G'mornin Gents!

Hmm. Page 250. Does that mean anything since the site changed?

Morning.
Hmmm... You know, I don't know anymore... you can put (I believe) 35 pictures in a post now, so... :confused3

‘Morning all…
Just about through the week. Anyone got plans for the weekend?

I don’t think it matters anymore. I talked to some of the Mods about several things after the conversion and got the feeling that the page limit no longer seems to be all that much of an issue. We can run it up all we want, but about the only way they are planning to close a thread is if you ask them to do so.

About the best we could do would be to ask them to close this one and then race to see how long it takes them to act on the request.

As for the time travel, it wouldn't work. I knew all that back then and just didn't listen.
Listen? To someone else’s advice? Back when I was in my 20s?
Bawwwaaahaaahaaa…

Really! And here I thought it'd be a yawner.

You’d think, wouldn’t ya’? But no…
Feel free to ignore this, but (since you gave me the opening) here’s what went on…

This was a high school game for the state championship. The opposing team came in with an undefeated 14-0 record and a nationally ranked offence that averaged 37 points a game and 43 per playoff game. The “home” team showed up with 13-1 record (and that one loss was a 12 to 13 squeaker on the road to the same team they were now facing again), but their main weapon was a defensive squad that had 5 shutouts to their credit, allowed only an average of 7 point per game, and had only given up two field goals so far in the playoffs. Through three quarters we’d seen several long yardage runs, many unbelievable receptions, two key interceptions, a couple of forced fumbles, several turnovers on downs including two separate fourth-and-inches goal line stands and of course, the safety (when a strong rush forced their punter out of the back of the end zone). The last quarter was dominated by a long grinding drive by the opposition that again featured key fourth down pushes to save the drive. With under a minute on the clock they were looking at a fourth and long inside our 15 yard line, so they lined up for what should have been an automatic field goal to win it by 1. The crowd noise on the other side of the field was deafening, but when the ball was snapped, one of our defensive ends got around the corner and blocked the kick. The noise shifted instantaneously from one side of the stadium to the other. Our kids were able to make a first down in the next series and that was enough to be able to run the clock out. Defense wins. Honestly, that really was one of the best afternoons of ball I ever had the chance to watch.

Nope. Read it.
I stand corrected (I sit corrected) that does sound like a pretty darned good game to watch.
My only question is why was the team with the better record not the home team?

Good morning.

I don't think so. No more thread closures for limits or stat keeping. Which means of course, that I am the grand champion.

.

I have plans to get in the Delorean and travel to .....

Well, that ain't gonna happen. I think we have soccer games and swim practice. I think I'm gonna try to rest my foot in hopes that will help.

That is true throughout the playoffs until the finals. Once there, the “home” designation shifts each year between one side of the playoff brackets to the other, but being a championship, that last game is always played on a neutral field (Memorial Stadium at Clemson University in this instance) so home vs away was really only a matter of deciding who was wearing their road jerseys.

I was also using the “home” team label metaphorically as we were watching the kids from my “home” town and alma-mater.

I enjoy good defensive games so much better than the track meet games that seems to be the norm now. It could be because I played defense on a good team;but 12-14 games are so much more fun to watch because one play matters so much more than knowing that the other team is just gonna take it and score too and you are basically racing to see who can get to 60 first.
I don't think we gave up 60 points total all season the last year I played; course we probably didn't score much more than 60 either. Lost in the playoffs 6-3 :(

Williamsburg 2005

The weekend we were there, the British had just taken Williamsburg.

This Redcoat thought she was admiring his horse, when she was actually a colonial spy.

Dad, this is pointed at the Hessian formation, got a match?

Making a Bucket, trying to fit in.

Second time we went there. I bought this outfit the first time at her insistence but I told her she would have to act like one of the interpreters. She loved it. We may make a stop on the drive back from school this Spring.

That sounds like a fantastic, and memorable game.

Happy Monday. It's in the high 60s, and we are going to try tennis one more time tonite. On the other news front, oldest dd tried diving on the HS swim team. She hit a back dive just right & absolutely loved it. She is now one of four divers on the team. She still has to learn the 11 dives, but she has a few years and not much competition. I guess that PADI certification is the next hurdle.

Don't know how I missed this. Big congrats to your oldest. In case she does want to get certified, I know a few places where she can do it. As an added bonus, I know someone that would be happy to dive with her. She is rescue certified so your daughter would be in good hands.

Nope, well other than watching some football. Not a lot of great games but you never know. Gators are off this week so just chilling out, munching on snacks, and sausage, onions and peppers for dinner. There are a few things I need to do around the house but I am going to knock them out early tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Ever heard of the Strassburg sock? Google it if you interested, but it is my newest attempt to fix this foot thing. It may be working.

Thanks. We have a PADI place nearby, although I don't know what certification levels they offer. I've left that up to dd if she wants to pursue it. I'd probably get certified with her, although it has been many years since I've swam any distance.

Hey gents, everyone have an excellent weekend!

You too sir

Hope it works for you

Normal chaotic life as usual so congrats, prayers and bacon all around.

Evening Gents.

Been away at a conference for the last couple of days and got home to find out DS has made the JV basketball team at his high school.

Watching the Jays/Royals game right now, good game tonight.

Happy Saturday morning. It is raining here, so no tennis this AM. It is probably better to give my foot some more rest. One has soccer game and the other has swim. Of course, between swim & dive for club and HS team, she now has 11 practices a week.

Hope it works for you

It feels weird. I haven't tried to sleep in them per the instructions, but I can give it an hour while sitting on the couch. Definitely feels weird.

Normal chaotic life as usual so congrats, prayers and bacon all around.

Same back at ya. I would think life would be a bit less chaotic out there in the mountains for you.

Congrats to DS on making JV. Sorry about your Blue Jays, although, they made a good run. I'll take the Royals in 6 over the Mets.

Dang. So close. You can't get much closer than having a man on third, down by one run.

Of course, between swim & dive for club and HS team, she now has 11 practices a week.

Holy crap! Sleep and eating have been indefinitely postponed, then?

Load up on caffeine and sugar. The years go by quickly.

You would think. Still trying to finish field work season while meetings and reports have kicked in. SWMBO and DD have started clogging and I got drafted to run the music, DD is in her last year of Junior Bible Quizzing and I am the team coach, and DS is learning to play the dulcimer so I drive him to Hazard every week. I'm spending a lot of time on the road aside from work road time. Could be worse though and has been. At least I'm still on the green side of the sod.

Two of them are 6:00 AM practices. We've found protein bars. :lmao:

I don't have the Hazard travel time, just those practices along with season ending soccer practices and season beginning basketball practices for the younger one. Yes, that road time is something.
