DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
In lieu of spending $700+ to fly the Pirate Princess down for Thanksgiving, she is getting on a flight this afternoon. Saved about $500. Saturday, we go to the Keys with a friend of hers that is doing a Discover Scuba course. Plan on having "Thanksgiving" dinner Sunday. Instead of cooking, we are going out to a yet to be determined restaurant. Looking forward to spending the weekend with the kid.

Hey guys!

Hey Andy!

Happy DISDad Day!

Nice pic of the two of you. One question, "Where's the rum?

Happy Thursday. Foot is a bit sore this AM. I hope it isn't a major setback. Annual physical already scheduled for Monday, so I'm sure it will be addressed there either way.

Happy 8th Anniversary to the DisDad's Club!

I didn't realize it was our anniversary. I need to buy myself a present. :lmao:

With a mid-week holiday, today feels like a Monday.

I took the last two days off. I don't think it feels like a Monday.

?

Sounds like a great plan. I like the cooking part because I enjoy the leftovers. But, I don't enjoy the cleanup. Enjoy the time with the kid.

Top O the Morning Dads! Is it tomorrow afternoon yet? Forgot eralier that we got BWV for DS's HS grad trip for Star Wars Weekends a couple of weeks ago only to have Disney cancel SWW this week........

Randall - Front Page Update please for 2016:
June 2 - 7 BWV
July 16-23 Disney Fantasy

Enjoy the weekend with the kid and the early Thanksgiving celebration. Does this mean you get 2 Thanksgivings? Will hopefully remember to check in the official turkey day to kepp ya company.

A trip to DaWorld? Here's hoping all have at least one in preliminary planning stages.

So she's not going to make you prepare some kind of not-quite-turkey substitute for her?

Sounds like a win all around for you this year!

Thanks guys…
I took a bit of a trip couple days ago. Total distance traveled: 5 feet; speed at impact: 32 feet per second/per second. Gravity is an unforgiving thing ya’ know. Anyway, I was out back to grab a few tools from the shed for a project when my feet came out from under me while descending the inclined walkway that accesses it (damn rain and wet leaves). Bang, just that fast; landed square on my back. Probably whacked my head as well but at the moment the only thing I was conscious of was that I couldn’t move. Nothing was working. Couldn’t feel the legs, arms flat where they landed, fingers curled up in a ball, nothing responding to my thoughts. That was about 30 seconds of true terror.

Wow scary stuff. Hope they are able to get you back up soon.

I didn't realize it was our anniversary. I need to buy myself a present. :lmao:
Don't you have some back ordered dues you could mail out? We could all have a present then. I know I missed out on the last couple of rounds from the new guys.

Wow, Rob. I can't imagine how scary that was. I'm thankful it wasn't permanent.

Basically I’ve got an extra bone that most folk don’t have.

Shouldn't this give you like, a superpower or something?

Since then things are improving, but aren’t quite right. The needles sensation has left most of my fingers and has been replaced with a burning pain that is sensitive to touch and cold. That runs from both index fingers up to either elbow. Neck is sore and stiff but the lower back seems to be mending. I have an appointment this the spine doctor Friday but am restricted by the meds from being able to drive (which has ended a long planned trip this weekend… stupid, stupid stupid!) but it could still be far worse. At least I have been allowed to work from home this Closing week. Still have to be logged in and working by 6am, but I’m also still employed, so I’ve got that going for me.

Hoping and praying for a speedy recover. Get better, man.

Happy 8th Anniversary to the DisDad's Club!

8 years? Wow, we're old.

Excellent work!

Happy Friday. Even though its the 13th, I'm having good luck so far as my foot is feeling better.

Oldest dd had a dose of reality as she has an F in a class and school rule is she can't compete for sports. Finally, the bell may have rung in her head and she was intent on getting the grade up in time for the first school meet on Tuesday. She scores in that top level (not genius) on those standardizes school test, but is just lazy in doing homework. Gives me a :headache:

A trip to DaWorld? Here's hoping all have at least one in preliminary planning stages.

Be sure to post it for the 5 of us here who read it? :lmao: Maybe the others will return.

