DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
DONE! The last of my Christmas duties is finished. Just got back from the Post Office mailing the kid's Aunt's presents. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be but still took half an hour. The only thing left to do is get the vittles for Christmas Eve/Christmas.

Hope all are getting through Monday and that you do not have another work day Monday until January 9. Here's some pics of the holiday decorating inside the home.................

Top O the Mornin Dads! At the one week mark till DaWorld! Hope all are enjoying the Holiday and have gotten your shopping done. Here's a couple of more pics of the home decorations - living room tree has 2,000 lights:

WOW!!! Straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting! Very impressed. Absolutely beautiful.

Second that. Really nice. I used to be into Christmas decorations but not for a few years.

Morning. I think the cat was wrapped and put under the tree.

Morning gents! Up early to shovel out the drive so the missus can get to work. MIL's house is next.
Do NOT ask why I'm doing her house too.

Happy Wife?

Happy Tuesday. Going to visit my parents and Aunt today for Christmas. It makes for a lot of driving, compounded by trying to talk with people who can't hear and are full of complaints. Ahhh...the holidays. A tradition of spending time with people you never spend time with in order to be miserable. Maybe one year we will start a new tradition.

Good luck. I suggest you handle this new round of relative visiting like you did Thanksgiving.

Morning all. Another cold day here. Youngest dd is at swim practice, that is the only thing on the calendar until tennis tonight. The UL UK basketball game is on tonight, where you can watch the two highest paid job positions in KY go at each other (Calapari & Pitino). But, KYians can't figure out why taxes and college tuition rates keep rising while universities are dumping other sports and degree programs. It should be a good game to watch though.

Good luck. I suggest you handle this new round of relative visiting like you did Thanksgiving.

Didn't need to. We went to Louisville, and drinking and driving is frowned upon. We stayed with my parents about 90 minutes, which included the meal time chick FIL a party tray we brought. My parents tried to give me a box of chocolate covered cherries that was open because they forget to buy any presents. Then, we visited my aunt for about 30 minutes, and she kept asking who I was. It was sad, kinda like the Christmas Vacation movie without the humor or bonus.

Why am I living here again??

Move.

Because we're either too stubborn, or too stupid to move.

Yes.

Because packing for a move sucks.

I had a boss one time tell me, who was a good enough boss, that he didn't keep much at the office. So, if he ever got fired or laid off or won the lottery, he could carry all his personal effects he wanted to out of the office and go in a matter of minutes. I know that is for the office, but I've had a similar philosophy at my house. There isn't a whole lot of stuff I need to pack that I couldn't replace.

Awesome, very nice! Is this a combined effort or all your DW?
On the inside it's probably 70/30 DW. I take care of the tress, tree lights, trains under the tree and all the villages. DS pitches in a bit too. Here's Ms Clause, she also bakes about a dozen cookie tins full of cookies, wraps all of the presents, etc... she really loves this time of year.

Nice when you get it all done and can just relax and enjoy Christmas.

Classy...
Y'all do go all out for the holidays.
Excellent work there; excellent indeed.

Enjoy Christmas?

I do wish nothing but the best for those that are enriched by the holiday season.
but I honestly don't think I've enjoyed anything about December in years.
many, many years...

Because packing for a move sucks.

That too.

Man! You guys go all out. Pretty frickin' impressive.

And because I don't currently have a job just waiting on me elsewhere.

When's retirement???

Well...
That and because the rest of the family lives 'round here, so leaving the area has been strictly forbidden.

Us too. My parents and DW's mom are here.

but I honestly don't think I've enjoyed anything about December in years.
many, many years...

Sorry to hear that Rob. Care to share? We're all just friends here. Or PM me if you'd prefer. Or just tell me to buzz off. I hear that a lot.

A. Lot.

WELP. RIP money.

I booked flights for our March trip that we had every intention of driving to.

They were just too perfect. price was wayyyyyyy less than I've seen, and the times ADD time to our vacaction vs driving on our own schedule.

Late night flights both ways, so it'll get pretty sloppy with tired kids. But, no 20 hour drive.

Hopefully the late night will equal sleeping kids.

(It won't. But we can hope.)

Ah... to be only 20 hours away...

Top O the Morning Dads! With everyone likely getting busy with Christmas / family time, just want to wish all of you and your families a a Merry Christmas and all the best for a Happy and Healthy New Year! I'll end the home decor tour with a bit from the upstairs bonus room, known as my room:

10 foot tree

Mickey's Christmas village

Entertaining game between Louisville and Kentucky last night. So Norm are you in the UL, UK or neither camp? Florida opened the renovated O Dome (their BBall arena) and played very well. Their arena is so old, I went there as a student when it opened. Off in a bit to buy vittles for Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner. Simple menu this year, steak (and whatever fake meat thing she is having) and roasted vegetables. Also going to give Yorkshire pudding a shot. I am sure that is a disaster ready to happen. Have a great day everyone.

Sorry to hear Rob. Let us know if there is anything we can do. Need someone to take a long drive in the Everglades?

WELP. RIP money.

Well spent though. Enjoy the planning.

Morning All

Morning, funny picture today.

You really ought to try and get in the Christmas spirit a little. Just sayin'

'Morning all...
Hope everyone is winding down as we get into the heart of all the holidays.
Myself, I'd like to get out of the office early today.
Not certain it will be allowed, but we'll see.

When's retirement???
Minimum ten to fifteen years.
But realistically, after the damage done during 2007-2010 crash...
I ain't sure retirement is even possible any more.

Thanks guys, I do appreciate it. The offers honestly help.
The main thing I probably need to do though is just to shut up and stop bothering folks.

OK,
That made me smile a mite.

I hear you.
I remember quite clearly when I was in high school. Everyone had dreams, but I think I was the only one who was already thinking of retirement. I wanted freedom at 55.
Now I'm thinking if I'm lucky, I might be able to retire at 62 or so.... probably or so.

Thanks guys, I do appreciate it. The offers honestly help.

Nah. You ain't bothering no one. The offer's genuine by the way.
