DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Happy Tuesday. Back at the office and got thru the email. I'll have a semi-big revision project at the beginning of the year, but am on cruise control until then.
I went 4-0 in disdad fantasy football and taunted my nemesis on FB about it. That's the best part of it.
As a guy that has coached this sport for close to 30 years, at all levels I am more than happy to drive him to play volleyball. What I want to see is him get the coaching that he and the other boys deserve.

I'm seeing that now at middle school coaching, but can't do anything about it. Oldest dd's swim coach and dive coach are both great. The swim coach has taught her a new technique on the flip turn that her club coach didn't use, and she likes is better. I don't know anything about dive and has never dived before, and she can do several dives now, I guess it is working. But, youngest dd's middle school basketball coach is useless. She gets the conditioning in practice, but that is about it. He's just letting athletes due their thing and no fundamentals like pick n roll.

Forgot to mention, on this day in 1965, (50 years ago), Walt, Roy and Florida Governor Hayden Burns announced the "Florida Project" to the world. Appreciate it Walt, without that inspiration, I would not have the many memories I have of great vacations at your Most Magical Place on Earth.
]

True. Those memories are special.

'Morning all...
The good news... I can still get to this site from work.
The annoying news, They've blocked nearly all media sharing so I gotta wait till I get home to see any images.

Or not... nerves can be finicky when it comes to healing.
One step at a time.

Well, I guess you get what you get. Glad to hear you are on the healing path.

We did it! We made it through another Monday!!
...

It's better than not making it thru Monday.

Top O the Mornin Dads!

Could not agree more! DS has some nice framed prints of Walt in his room along with several of Walt's quotes on the walls and I often silently thank Mr Disney when seeing this stuff for what his imagination and hard work has meant for our family.
Morning Guys.

Headed to Toronto today for a couple of days of meetings. Does anyone know if they have a NHL team there?
Like Bigfoot, sightings but nothing confirmed.

Headed to Toronto today for a couple of days of meetings. Does anyone know if they have a NHL team there?

Yes! I know!

No.

Basically, I suffering from a bit of whiplash.
Started PT yesterday to see if we can't get all the mussels in my upper back to let go of the grip of death that they're currently locked into. If I can get them loosened up I should get my range of motion back and after that the pain in my hands should dissipate over time.

Or not... nerves can be finicky when it comes to healing.
One step at a time.

Good luck with the healing, Rob.

43 square miles for $5 million. Seems like a decent investment.

No clue. It's been so long since I've watched a good one, I've forgotten what they look like.

That sounds just plain awful. Are you sure your health plan doesn't include replacement bionic body parts?

We did it! We made it through another Monday!!
Yeah, but it was lookin' pretty dicey there for a bit, though.
Monday's just keep on getting tougher and tougher.

Well, I guess you get what you get. Glad to hear you are on the healing path.
And I'll take whatever I can get.
I got a decent glimpse of a far worse case scenario and most anything will beat that cold.

That sounds just plain awful. Are you sure your health plan doesn't include replacement bionic body parts?
It may have been an option for Luke, but I'm pretty sure we can cross that one off the list in relation to my health benefits.
Still waiting to see the first statements from BCBS on what's been done so far.
I guarantee, I'll poor myself a good stiff drink before I open up that batch of mail.

Rob, welcome back! I'm glad that things seem to be progressing in the right direction for you!

Her first Bull Shark, they can be bad boys if they want
Cool pictures, thanks for sharing. I'd be out of there if I saw one of those. I've seen Shark Week once or twice. :scared1:

The Pirate Princess made it back in NJ in time for class. Can tell the dogs are already missing her. I keep telling them she will be back in a month.

Seven hours? Wow, dedicated parent.

Very much did. This may be the best tasting turkey I have made. Because we went to the Keys, I soaked in it in the brine longer than normal. Stuffed myself and immediately laid down on the couch and fell asleep. There is plenty left if you want to come down.