I booked a trip to BWV in October. Stinks because I missed my window by 3 days, and standard and boardwalk view already taken. I'd rather have standard view of parking lot and save points, but if I have to be point high, then I want boardwalk view. I'm going to stalk the site and call and make changes as soon as they are available. We'll probably do a BWV/ VBR split stay again.

Don't you have some back ordered dues you could mail out? We could all have a present then. I know I missed out on the last couple of rounds from the new guys.

Yeah, those new guys aren't doing well on sending the dues. I blame Darcy.

Hope everyone is doing well. I have no nemesis so I can wish ill on any of you. :rotfl2:

I didn't realize it was Friday 13th. Why don't you find some black cats, mirrors, and ladders and really make a good day of it. :lmao:

A good Friday afternoon gents. Rob - Hope you are doing better. All, enjoy the weekend including all the young ones activities.

Shenanigans and balderdash. That's where all those dues went.

I had some balderdash. It was pretty good.
Morning all. Saturday.... most of you must still be (I hope) sleeping still.

Happy Saturday. Just a couple swim practices (club team & HS team) and basketball scrimmage fundraiser tonight. I've enjoyed the relaxing day. Next begins the budget negotiations for next year, specifically Disney vacations. We have them booked for April and one for October, although the October will probably be a beach vacation, unless I can sneak in a MNSSHP one night.

I had some balderdash. It was pretty good.
Morning all. Saturday.... most of you must still be (I hope) sleeping still.

Did you use Tabasco sauce on that balderdash? :lmao:

Morning all.

Thankful this today for this place away from the craziness.

Certainly a tragedy. My prayers go out to those injured/ deceased, their families, and all involved in providing for their care and future safety. I'm hoping we don't rush off on another quick fix, high cost effort that creates more problems.

First JV high school basketball game today for DS. Played as the 6th man today for the most part, chipped in with 6 points, more than a few rebounds and blocks. Pretty good start for him and the team with a 31 point win.

Tomorrow we will have a 3.5 hour drive to a volleyball tournament that probably won't go as well.

Did you use Tabasco sauce on that balderdash? :lmao:

Just some ketchup. I'm a baby now when it comes to spicy.
I used to eat suicide hot wings.... then one day, with tears streaming down my face from the heat, I thought "Why am I doing this?"
The answer of course, was to show off that I could.

Stupid really. So now I go for flavour instead.

Only 9 more hours to go til sleep time!

Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Well, not for you but me. The Pirate Princess scuttled my plans to take it easy and go out for dinner tonight. So, the turkey is brined and waiting to be prepped to go in the oven. Soon the house will be filled with the aroma of roast beast.

The Menu:
Turkey (mine is real, hers is fake)
Mashed Potatoes
Portabello Mushroom Risotto for Stuffing
Steamed Broccoli with Parmesan
Roasted Spaghetti Squash with Truffle Oil (for her not me)
Rolls
Home Made Pumpkin Pie (if your home is Publix)

Chianti Classico as the beverage

It is nice to have the Kid here. We had a good Friday watching movies and catching up. Saturday was a mixed bag. Her friend that did the Discover Scuba course was only able to do one dive, but she had two good ones. On the second dive, a Bull Shark (we think it was a Bull) swam by a couple of times. I stayed ashore and met up with some friends for an adult beverage or two and watch football. GATORS WON! Today she is studying and getting her stuff ready to go back to the cold confines of New Jersey. I am waiting for the Phins game to start so I can watch them lose again.

Feel free to join me with a cocktail as I get ready to gorge myself on turkey.

Happy Sunday. The first and greatest day of the week. It has been a nice, relaxing day with CCD, dive practice for oldest, Mass, and youth group. I'm watching the Panthers game now, along with my consecutive wins in Fantasy Football end.

Just some ketchup. I'm a baby now when it comes to spicy.

!

I like spicy food, but not that spicy. I tend to overspice (heat) the food when I prepare it, so I try to limit my seasoning at home and just add a shot or two of Tobasco for me.

Sounds like a great menu and fun times. I woke up to 34 degrees this AM, and almost loaded the family to drive to Miami.
