DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I've always felt like if I could be a CM and work somewhere, I'd want to be there. :thumbsup2

We'll start planting mid to late April or May depending on what the weather does between now and then and how warm the soil is getting. We've got the planter parked in the shop now to put on some new seed openers and get it ready to roll. I'm in the process of shopping for a newer, bigger tillage tractor...

When I was a kid my dad worked the NY State Fair and he took us there every day. A couple of things I enjoyed was when they would feed the pigs (hilarious if you want to see 1,000 pigs during feeding time) and all the big tractor manufacturers (IH, John Deer et al.) would let you climb on their newest models. We are talking huge combines, tillers and other assorted farm equipment. Much better than the stuff you could play with at the local park.

Good luck with this year's harvest.

Morning guys

Good Morning!!!

Morning, men. And happy "almost" Friday. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I was thinking that today is Friday. What a tremendous disappointment to find I was a day early. Good thing I didn't set the alarm for my wife since she's off today! :scared1:

Good morning all. Brett done the same thing many a time. What was worse was when I woke up thinking it was a work day and be halfway through getting ready to go when I realize it is the weekend. Actually got into my car and started driving to work a couple of times until I realized it was a day off. CARP!

Just wish the darn bank account was a little bit bigger. I wanted something newer than the 34 year old tractor with 7000+ hours that I have now... so I've found one that is 32 years old with 3300 hours and about 70 more horsepower that I might go look at.:thumbsup2 :rotfl:

This is the one I really want... but I can't afford to pay that much for a tractor that we'll use to pull a cultivator for a few weeks and then park it the rest of the year. I'm just trying to wait them out. It has been sitting on their lot for about a year now and they've finally dropped the price below 6 figures. Maybe they'll eventually get down to around $75,000. :rolleyes1

I think you should hold out for this one.

Played tennis tonite. Most all my injuries are aggravated. I need to install a hot tub in my house.

Playing the Australian Open are you?

I hate when that happens.

‘Morning all…
May the day treat you kindly.

Well back at it today, was tired of being laid up all day, going stir crazy. Sadly I'm not really over this, but got creative with meds to simulate being alive. Not knocking myself out by a long shot.

As soon as I got in, was pulled into the office for a sit down with a head office rep about my levels of inventory which I admit got a bit out of hand. Think I came out of it ok. Then it was disclosed to me that my buddy in the store, the one I can rely on to help out and is a positive influence to the store is being moved out. That'll make me so much smoother I'm sure. grumble.

Good that you’re healing up.
Not so good that you’re losing allies. They can be hard to replace.

The job was with a company called Koppers and the position was at a plant that produced RR ties, utility poles and other creosote laden products! I was there in mid July and I swear it was 200 degrees! At times I think about "what if". It was def an opportunity where you put a lot of effort in up front getting to know the business, but can put you on the fast track to executive management. If only 22 yo Brett was as wise as 39 yo Brett. haha.

200 degrees sounds about right for that part of the state. Certainly fells like that when the humidity is up and there ain’t a breathe of wind. We’ve all got those “what if” moments. I know my potential what ifs at the age of 22 would have taken me far away from where I am. It might have been better in some ways, but I’d never have married the girl I have or had the son I’ve got. That’s harder to contemplate. Don’t mean that I don’t wonder about it though.

Funny we think the same thing about Americans.

That’s certainly the image we go out of our way to present to the rest of the world. :lmao:

Would have been better if were a day behind rather than ahead.

That really sounds difficult to me. Glad it wasn't worse. I do track expenses monthly, but never had those phone inquiries. I pay cash for most things, except for gas which i use the credit card. I don't do much online shopping.

We use the credit card for most expenses and then pay it off every month. The points really help defer the costs of vacation. We usually have enough for flights and at least a good % of the tickets. It makes it a lot easier to keep booking trips. We had our numbers stolen twice in the last 3 years. Once I had noticed (check the account online every few days) and the other I got a phone call as they knew I was in MA based on my activity and the charges were being generated on Colorado. Pretty hard to get there in an hour from Boston.

Feel for you. Bank of America Debit Card (Got rid of all credit cards 5 years ago) problem hotline knows me by name. "Oh, CJ, its you. Lose your card again?" Also hacked multiple times. I now have one card that I use for purchases, DD has one card and there are two cards (one for the kid's bills and one for mine) that are locked in a safe and unused for anything other than monthly bills.

The last time it was hacked it was the bill only card. I found a purchase at Wall Mart, called BoA and they said, "Sure you didn't use it?" "No, its locked in a safe. Besides, its Wall Mart, I never go there." Found out through their fraud division a guy at the Mini Storage place I use, stole the card number. Both BoA and Wall Mart went after him. What sucked about it was I had to contact all the people that use it to pay bills and change cards. PITA.

Don't forget to mention that you randomly leave them at bars in Boston.:lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Glad your feeling better. So was the inventory too low or too high? My personal opinion is there can never be too much beer. Sounds like it got resolved.

Not your fault. All those Canadians look the same, like this:

Find it funny that Nemie and Paul feel the need to defend deflated balls.

