DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Building an attached garage on the house. I've spent too much time under vehicles during crummy weather. The whole thing has been very slow going and the framers have only been able to work a day or two per week for the last two weeks. Opening up the side of the house also caused some leakage during the rains. DW is really starting to show her frustrations and the whole project.

I'm hoping for a turn out to sea. With my luck, it will turn directly into central VA. Stay dry my friend.

I just read the discussion for the hurricane and I love how they pick and choose which model they are going to use. One one model tracks the movement closer to US coast. The rest turn the storm Eastward out to sea. It's all a guessing game at this point. Will know more tomorrow afternoon. Been a while since we played this cat and mouse game. :tiptoe:

It has been a good while since one skirted up the coast. another day will tell a different story. Two days and we really should know what's happening. My gut is telling me that the thing is going to scrap along shore, but unless it takes a good turn that'll bring it on land in New England.
Prayers to those in potential harm and that this thing turns out to sea
Pay them off to elope.
Tried to already, no such luck.

I hear it's old timer home coming. I figured I would stop in and say hello. Hello.
Went back a few pages and I noticed I was two months back. I remember the days we could blow through 30 pages in an afternoon. I'm a FBer now. Held out for years, people bugged me to join and now they wish I would go away. Lol ( also lets me keep an eye on that whack job lake lol ) For those not on fb, he got a new row boat and the spinners are gone. But, the new trailer has blinking, neon fish on the rims. Gone getto !! Lol
Got to meet up with him again in May. Didn't get a chance in September, we were a little pinched for time and it was pouring. But, i don't know if I should push my luck more than once a year.lol
Hope all the non FBers are well and everyone is doing good.
I haven't been around to much in a long time so I don't know most of the guys anymore. Heck, I didn't even know most of the guys on the fb group.
I'm still here. We are all well, we're still spending our retirement money at the world. Just came back from a 12 day, steak, bacon, eggs, wine trip with dw at the boardwalk. I posted a lot, everyday and people think I'm Nuts. Most said " geez, is that all you do is eat and drink when your there?" Lol Had a meet up with a long time dad while we were there. Another great guy and family. ( and just another dad who looked like I was old enough to be his father ) lol.
We are going to do a 14 night trip next September. Two weeks dw has to put up with me!!!! I have another two weeks vacation to use up so I was thinking of doing a disdads, drop in visit tour next year. Not to far, maybe 5-6 states.just me solo. There are a few dads I have known and talked to for years and never met in person. There are a few I have met and haven't seen in years and would love just to stop for a hand shake ( and a hug ) !!
I'll see what I can do and see how the winter goes.
Keep in touch !!!
Great to hear from you again Dave - good to hear all is well with you and yours.

Another 150 miles driven today and played tennis again tonight. I'll only have another month, maybe 2 before it will be too cold to play outside. That move to CJ's looks good right about now.

Been in the hills and hollers today and was given an appreciation for the lovely place I live. Hard to believe some of the places I saw. The fitting end to the day was passing by the "Curl Up and Dye Hair Salon".

Just remember gentlemen it could always be worse.

We have one of those stores here. It's either a franchise, or two people thought of the same name for a business.

Glad you got some rest yesterday... sounds like you really needed after all that tennis playing you've been doing.
!

Yes, not as sore today. Still a long way to go to be healthy again.

Day three of posting !!!! yea me.
All I am going to say is :( :( :( need to catch a break to be able to get my Disney fix.

Three days in a row. Next thing you know, there will be a hurricane.

I sent you 2 vouchers when I mailed in my dues. did you lose them already?

No, they never arrived. Go ahead and mail them again. :lmao:

Afternoon lads. Great to see more Dads dropping in lately, good to hear from those that made this place so welcoming and friendly when I first joined in. Not much new around here other than DW is driving me nutz with DD wedding stuff and the thing is 20 months out :drinking1
.

So, instead of Bridezilla, it's mother of Bridezilla? :lmao: Good luck.

Funny how FB has taken the attention away from this group. Now it's like this space is snail mail and FB is texting. lol

Maybe that's why I can follow along here.

 Dave! I saw on FB where you were going to do the two weeks at BWV. How do you like that resort compared to OKW? Yell if you are in KY on the road tour, although there is not much in my home town.

Four in a row.! Old timer week continues. 163 days till kids march down main st with band. Hope all doing good on this beautiful thursday.

