DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Happy Sunday. Been a busy weekend. Oldest dd finished strong today at her swim meet, taking off more time from previous starts as well as no Disqualified. This would be the first time. I played tennis indoor this afternoon, which will be my first two times in one week since mid October. The foot feels ok now - tomorrow will be a better sample. Did terrible in fantasy football - left 40 on the bench :furious:. Mass tonight and youth group before yet another crazy week. When is that retirement start again? :lmao:

::yes::

So, were you home with all the deer in your yard? Can you shoot them? Does Canada have processing places as well with rules on numbers killed, etc?

Congrats to DD, well done.

We have deer in the yard everyday. Couldn't shoot them here, too close to houses, plus they were pretty small. You have to have a license and to hunt the females you need to have an antlerless license (there are fewer of those) and you can only take one deer. Not sure what a processing place is.

Where you can take the deer and they will process/ package all the meat for you.

5am comes early on a Monday. At least I'm getting O/T for it.

So... Monday folks. I won't say "happy". That'd be cruel.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Beautiful day here yesterday so got tons of fall clean up yard work done. Unfortunately back to Seattle here today.
Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving? C'mon Man!
It takes us a good 3 weeks between getting out all the decorations and taking down all the stuff that the decorations replace and packing that away. Plus, I spread out over a couple of weekends the outdoor stuff. We used to start on the Friday after Thanksgiving and go non-stop for 3 days but we just can't go at that rate any more. Plus as much as we put into it, I like to enjoy it for more than just a couple of weeks. No worries, as we do not turn on the outdoor stuff until the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Youngest DD played in her Provincial Honour Band last night. Sounded awesome. Played 4 pieces averaging 8 minutes each. Considering they only got together 3 days ago (16 hrs practice) I was amazed at how good they were.

DD had a good day yesterday at Junior Bible Quizzing. Our teams got sent to the west region in Louisville but it was worth the trip as she took first overall. Did better than we expected so we stopped at Cracker Barrel to celebrate. Meal was disappointing but SWMBO pointed out some Christmas presents she wants so it wasn't a complete waste.

Congrats to all the kids on their accomplishments this weekend - well done fellas

That's a lot of cole slaw.

And nothing else.
No, Sauerkraut. lots of sauerkraut.
That way you can eat it with lots of bratwursts

That is a lot of work. Speaking of work, with our new Republican Governor, I may be out of work next year. Time to wait and see if he values the government contract. We are budgeted thru end of FY, I hope.
Best of luck with the new Gov. you may have to move in with CJ sooner than expected.

Nope. Gotta work Wednesday evening. But I (so far... unless the phone rings) do have Tuesday off.
Get an extra 4 hours pay for Wednesday though.

Appreciate that which you have for you can lose everything in the blink of an eye.

It may be an old cliché, but it’s still one we all need to truly remember and pay head to.
I got given a brief chance this weekend to see what it might be like to be an invalid.
such opportunities will very quickly sharpen one’s focus onto what it actually important.

I’m not going to worry y’all with a lot of details and ultimately I’ll likely recover completely so no one need be fretting for me either. But I just felt a bit of a need to say something to someone and truth be told I’m closer “friends” with all y’all than with anyone that I can actually see or talk with day to day.

So May I offer a little bit of thanks for being there gentlemen.

Doll Whips and bacon for all.
You’re good folk.

Surely you don't think Vandy and Florida will be a good game? :lmao: I'm hoping for a Florida LSU SEC Championship game.

For some reason Vandy always plays Florida tough. Ugly game but a win is a win. SEC East Champs. I will take it considering this was going to be a transition year.

Congrats to all. They must take after their mothers, I know mine does.

Hearty well done to your oldest. :thumbsup2

Well, if they are small, they are more tender. We are overrun with them but they still haven't loosened up the hunting. I'm not a hunter but do like venison so am in favor of all my friends hunting more.

Rob, thanks for the reminder and prayers that you recover completely quickly. Those life changing moments have a way of sneaking up on us when we least expect them.