Same thing happened to Carroll protege Kiffin (another scum coach) before he got fired at USC. I really doubt it mattered much, NE was clearly the better team, but I am firmly in the Seahawks camp even though Carroll is another A**. I already owe you one Jim, care to make the game interesting?

Not really defending anyone. Do you really believe that they are the only ones. I would bet every single QB has the ball how they like it regardless of the rules. Doesn't make it right, but to blow it up the way it has been done is a little ridiculous. NFL dragging it out makes no sense. Fine them $25K for each ball that was not regulation and move on.

Sure, what did you have in mind for a wager. Want to owe me more drinks? I know deep down you want a Brady game used shirt to sleep with every night. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Let me know.

If I can commit to DDCC4 by registration for the 5K, we should do it together. Not sure I will be able to run (depends not he knee and what the next surgeon up says), but a fast walk/jog would certainly be OK at a minimum. Let me know. I may try to do the 10K as well if I can get into shape. Again, at whatever pace the body allows. I know Paul will finish in about 6 minutes, so would need someone at a better pace.

Just wanted to quickly weigh in on the Pats (see what I did there?)
I certainly don't think that the under inflated footballs were a significant contributor, but it's the principal of it. This is the 2nd time that they have been caught cheating. It makes you start wondering how pervasive it really is?

IMO, the NFL needs to treat this seriously, if for no other reason, they didn't learn after the first punishment. If I recall, the NFL came down hard on the Saints re: bounties. Not an apples:apples comparison, but if you're going to punish a team bc they may have endangered players safety, doesn't a 2nd cheating offense warrant something similar? Stern lecture to the owner and coach now, followed by penalties for next year. You can't penalize folks 2 weeks out from the SB.

I still think "cheating" is a harsh description of this particular incident. Belicheck is an a$$ and likes to do this &%%#$ for some reason. He is a great coach, but his arrogance is off the charts. Just pay attention to all the talk from others that everyone does it. This whole situation should have been addressed by now. The rules are clear that it is a $25K fine minimum. How about we make a decision and then move on to discussing why Revis is better or worse than Sherman? Best SB matchup in years and no one is talking about the matchup.

The Land would be the busiest area of the park if you were the CM.:thumbsup2

Good luck getting the tractor and with the upcoming season. May mother nature cooperate fully.

Good Morning!!!

 Good Morning Everyone!

:lmao::lmao: Never actually left for work or got ready. I track those days carefully. I have forgotten to get up for work.:faint:

Morning guys. One week from now I should be on a plane headed down to wdw. :thumbsup2

Better deflated than neutered, amiright? :confused3

Still jealous. Travel safe and have fun storming the castle. I'm thinking DDCC4 is in the cards. Maybe we could book flights at the same time.

The only thing I can finish in 6 minutes is a beer and pretzel from Germany in WS...

No, it sucks mightily. I like having an accomplice to crack jokes with, and he is more even-keeled then I am, keeping me from flying off the handle, plus a good work ethic and one of the few who don't mind helping me out in the beer section when it gets busy.

The fact of the matter is there are three lesser Full timers that are there, one in particular has overstayed their welcome, that are still there. A large group of staff even had a meeting with the boss over her, but she stays.:confused3

On the one plus side, I am now the senior Full Timer (aside from Vintages and the assistant manager) so get a bit more "power". Still the days ahead look to be a bit less fun now.

Glad your feeling better. So was the inventory too low or too high? My personal opinion is there can never be too much beer. Sounds like it got resolved.

Yesterday was still pretty damn rough, needed frequent runs to the restroom and sitting down in the office to get through the night. Today so far feels much better thanks.

Hard to explain, but I had a lot of "delisted" stock on hand, meaning I was cheating the system and had a lot of excess "non moving" inventory on hand. Its close to year end and all the bean counters are looking at costs, inventory etc. This guy knew what I was playing, he plays it a bit himself, he's the manger at my old store now, and he admitted he knew my rep, but knew what I can do so more worked with me to manage it more then bust my *** over it (I was warned back in September about this already, so I should have ben more careful I admit) We are going to try and make things work in my favour. You can never have too much for some part, but on the other hand I go overboard, and have to be careful about how much I get in at a time.

Ah who are we kidding, I've been acting this way for years, I get results. 'Nuff said. :rotfl2:

Somebody needs to make a runDisney event that includes stops at all the F&W Festival booths.

Hey...

Where do I sign up?

They might have to change it from runDisney to waddleDisney though.

I'm good with that.:thumbsup2

Now your thinking outside the box. A World Showcase eating race. How fast can you eat an app and drink at each location. I'm in.

Brilliant :thumbsup2

I'm assuming you guys are all unionized and she would be difficult to get rid of because of that.

Hey...

I've been participating in this type of runDisney event for years. :lmao:

Instead of minutes, we need to measure the winner by food/alcohol consumption.

I imagine it would even be worse if you showed up at a hotel a day early for vacation.

Playing the Australian Open are you?

In my mind, I am playing in the Australian Open everytime I play. It would be really cool to play there or one of the other stadiums (Wimbledon, Flushing Meadows, or Roland Garros).