Nice to meet you @dvczerfs.
Guess I'm one of those newbs although I've been on the boards for a while.

Morning Guys.

Took the day off yesterday, hoping to get in some golf but it ended up being one of the wettest days we've had in a long time. Lots of rain and wind led to flooding, road washouts and no power. Suppose to clear off today but I hear there is a hurricane working it's way up the coast that may have an impact here as well. Should be a fun few days.

Have a good one all.

Dave! It really MUST be homecoming week. Just need to get the Chris's back in here and we'll all be piling into that DIS Dad's bus after all! :rotfl2:

Glad you had a great trip! Had fun following along with you on FB... especially those selfies and the people in the background looking like you are some sort of nut. ha! I hear you like the Mine ride ;)

Good to hear from ya! Stay dry!

Mmmmm... golf. I've made a few tee times this week but the rain has been unrelenting. Hoping for clear skies after this storm stuff moves out. Stay safe up there!

‘Morning all…
Hope it was one of y’all that bought that winning Powerball ticket.

We need a pipeline to ship some of this rain water over to the left coast.
At least I live on fairly high ground. We’re already at saturation levels and the forecasts don’t look good for those in the flood plains.

You are just a tennis playing machine.
Oh and we all missed where you went and got yourself officially older yesterday.
Our bad…

Happy Belated Birthday sir.

 That’s a fairly old joke. I’ve no idea who thought of it first, but the first place I remember seeing it was in the Blues Brothers film. It’s where Jake’s fiancé worked and was studying up on the finer points of surplus flame thrower operation…

Good to hear from you sir. It’s like an old-timers convention ‘round here.
Glad y’all are well up that way and as for “spending our retirement money at the world”…
Well, it seems to me that the object of the game is to run out of money and air at as close to the same time as possible, so I’d say you were doing precisely what ought to be done.

Tried to already, no such luck.
Up the offer.
Send them to Hawaii even.
Even that’d likely be cheaper and less stressful in the long run.

Hay now…
No spoilers.

You are tempting fate.
You gonn’a try for 167?

The kids will have a blast down there. WDW is such great trip for school bands.

That sounds very cool, I assume you are going with? Traveled to WDW with DD's soccer team twice for tournaments, was fun going with a large group.

NOAA currently has likely landfall somewhere between Cape Hatteras and the Delaware River.

Not a big fan of that idea.

I hear it's old timer home coming. I figured I would stop in and say hello. Hello.

Hello Dave!

Drizzly, gray, and cool. Would have been a good day to stay in bed but with the teacher and students around, the office is quieter. All you dads in the path of Joaquin stay safe.

Welcome back and thanks for the update on Fed. I'm almost tempted to get on FB just to see pictures of the boat.

I've got that covered here though I am not quite the oldest. Our Chief Bacon Officer may have that. Wonder who the youngest is? Jeremy had been but it has been ages since we heard from him.

Not a big fan of that idea.
They must have heard you.

NOAA has shifted the three-day track a bit farther east. Landfall is now estimated for Long Island but the strength will depend on how fast it gets moving north. More time over colder water will slow it down. The "Cone of Uncertainty" still covers most of the original area though so we're all likely to get rather wet. Give it another day before we can really tell, but we may need to wake up Tim, Paul and Jim. Make sure they're keeping an eye out.

Drizzly, gray, and cool. Would have been a good day to stay in bed but with the teacher and students around, the office is quieter. All you dads in the path of Joaquin stay safe.
Same stuff we got here, and a day curled up in bed wouldn't be a bad thing.

Wonder who the youngest is?
Certainly ain't me, that's for sure.

Life of CJ update. The Brit and I drove down to the Keys Tuesday and it did not do much other than storm. Lots of flooding along the beaches. Was better yesterday and today is beautiful. I think the hurricane cleared all the carp out. Hopefully it will not make landfall. The gang is going out on the boat to look at fishes. I declined because Tues. night and most of yesterday I spent riding the porcelain bus. Sicker than a dog. Was able to eat a little this morning so hopefully the worst is over. Going to try to dive tomorrow.

See some old timers popped in and hopefully I can gaze back and see what wisdom they imparted.

I feel like a grumpy old man on the FB group. I don't know who half those guys are, conversations disappear left and right...

Right?! I tried to keep up, but there was just too much going on there for me. I must be getting old.