There is no way I can sleep when the Kid is driving. I am a nervous wreck. I didn't give her the nickname Crash for nothing. Although in her defense, both fender benders came a few months after she got a license.

Thought about driving up there to spike the ball in your yard but said forget it because I would have to drive over that damn bridge. There is no way the Phins should have won that game. I did think of you when Landry caught the tipped pas for a TD. Hope your TV is OK.

That is good to hear.

Very cool. Care to decorate my house? I'll take you to the Keys and buy a couple of drinks.

Hey Don, how are things? Many memories and friends made here.

Ditto Randall's Ditto Tim.

My mouth is watering at all that juicy turkey sitting on that plate! I think I may just come down for some of those leftovers! lol

Things up here in Va Beach are going well. Most recent adventure is renovating the crawl space for the house. New floor joists... replace insulation... install moisture barrier. Fun stuff. Anyone thinking they are 20 (or 30) years old should try spending quality time in a dark, damp space for hours on end on elbows and knees to bring them back to reality. :lmao:

Definitely many memories and friends over the years here. Drinks on me today :)

Happy Monday. Went to dr and got poked, prodded, and phlobotosized. Should get the results back later this week. I'll let you know if I'm still alive.

Phlo... what? Too many "p's" in that sentence for any normal Dr visit. Hope all is well!

Sheesh. Hope the PT works quickly! I hear nerve damage can be slow to recover from. Hope all the typing on the keyboard is helpful and not the opposite.

The Diving Pirate Princess sent me a few pics and I thought I would share a few...

Cool shots! Lots of fishies caught on camera! Reminds me that Finding Dory is coming out this year... just keep swimming... :fish:

Happy Wednesday. This is the 4th consecutive day of rain and am ready for it to be over. Took the Tumbler in for an oil change and then heading into the office. Last night was oldest dds first HS swim meet. My ears are still ringing. No points last night as it was a fun one to start the season. Youngest dd had basketball game I missed, but she made her first 3 pointer of the season.

Yeah, my bionics came from work insurance, so no cost. Good luck with the insurance battle.

Phlebotomy, blood draw, the only other word I could think of to complete the alliteration sentence. After kneeling in a cramped space, I might need a beer IV. :lmao:

Yeah, but it was lookin' pretty dicey there for a bit, though.
Monday's just keep on getting tougher and tougher.

You know, as a shift worker, Mondays are just another day of the week for me.
Sometimes it's the first day of the "work week" sometimes it's the last, sometimes it's a day off.
My cycle almost always ends with a midnight shift. Been that way for ever.
When I first started, I remember thinking how Midnights were the same as going to an all night party.
Easy!

It ain't so easy anymore.

How nervous, wary, whatever, was she when she saw it?
Or was she more like "Cool! My first Bull shark!"

'Morning all...
Well, actually I missed it by a minute or three, but y'all know what I mean.

The Diving Pirate Princess sent me a few pics and I thought I would share a few...
Nice shots. Good that she got to come home for a bit.
I need to talk to mine and see if he's heading home next week or not.

Her first Bull Shark, they can be bad boys if they want
Nasty cusses those Bulls.
They seem to be the ones that cause most of the problems with swimmers.

Rob, welcome back! I'm glad that things seem to be progressing in the right direction for you!
Thanks, and its good to see you 'round here as well.
I was starting to miss the abuse.

That's a whole lot'a work that I'd really rather not have to be doing.
Did you have to replace just a few of the joists or was there a more serious problem?

Sheesh. Hope the PT works quickly! I hear nerve damage can be slow to recover from. Hope all the typing on the keyboard is helpful and not the opposite.
Me too...
Had a session this morning. I know it will loosen everything up in the long run but you certainly feel a bit worse for wear immediately afterward. Doing my assigned stretches today will be challenging, but it will be easier tomorrow and all of it should get easier over time.

Hands still bother me, but that will come in time.
Hopefully.

Yeah, my bionics came from work insurance, so no cost. Good luck with the insurance battle.
Knees? Don't remember hearing about you having any kind of replacements (though it may have been some time ago).

