DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Good afternoon boys. Back from a week on the road for work. Started in Jacksonville FL and ended in New Orleans. Stayed right in downtown NOLA as the weekend Mardi Gras festivities were kicking off. I managed to stay out of mischief. Looks like everyone is doing well.

Oh, by the way, family leaves for WDW in 5 days. I can't wait!

Happy Monday everyone. I can't believe February isn't over yet. Time is just dragging by with both jobs, driving dds to swim & tennis, and my tennis. DW and I managed to find time for date night. We went to Donatos pizza and had their double bacon pepperoni pizza and Sam Adams Draft beer. First there and it was excellent.

Did get some more good news. Landed the Beach Front condo for Fall Break (the one I had to cancel with 2nd job mix up) for $650 for the week. So, vacation time is set for the year. With the extra dvc points, we are going to try WDW at Easter in 2018 for Spring Break vacation.

That'll do. We'll take that. Probably coz I'm 5 beers in and it's only 730...

You say that like it's an abnormal thing or something wrong. :lmao:

Great Saturday,

Went out for lunch at the Ale House and sat in their outdoor area enjoying the weather. Gators lost but that was expected. Hopefully you are having the same.

Sorry about your Gators. Well, not that sorry. Ale House sounded good.

The girls usually love any excuse to shop for new clothes. You can always try what I did for family pictures a couple years ago. DW insisted I get a new shirt because the colour didn't match their outfits. I bought said shirt, carefully preserved the tags, then promptly returned it after the photo session. DW was not impressed. I thought it was brilliant.

That is impressive, but too much work for me. I'd rather just lose the money than have to make a return trip to the store. DW didn't buy me anything this time on the condition she selected what I wear for pictures.

Thanks for the support Norm, everybody enjoy your Sunday.

Glad I could help. :lmao:

.

There are certain certainties in life. Me not going back to read what I missed is one of them.

Classic disdad effort. Welcome Home.

It's always Friday somewhere.

oh... sorry.... that's five o'clock.

I claim pirate. That way, I can drink anytime, and I look down upon your silly 5 o'clock rule.

Pictures or it didn't happen. And by pictures, I mean post pictures on the girls earning their Mardi Gras beads. Do not post pictures of you earning any beads. :scared1::eek::scared1:

Just popping in for a few minutes. May even go back and read what I missed until the cold medicine kicks in.
Lots of schools closed around here for illness though I could have got it at a hops grower meeting last week. I definitely let down Team Sparrow. I had unlimited opportunity to sample craft beers but didn't take advantage of it other than a short porter and a milk stout. The porter was good, the milk stout was too sweet. I definitely prefer a dark beer. Must be genetic as they come from the homeland though after being gone for almost 400 years perhaps this is now the homeland though perhaps it doesn't exist. I almost have SWMBO convinced to put the "vacation":headache: home on the market which would then make us hillbillies.

Happy Tuesday morning fellas. Or as I like to say, "I'm only 4 days away from WDW!"

We've got one here locally and keeping want to try. I really need to try it - I've heard several great things.

Snapped a picture of dude walking through the hotel lobby. Had to do a double take as I thought it was a female going topless. Turned out, he was just wearing a t-shirt...thankfully. I'd post, but it's not exactly SFW.

Hope you get to feeling better!

Top O the Mornin Dads! As being platinum status on DCL we get to book at the earliest window, 120 day, which is today so I was up at 11:00 my time to get some of the real hard stuff and just barely got what we wanted at Castaway Cay. Let's just say that scheduling and booking systems for the parks is light years ahead of the DCL system but all is good.
I thought it smelled wet and fishy over here.
If you happen to be up and about Saturday morning and near exit 1 on I4 in Georgia and see someone driving by blowin the horn and "waving" with a finger.......... It's not me!!! Lol
Hello Dave

Hope you enjoy pancake day.
You too! But do you hide coins in the pancakes for the kid(s) to find? My mother always did this growing up and I do it with my girls. I have no idea where that tradition started, but I've always done it.

Pancake day? Why did I not know of this?
Is that just a Canadian thing? Or does it perhaps originate in the mother country? Does Dan @londontime have any insight?

We don't do pancakes, hate them. But I have known people who hide coins in birthday cakes.

I thought the pancakes was a Shrove Tuesday religious thing; emptying the larder for the beginning of Lent.

Yes, that's why pancake day is a thing, but is it only done in Canada? I don't think I've ever discussed it with anyone from other countries.

February still ain't over? Took dds to school, went to gym, went to both offices, home for laundry, took dds to swim & tennis. I've got another two months of this? :scared1:

Really looking forward to that WDW vacation in another month.

I think you have too much Northerner in ya to be considered hillbilly, but I won't tell anyone. :lmao:

 Dave. We did have some good Zerfonics with Stats earlier, somewhere in the thread.

Welcome to the new guys and welcome back old-timers.

 Shawn.

Morning Guys.

Hope you enjoy pancake day.

Mardi Gras.

!

Yeah, don't post a picture of that either. :scared1:

It's good to roll platinum. We will take a cruise one of these days.

?

Never heard of the coin thing here.

I thought the pancakes was a Shrove Tuesday religious thing; emptying the larder for the beginning of Lent.

I just thought it started as a tradition to try and fatten up since Ash Wednesday was a day of abstaining from meat and fasting (eat less food).

We do it, I think it goes back to the 16th century, which is probably why you guys do it as well. We also do pancake races in a few of the schools.

Do you do Easter eggs? That's a huge thing over here. The promo aisle in the supermarket tends to go Christmas, fitness for new year, then Easter. In April you can't move in our house for chocolate eggs that relatives have bought the kids...

Chocolate Easter eggs tend to be found in nooks and crannies around our place Easter morning...

Nope, never heard of that one. We put silver coins in Xmas pudding though.
