DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Quick! Get that man a pair of pliers so he can tighten up his verbiage.

Midnight. (Eastern)
I meant to post this yesterday, but I forgot. It was a nice, lazy day for our family, with my wife and I stretched out on either couch, both planning our December trip to Disney. My son "snuggled*" up next to me and noticed your avatar while I was on the DIS. I had a sudden realization that among my many failures, one was waiting so long to expose my son to the brilliance of Loony Toons!! So, rather than suffer through one of my painful educational lectures, I went to the youtube and pulled up about 20 segments, many including Marvin the Martian. We had a great time laughing and bridging the generational gap! So, thank you sir, for exposing my parenting failures.

* by "snuggling," I mean my son thinks he's a cat and has no regard for personal space. Snuggling, to him, means getting as close as possible to make you as uncomfortable as possible, all while digging his feet under you in the most painful, inconvenient ways imaginable.

Welcome to the new guys!

::yes:: I like the way he plays the game. He's fun to watch and he plays hard. I know his celebrations rub a lot of people the wrong way, but you can tell the guy is having fun. He doesn't seem to be doing it to taunt the other team, he's just having fun. Something the league could really use a little bit more of.

Newton rubbed me the wrong with with the Superman thing, but then he started giving footballs to kids in the stands and that was just too cool. And he's really improved as a passer. Carolina is fun to watch.

I was just hoping the Patriots got knocked out. Didn't care amongst the other teams.

Hey! It's snowing here! I woke up to about an 1/8th of an inch on my driveway.
Anyone else get snow this weekend?

:duck:

Hi, I'm Mark. I'm 41 years old, and I still look forward to snow days.

Plus I can force the kids to help me shovel out now.

I do believe it won't be listed as one of Palmer's better days...

Free footballs for everybody!

What the heck went on around here? The board has changed, picture disappeared and had to figure out how to put one back. Lol
I have to say, I started watching the dis unplugged videos. Pretty good. I don't know but for some reason a few years ago when I listened to a few I wasn't crazy about them. It seem to me it was nothing but a dump on Disney fest.
Must of just been the few a listened too. My apologies to Pete. Does a good job.
I'm not trying to figure out the signature part. Have any questions just ask. Lol
I can answer a few questions here, way to many years, way to many trips, way to many drives. Lol

Well!
I'm glad I could be an inspiration for that!

Usually I'm an inspiration for other things.
None of them good.

I think we're all familiar with that kind of "snuggling" from our brats.

Must be nice.
Kid #1 has actually shoveled this year. Possibly for the first time ever.
There was about a 1/4" on the ground.
Pretty sure she thinks she's done enough for this decade.
Kid #2 had stated about 2 years ago that she was going to make money by shoveling driveways.
She did... oh... about 10% of ours, then said it was too hard and quit.
Hasn't touched a shovel since.

Howdy all.
Finally got to see Episode VII. Whoo Hoo. Great movie cant wait till the next one now. Took me forever to finally get to see it but I hurt my back and dropping $100 a week at the Dr kinda put a dent in the entertaining budget.

Sorry for those who lost their pets,
Congrats to all the runners and the dads of those who ran,
Welcome to the new guys,
Prayers for those in need, bacon and dole whips for everyone.

I think I have about 8 bosses (or some of their executive assistants) that forward me all the same emails. State University Beauracracy at its finest.

"I have 8 bosses Bob. 8. You know what that means Bob? When I screw up it means I have to hear about it 8 times. That will make a man work just hard enough to not get fired, Bob."

Do you like beer?

Its only January and we already have a candidate for dumbest question of the year.

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I'm starting at the beginning... well the second thread, and gonna read every post till I'm current. Ya'll pray for me.
/

Why? just why?
I am pretty sure none of us have even read all of this thread. If I miss more than 2 pages of posts I don't even go back that far to catch up usually.
Oh well welcome aboard any way.

And just so you know... you missed a thread. And good luck finding it. :rolleyes1
Ahhh yes..the thread that shall not be named. and almost got us thrown off the boards.

I live in Newfoundland, Canada.

AHHHHHH NOOOO, another Canadian. The march of the penguins continues (Jessy can explain that joke when he gets to it in about 3 years)
But since you are buying the beer I guess it evens out.
Welcome aboard.

Just when you restored my hope in humanity with that story about them and the Northern Lights...

Something for you guys that are snowed in.

Happy Monday gentlemen! (I use this term loosely)

Can I ask an "on-topic" question real quick? (gasp!)

Tomorrow is my 60 day window for FP+ reservations for our Spring Break trip.

What time can I start making them? Midnight? 7am?

I forget every time it's time for me to make them!

An actual Disney related question. Thanks for posting and someone will answer it at the first ..... SQUIRREL!

I got a text, so I guess I'm not the weird kid. Lol

Dave, texts, new board formats? Mass hysteria, like cats and dogs playing together.

d.

With that logic, you're clearly government management material.

Is the the Disdads version of American Ninja?

daily-morning-awesomeness-45-photos-43.gif

Not sure I'm ready to run that far. My version would be more like sitting in a bar and drinking a beer.

Oh, I'll find it! And when I do, I'll laugh as though the joke is only a few years old!

Also, sorry to hear about your back. Glad you got to see Star Wars though!

Happy New Year everyone, hope everyone is doing well and hope everyone makes it through the blizzard safely. ( except for fed, hope he get a sunburn on his &$@ while fishing lol)
Your &$@ shouldn't be exposed while fishing....unless you're using it as bait.

.

"Good dose" is certainly accurate....

I am currently sitting in my boat in a residential canal off the St Johns River with the propane heate going trying to warm up. My rod guides froze this morning!
You know, you can just come up here and do some ice fishing. We at least have heated shanties with coolers full of beer.

Hello gents! Another new guy here, although a couple of you may have noticed me post on your TR before. I thought about becoming a DIS Dad for a while, mostly to get one of those shiny numbers that @pkondz and @afwdwfan are always flashing around. I mean, with those guys in the club, I figured there must be some pretty high membership standards! But I mustered up the courage and was brave enough to take the plunge. Drinks all around! What's the drink of choice around here? Beer and bourbon it seems. If I admit I like spiced rum does that disqualify me? Hmmm...how about if I admit I like princesses? Am I back in?

Anyway, on to the serious stuff, I'll tell you a little about myself. I grew up on Disney movies and TV shows. My first and only trip to the World as a child was in 1983. I think the bug hit on that very trip, but it was many years later before I returned, once I had found my princess (DW) and my step-DD (now almost 16). The three of us took our first trip on 2008. We were soon joined by another little lady, my DD who is now 8, and the four of us have had three trips to WDW since. We like to go about every 18 months, but for various reasons we don't have anything planned right now. :(

I live in Newfoundland, Canada. If you've never heard of it, look for it on Google maps (it is a real place, I promise :p). And if any of you are trying to pronounce it to yourself right now, do me a favour (yes, Canadian spelling - get used to it) and say it right, it's "Newfoundland, understand", as in rhymes with.

I travel a lot with work, so keeping up with disboards helps pass the time. Hopefully I'll be able to get to know some of you a little better. Looking forward to being part of the club!
Welcomue Tuo Thue Cluub! (I'm not sure where the extra U's go, so I just stuck them everywhere to be on the safe side)

Saw the numbers on the news and do have to laugh at how 8" shut my neck of the woods down. Stay safe sir.
Hey, 8" is nothing to be ashamed of.
Hmmm...that may have been phrased wrong...

You know Michael and fishing, general requires a change of swim wear. Lol
