DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Tacking it onto the current one. If you're interested, go to the second post and you'll see chapter link to the Maui part.

I started combining all my trip reports a few years ago and wish I had done them all that way so I could have a journey over time with all the pictures in them. But, I don't type all that many words in mind as it usually has a few pictures and what little thoughts I have at the time.

Did you just get off Small World? I hear it is Jim's favourite ride.

We met over there, and yes, that was the backdrop. 15 points for you. I don't remember if actually were on the ride though. I still do IASW with the family every trip.

Did you happen to perhaps see four horsemen ride by?
.

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

Every year during these months, I always suggest moving to Florida with DW. Freezing today after 70 this weekend. :furious:

My condolences.

I don't know if I could. The current one is already over 100 pages.
That's a bit intimidating for anyone wanting to hop in.

Not yet but the days not over.

Last two times we did IASW we forced DS on.

Scared the crap out of me, had to change my underwear. ;)

This weather blows. Been absolutely stunning for the past couple of weeks. Now a big bass tournament arrives, and what happens? High Winds and mid 30s in Leesburg.

I mean....really?

How you guys doing?

Trying to stay dry up here, thanks for asking.

Would have been a nice day, sunny and warm I've heard, but I've been doing a colonoscopy prep. One year follow up so this is as good a time to get on my soapbox for the new guys. They are recommended at age 50. There are better things to do, but it may save your life. I wasn't expecting any problems when I had my first one last year, but ended up having 1/3 of my colon removed. Hopefully everything is good now but you never know. If you don't do it for yourself, do it for those that are depending on you. March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

The Prep is far and away the worst part of it.
Not knowing that there's a potential life threatening problem is far worse though.
I've lost folks due to that scenario; don't wish to add to the list.

Too many are lost and my condolences. Many people are scared of the prep, but I've felt worse after a rough night in college with 25 cent drafts at the local watering hole, or a bad stomach virus. If caught early, it is one of the most survivable forms of cancer. I'm not sure if they are doing a better job of screening or if the incidence is rising but rates are up among the younger folks. Because of my history, my kids will be screened no later than age 40.

I've read about that prep work. Drinking nasty crap sounds bad enough. Not eating? I get the very first appointment at my Dr now so that I can eat dinner and then have blood work drawn for physical at 7:00 AM. I don't know if I could without eating much longer than that.

You have to avoid anything with tomatoes or red dyes starting about three days before. The day before you can have clear liquids, broths and jello (just not red). I've done it a couple of times and have found that keeping a cup of chicken broth with you that last day makes it a lot easier to deal with. It's more satisfying than water, to be sure. Once you start on the "nasty crap" that evening is the fun bit of it...
It's still worth it in the long run and for most folks it's only needs to be about once a decade.

They didn't knock me out when I had it done, just something to get a big groggy. The nurse doing the prep work was super cute. She tried to make small talk while my derriere was flapping in the breeze. Awkward. All that was going through my head to ask her was, "So, do you like your job?" After I recovered, it was off to have a steak dinner. One of the best meals ever.

Best summary of the procedure ever was Dave Barry's article:

http://www.miamiherald.com/living/liv-columns-blogs/dave-barry/article1928847.html

His description of the prep work is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

It was... Different.

Not a great one unfortunately.

Uh oh. I don't like the sounds of this.

It's Hawaii, so even when it's bad, it's good.

I like that a little better.

Wild couple of days of weather here, in the last 24 hours we have had snow, rain, sleet, freezing rain, fog, thunder lightning and record high temperatures.

Last year we were buried in snow, this year nothing to speak of.

Did you happen to perhaps see four horsemen ride by?

Just curious.

Crazy wind and rain for us last night. Scotty started getting spooked and told my wife he was worried about a tornado. My wife, ever soothing, told him we don't get tornadoes in Delaware. We didn't point out the Tornado Watch broadcast on the weather reports.

Top O the Mornin Dads!
Good morning all. Had an enjoyable night of tennis last night. Thought I would post another meet picture from the wifi at home before I go to work.

You and Jim at IASW ...................... saw it was already answered

Other than the whacko weather all seem to be dealing with, not bad. Twenties today after mid 60's this past weekend and mid 60's again this weekend - at least the weekends are good. Hope all is good with you and yours.

We do as well, only now the kids can rattle off every country. I do like how DL & WDW have differences in the same attractions, but would like to see DaWorld integrate Disney characters into IASW. At DL Aladin, Alice, Woody, Nemo, Mogli & Baloo, Lelo & Stitch, Timon and Pumba, Mulan, etc are worked in.

"...staggering around in full Fire Hose Mode"

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Yep... that's a mighty fine depiction of what goes on.
Right down to the fact that the procedure itself is pretty much a cake walk.

But do ask for the non-ABBA version.

I love the part about his bowels traveling into the future to digest food he hadn't even eaten yet.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

You are way wordier than I or you post more pictures. I usually just post pictures of my family in front of stuff we did.

I haven't had that happen at WDW yet. But, when they whine here, I say they can go or go away and pay their own way. The seem to stick with me paying so far. :lmao:

Agreed. I didn't know DL did that. Is the Donald piñata at IASW or at the Three Caballeros' boat ride? I always search for it.

Good Morning Gents, Long Time Disney Fan, new to DIS Boards. I have a wife and 2 daughters that think I have a problem but never object when I book a WDW Trip. hahaha. We have been to WDW 8 times since 2008 and every time it's Hard Core Parks. The wife and I were at DL in Sept 15 no kids just us. Not sure when the next trip will be but that has never stopped us before. One year we were watching the Disney Parade on Christmas morning, I looked at my wife and gave a nod of the head and she started booking a hotel. At 5pm that day we were on the road driving to WDW. 23 hr drive to the Happiest Place on earth.
I leave in Ottawa Canada and yes I am a Ottawa Senators Fan. Cheers.
I'm a little late to the welcome party, but welcome to the club! Nice to see the Canadian invasion still going strong! Awesome story about driving down after the Christmas parade. I sometimes wish I lived close enough to do that. By the way, I'm a bit of a Senators fan myself.

Huh, miss one day around here and this post shows up.
I can only think of one word for this one....

And it doesn't start with a "C"
Lol !!! FED !!!! I guess I don't have to ask what you have been doing with our tax money, sounds like fishing. Lol

Mornin' all. As a shift worker this is irrelevant, but... for the rest of you. Happy Friday!

It is Friday, isn't it?

Happy Friday. In looking at youngest dd agenda book which has to be parent signed (yes, another stupid school thing that has nothing to do with learning), I found out she has been forging her mom's initials as signature. But, she did a really bad job. I told her she needs to get an education because she did a bad job at being a criminal. :sad1:

Let's see if 4G can get this picture.
