DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
DW and I talked about it last night. We may go ahead and do the 5 day wdw ticket. Now, I have to find last minute ADRs.

I'll go ahead and post my last DisDad picture meet while I'm home at lunch.

So, I went ahead and bought the 5 day DVC ticket and booked new ADRs. I had to cancel Boatright.

Mon - AK - Yak n Yeti
Tues - Epcot - Rose n Crown
Wed - MK - Plaza
Thurs - DHS - Mama Melrose
Fri - MK - Kona

Skipper Canteen was booked up and I'll try to get there as opposed to Plaza. Going to play tennis this AM and then I need to make FPs.

Nice, take care of the place for us - we will be 2 months behind you staying at BWV so leave us a sign of Norm to find :rotfl2:

Last time I did that, the toilet backed-up. :lmao:

Some good choices there. I could do without Mama Melrose but that is me.

Go easy on the toilet this time, maybe leave something under the bed instead. ;)

Top O the Mornin Dads! Took care of tix myself yesterday, reassigned 5 day me and DS had for our June visit to the DW and DD to use in December and got me and the boy APs with DVC discount. Have a god weekend gents.

Like the plans and we have some similar in Plaza and Mama Melrose Fantasmic in June. Was thinking more along the lines of a "hidden Norm" though I guess the toilet thing could be considered as one.

Home from tennis. Played well this AM. Watching Premier League soccer (West Brom & Crystal Palace) and will do FPs this afternoon.

;)

We've never tries Mama Melrose in all these trips. I've read mixed reviews, but it was the only one open with the Fantasmic Package. I might get the calamari or mussels app with a beer.

I was tempted to do APs, but the last few October Columbus Day Fall Breaks have been really crowded, one even hit capacity at MK. So, we are going to do the beach then. I'll think of something to bury at the BWV and let you know.

As expected, they did it. In case you missed it, Disney increased prices and moved to a tier system. An article from the Orlando Sentinel...

I decided at the end of last year, I was not going to renew our AP's and cut back a bit on trips. The only one planned this year is on the drive back from NJ when she graduates in May. We are there for a couple of days and I can fill that playing around the resorts or Disney Springs. Not that I am down on Disney but just wanted to take a break. I'll wait until some of the new attractions start coming up on line.

Morning Guys,

Club basketball starts today so that means a road trip for 2 games this afternoon, DS was ready to play last night. This one is a short season, done by the first weekend in April.

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

We are a little on the same boat. After coming off an 8 trips in 2 years run, we decided to do one trip this year and next year. They are 16 day trips but still just one a year. We'll keep up our aps, the renew price is still a lot better then trip tickets and you just never know when the spirit my move us. Lol
The place is just incredible. For years we have all been reading on these boards and others how universal is going to take a bite out of Disney. Disney pricing them selfs out of the market and yet the place has recorded attendance year after year, making boat loads of cash while all raising prices and ripping the entire place apart at the same time.
I'm looking forward to the next five years or so ( God willing ) to see how this all turns out.
Trip to Nj is May? Hard to believe she is graduating already, geez. If your coming up i81/i78 area into Nj, let me know. I live just about on the boarder of Pa and Nj ( close to where Carl jumped in the river) which is five minutes to i78. We can meet up for a hello and a handshake.

Happy Sunday,

Absolutely gorgeous weather here today, 70's and sunny with clouds rolling in later today (sorry guys). Thought about breaking out the BBQ but decided to head out for Mexican for lunch/dinner.

Enjoy the road trip and hope he does well.

Like you, the last couple of years I was Disney heavy for vacations. Decided to build up some DVC points so the next time I get an AP I can take maximum advantage of the pass. Besides, the next year or so some great things are opening.

I go up 95 until I hit the NJ Turnpike/Garden State Parkway, how far away is that from you and Carl? Yea, the time has flown by. It seems like yesterday I was at her freshman orientation for high school and the Principal told them to enjoy the moment because the four years will go by fast. That was almost eight years ago. I just ordered her graduation photos. Been an interesting eight years.

Configured all the FP+s yesterday, and wow, that was a lot of work. I'm going with the same strategy of the legacy FP system, we used to get FPs all day and then hoard them to the PM when the time didn't expire. Maybe I should have done them all in AM and then tried to get more. Anyone have a good strategy now?

It was difficult to make around dining options. Maybe next year I'll do FP first and then try to take whatever dining options are left.

.

Good luck to him. Youngest dd will have a new MS basketball coach next year (the assistant this year) and he wanted to get an early start on basketball. So, he recruited most of the next year's 7th graders for a travel team. I don't give them much chance of success, but it will be more team time and playing time for her. This overlaps a soccer season though, and I wanted her to try a 10 week tennis session. That's a lot of competing overlaps and $.

I'm sure there is a point where Disney will price themselves out of the market, but it doesn't seem like it. I won't do APs until we move to Florida (my 10 year plan) as I just don't have the money budgeted for multiple trips. So many people are living on debt though, which doesn't seem to bother them.

Afternoon gents. Had a nice night last night getting together with the "soccer parents". The core group of 5 families that traveled together, raised money together and toured the southeast including two tournaments at Disney - we still get together about 4 or 5 times a year. Today is hanging right now watching the Blackhawks and then post game heading outside to enjoy a cigar and the great weather we are having today. Enjoy whatever it is you are doing today.
