DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Nope… Nothing till Good Friday. I’d trade one of the late holidays for a bit of a break in the high winter, but I don’t see my opinion counting for much at any point in the near.

We actually used to get President's Day off, but they changed it to a "floating holiday" a couple of years ago. So I can use that holiday whenever I want. I like it better that way, because there wasn't a whole lot to do in mid-February.

5:00 Central Time and time to get the heck outta here! Started extra early today so that I did not get caught staying late. Only a couple of months and we hit Disneyland so got that to keep me going plus me and DS have a weekend in Chicago to take in a couple of Blackhawk games and that is 6 weeks out. Everyone other than CJ stay warm.

We could always invent one. Maybe a US/Canadian relations conference to prevent polar vortexes?!? Even if it could impact the environment and fosters Canadian and US relations?

As long as it doesn't involve actual Fosters.

There has to be something related to all our occupations that has a common goal...

Ruined books is the worst crime imaginable.

Not good…
One school I attended as a young’en lost its offices and library to unforeseen circumstances. But it was fire rather than water causing the havoc. May the cleanup be better than expected and may they get the school back into operation soon.

Book drive has started and DW just got word that the school will be closed again tomorrow.

The did find out that the hardwood floor in the gym may not have made it.

It's been awhile since I had Fosters, but I don't remember how good or bad it was.

Yeah, we have one of those floating holidays too, but it is only one day. We have 20 holidays with Christmas, Spring, & Fall Breaks, in addition to the other Federal Holidays. I'm adding a week of vacation both in February and June as well. I need to figure out something for August.

. If you play your cards right, they'll go to college in Florida and you can move early!

I'm hoping I can accomplish that well.

Good evening guys,

I slept almost the whole time the kids were at school and I still don't feel caught up.

Happy New Year. The only lego set DS never finished was the Star Destroyer. It wasn't that he couldn't, after a while he got bored and never went back. It's still 60% done and in the box.

Good luck with the doctor search. I have found that surgeons almost always opt for surgery.

Lions need a new coach and to cut Suh. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

The classrooms were ok, all the damage was contained to the library, main office and foyer. Some water got under the gym floor but they think they managed to save that.

That stinks. Hope they get it cleaned up soon.

Good morning fellow dads! And I hope all the DDCC3 dads enjoy storming the castle this week. We are looking forward to storming Sleeping Beauty Castle in 9 days!!

Y’all gotten use to writing 2015 on every document yet? It surprised me to realize that we’re just about halfway through another decade. Where has the time gone?

Wanted to say something spiteful there, but I just can’t pull it off. You’re at Disney for Pete’s sake. Certainly wish I were tagging along, but that ain’t gonn’a be happening.

Funny story from New Years morning. Being in a casino we have a lot of time and date sensitive forms to fill out. Some supervisor was dating them 2016. The pit boss was not thrilled.

DS goes back tomorrow but DW went back today for PD. They had to go to a different school though, a pipe broke in her school on New Year's day and caused quite a bit of damage, including most of the books in their library.

Oh man, I would have been so stoked to get back to my classroom today, only to find school closed. But that didn't happen, instead I had 32 sleepy fifth graders. Well, all that damage doesn't sound good either.

Today was long! First day back at work, my wife and I just started grad school and today was the first day of our online classes. To finish the evening out we hosted our den's meeting for cub scouts. Can't wait for bed.

Today was long! First day back at work, my wife and I just started grad school and today was the first day of our online classes. To finish the evening out we hosted our den's meeting for cub scouts. Can't wait for bed.

The Salaried staff here gets 10 days per annum (twice what’s offered to the poor hourly folks).
One of those is also a “floating holiday”, but we don’t get to decide when to take it… they do.
For this year it was Jan 2. Made for two long weekends in a row, but still leaves one all mighty dry spell in the first quarter.

Well a new floor will be a good thing. Scraping together the funds for it though… not so much.
May the book drive exceed expectations. I’m sure I’ve got a few I could donate but the shipping from here would be just a might prohibitive.

Sounds like a good way to get through the next few months. We are not so lucky. We are planning for the Feb. Bruins/Canadiens game, but even that looks like a loss the way the team is playing. Not holding out for playoffs or a shot at the title this year. And they keep trading DS favorite players so we'll see.

Ouch! The wood floors are expensive to replace. Good luck with the book drive and getting things back to normal. We would send some books, but there aren't enough U's in ours.

My normal 25 minute-ish commute took an hour today. Mother nature felt the need to reintroduce herself to Western PA. about 3" of snow and 2 hour delays for all the schools.