We'll see what kind of damage my part of the bills will be.
At least I do have some insurance. Being out there on your own could quickly destroy a family.

Easy!

It ain't so easy anymore.

Did that stuff way, way back in my miss spent youth (before the end of the Carboniferous Era, I do believe).
Shift work was taxing then; doing it now would be tough indeed.

Happy Belated BDay Tim!

I survived another one and am as glad to be having them as I ever was. Could be worse, I had a cousin my age not wake up on Saturday AM. She thought she was in good health, but apparently ruptured a vessel in her heart. Got a new hat from the parents and SWMBO and the kids hit me up for money and went out and got stuff. They also asked me what I wanted to do for my BDay and I said I didn't want to do anything...cooking, dishes, laundry, etc., but that didn't transpire and I ended up doing what I didn't want to do.

Continued prayers for healing.

Good to hear your oldest has a good coach and congrats to the youngest on hitting the 3 to start the season. May there be many more to come.

Rain should be hitting here in the next 30 minutes. None all week which was fine with me. Gave me a chance to harvest more cabbage.

I received a call from Dr and the lab results confirm I'm still alive. :lmao:
Total cholesterol was 149. Apparently, I am really healthy under all the fat and injuries. :lmao:

UPS Work Accident 20 years ago. I had my right wrist bent like an elbow (broke both bones and heard them crack) and I still have the two plates and 12 screws in my right forearm. Maybe not bionic then, maybe cyborg?

Ditto Randall's Ditto Tim.

Happy BDay Tim!

What those guys said!

Third or forth, or whatever number I am - Happy Birthday Tim

Well I'm glad someone is paying attention.
A Happy Belated to Tim.

Happy Belated BDay Tim!
Thanks everyone! Nice to know I haven't been forgotten over here. LOL

See Randall, I stop by every once in a while...

Happy Thursday guys. Weekend will be here soon.

Best deal since the Dutch bought Manhattan.

I used to do crap like that but no more. These old bones can't do it anymore. Big thumbs up for taking on the project.

Phlebotomy, blood draw, the only other word I could think of to complete the alliteration sentence. After kneeling in a cramped space, I might need a beer IV. :lmao:

Can see the doc now, "I need an IPA Stat." Glad everything checked out OK.

How nervous, wary, whatever, was she when she saw it?
Or was she more like "Cool! My first Bull shark!"

I am sure she was yelling out of her regulator, "Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty." She was excited but it came and went so fast she just got a glimpse of it. No one was sure if it was a Bull or a Black-Tip when they got back to the boat. She was pretty sure it was a Bull. A biologist who was a friend of one of the divers confirmed she was right.

Also know as the bangs over the eye era.

 It was an entire era?

She was excited but it came and went so fast she just got a glimpse of it.

Yeah, so that scares the beejeebers out of me.
"came and went so fast" implies that it can come back so fast, too.

"One second I had two arms, the next everyone's calling me Lefty."

...Total cholesterol was 149. Apparently, I am really healthy under all the fat and injuries. ...?

Well done! Have some more BBQ mutton for me.

I'm still waiting on my labs but last time I had them done my total cholesterol was over 200. Apparently, under all my skinny I'm not very healthy. Genetics are a crap shoot and I rolled snake eyes.

For those of you who have been waiting with keen anticipation on the results of the cabbage trial....
25 varieties total ...20 green, 2 Chinese, and 3 red
Over 3300 pounds of cabbage cut (the first two replications of four)
So far there is so much plot to plot variability that there are no statistical differences among varieties and I don't see it improving with the other two reps because they were in the poorer area of my field.

I still get a paycheck though even when things don't work and am still on the green side of the sod so life isn't too bad.

Happy Thursday afternoon. Basketball game and swim practice tonight. I'm looking forward to February and end of sports season. Foot sore still from last night. I'll need to do more stretches during the week.

Skinny & unhealthy or fat & healthy? I don't like either option.
