" and I called CS to do it manually. Between the time that took the price had gone up £1500. CS agent said she'd call me back in half an hour with a revised price as my tickets were probably still in the system, which was skewing the price. No call back after an hour. Called them back, no apology, just got a "oh I haven't heard of that person". Stuck by their increased price and basically told me to take it or leave it. Tweeted them last night on poor experience, no response. Cashed out all my miles this morning back. Not quite being forcibly dragged off, but they wonder why everyone hates airlines. Hey ho. Off to find a new carrier.
Have a good day boys, it's so very nearly the weekend.

Well that bites, which airline is that?

Getting ready to start a 4 day Easter weekend here as well. It's also the first weekend in a long time with nothing on the schedule. :dancer::drinking1:drinking1

Good grief. Airlines seem to be located within the 7th circle of h-e-double hockey sticks these days.

Enjoy the nothingness!

We're leaving today on a spring break trip ourselves--exploring Texas and New Mexico.

Enjoy the "time off" sure the honey-do list will fill any open places on the schedule.

Have fun. If you hit the Austin area on your Texas leg of the trip let me know we can try and meet up for a drink.

Virgin. Now they are proper winding me up by sending me auto emails "why haven't you checked out, you're ready to go?" Grrrrr.
Enjoy your weekend mate, and Mark enjoy your trip. Would love to go to Texas someday.

Anyway boys......
That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out.
In the new tradition of Mike, seeing as its a long weekend, I propose a session in the Tambu lounge for a Lapu Lapu or 2, and just maybe a piece of bread pudding just to soak up the Rum. And then on to Disney Springs. Or we could just stay in the Poly and get hammered.

Oh Yes! WE have a tree down in our backyard that needs to be cut up and the clothesline needs to be put back up. There is also some painting to be done in the bathroom.

I thought Virgin was one of the good ones, oh well I guess they all have their warts.

I will be a bit late joining you, have a basketball game to play tonight.

Happy Thursday. Two more days on campus this week. 5 more years to retirement. It seems like a long time to parole.

You don't get another option, well, maybe by boat? I have the option of a 13-15 hour car ride. Not sure that is much of an option as well.

We're leaving today on a spring break trip ourselves--exploring Texas and New Mexico.

A real long car ride. Good luck.

I'm not leaving the Poly in July when we go. Sounds like a great plan.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Not in a good place these days with the workplace crap going on the past couple of weeks. Topics are plentiful and range across several areas so in short BS everywhere I turn around and I'm not sure if I can work through it. Sorry about the airline gruff Dan, Norm congrats to DD on the tennis, CJ keep enjoying the weather, to the Texas guys thought of ya during my 24 hour stay in Dallas area but only saw the inside of a board room, hotel room and car rides (out of Tito's at home so need to pick some up today for the weekend) Rob welcome back and hope you can extend the weekend. Everyone who has an extra day enjoy the long weekend. Oh and one more thing

GO HAWKS!

Tambu works to start at / wait until room opens up for us at Trader Sam's indoor area at the Poly rather than dragging our butts to DS. Also by staying at the Poly we can cap off the night with some Dole Whips at Pineapple Lanai.

Test ran the AC today in prep for summer and one of the outside units was making a loud noise. I said to myself, "Self, that can't be good." Have the AC guy over tomorrow to check it out. Fingers crossed it doesn't cost much.

Wow, you have to really love airlines these days.

Woo Hoo! Have fun.

We're leaving today on a spring break trip ourselves--exploring Texas and New Mexico.

Safe travels to the Oblivious Clan. Enjoy.

Have fun. If you hit the Austin area on your Texas leg of the trip let me know we can try and meet up for a drink.

If I lived in Austin, I would weigh 500 pounds. Was there a week and I don't think I ate anything other than BBQ and Tex-Mex.

Anyway boys......
That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out.

I have to wait until the aforementioned AC guy comes to see if I can afford it.

If you go to the Tambu Lounge, STAY OFF OF MY BARSTOOL!

Oh Yes! WE have a tree down in our backyard that needs to be cut up and the clothesline needs to be put back up. There is also some painting to be done in the bathroom.

So that is what taking it easy with nothing on the schedule looks like for you.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Not in a good place these days with the workplace crap going on the past couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear. If you need someone to maybe have an "accident," give me a call. I know a guy. Hope it gets better.

Whooo Hooo. See'ya.
Can someone please explain it to my boss that this is legit? And that I should be off tomorrow
Cliff, give him my number. Or give his to me and I'll ring him at 7AM london time to explain the logistics of the disdads londontime work rule.
If you need someone to maybe have an "accident," give me a call. I know a guy. Hope it gets better.
Or Cliff, apparently CJ can make this happen. The thing is, I totally believe this.
If you go to the Tambu Lounge, STAY OFF OF MY BARSTOOL!
C'mon, at least 2 of us will be there in July, come and claim it. I'll buy. Or Norm will. Either way it's a free vaguely girly cocktail.
well, maybe by boat?
Not in this lifetime buddy.
I don't think I ate anything other than BBQ and Tex-Mex.
You say this like it's a bad thing.
Hope the AC isn't too bad mate, I can't imagine FLA without AC.

Classic disdad effort on moving, whilst maximising pineapple based refreshment capability. That's gotta be classed as a double double.

Happy Thursday. It feels like Friday. Kids are off school tomorrow for Good Friday. Everyone else like that?

Went to youngest DD's school Easter assembly this morning. You know how if you sit in a certain seat the back of the choir director's head and the front of your child's face will exactly line up so that you see approximately 1.3% of her performance? Yeah, guess which seat I chose. At least DW has pictures and video.

Yep. Hot cross buns on the menu for breakfast.
Morning chaps. Sorted out the plane nonsense. On the good news front I got an extra days holiday from work as a thank you, so just had to cheekily extend the Florida trip for an extra night. Slight wobble as the CM said they didn't have any availability, but then he did a little pixie dust. So in the Poly for 15 nights. The thought crossed my mind to travel to Universal to check it out for a night, but then I saw the one day ticket price...:scared1:

Have a great Good Friday all.......from a very lazy London.
