DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Transmission was fixed. Picked up tumbler. Drove to work. Key won't turn to be removed from ignition. Back at the mechanic. I'm hoping Friday starts sometime today.

‘Don’t know. I think work may always interfere in one form or another. I don’t really see retirement in any rational sense as even possible. I’m already at the age where discrimination is acceptable so when I’m finally thrown out of this job, it will take two or three to replace it (and likely those will be lacking in benefits and time off). It’s not looking promising.
d.

That's kinda morbid. I gave up on my dream retirement of living in Golden Oak. But, I'm keeping hope alive for an age 50 retirement, house near Cocoa Beach, and time to enjoy the beach and WDW.

Hmm...over 24 hours since this was posted, and no word from CJ.

Yup, he's in jail.

::yes::

:lmao:
I can drive down after Crash and her dude go back to school and mooch there awhile.

Chico's Bail Bonds can be your friend.

The kid seems allright but I don't know. He has a goofy laugh that is annoying. They went out this morning to take an airboat ride in the Everglades and I volunteered to go with them to show him around. The Pirate Princess wasn't too keen on that idea.

If she doesn't like the laugh, then he's gone.

I may have a problem... every day at work I put on my headphones and queue up "Disney's California Adventure - Golden State - Soarin' Over California ~ Queue Music" on d-cot and loop it all day long. My dreams are starting to use the music in the background. Anyone see a problem with this?? :music:

No problem with that. Enjoy the music.

Yes. You're working too much.

Happy Friday evening gentlemen, and by that I mean may it be better than my evening which will be spent trying to fix a electric dryer.

Yes… yes we did
Got to see 8 of the top-10 at a show in Winston Salem a couple weeks ago; Heck of an evening. I even wrote up a little bit about it as a side piece in my current excuse for a TR (because I like to abuse my readers ya’ know). They’re all up in Indy now for the championships. Apparently last night’s prelims was a wild and woolly affair; lots of shifting in positions. We’ll see how it shakes out and who takes the “Crown” on Saturday (obviously I have a favorite)...

I may just have to make an executive decision and shoot for a competition in OH next summer, Lord willing. There are a few up that way that the parents could make it to. Mom never really got into much getting dragged around with her boyfriend who became dad, but he was in a Junior and Senior Corps for many years until kids and other responsibilities came along.

Nope. If it was Small World then that would be a problem.

Best wishes on that dream. I passed 50 so it isnt even a dream.

Kane might be in trouble.
Yep, what a dumb a$$. Lost respect for him regardless of what details and charges come to follow. Got the world in the palm of your hand and potetentially do something like this? Hope Hawks have a behavior clause in his new $84 million contract. Prayers to the young lady involved.
We’re hauling the Boy back up into the mountains tomorrow as well.
Year number three underway

Wish I was back on the ship as well. It’s hard to beat the lap of luxury…
(it’s hard to pay for it as well, but one can dream).
Safe travels and good luck to the young fella on year 3. Consider while at home sit on the porch, patio or deck and play the DCL play list on d-cot. Not the real thing but it does help a bit.

Nice try but join the club - epic fail.

Nope have my own favorites playlist on d-cot - gets me through a many tough day.

Sorry about the continued vehicle mess. If it makes ya feel any better we now have an oven on the fritz. (DW car accident, tree crash, DD transmission ( only needed fluid changed), wedding costs, college fees".......).

Car fixed. It took about 10 minutes. I'm not smart enough to know what he said, but it sounded minor and with that quick time frame, it didn't sound like much. Enjoyed some nice pizza and beer tonite after a long week. After driving the Camry 150 miles a day, riding in the Corvette to get the tumbler, it felt like I was driving a tank. If I have the money to buy a toy, then I would go with a Jeep.

Best wishes on that dream. I passed 50 so it isnt even a dream.

I'm making plans for it to be a reality. It might be closer to 52, but the plan should be to have the house paid off, cash flow college, retire, draw Teachers Retirement, sell/ buy/ snowbird in Florida, and then IRA at 59+.

Wedding and college expenses. Not looking forward to that.

As long as our benefit holds, my girls get free tuition, but I'll have to do the dorm expenses since they can't commute from here. As for our wedding, DW and I got married in the back yard. Her great uncle, a minister, performed the ceremony. We did invitations on computer printer for about 50, and closer to 150 people showed. We had tables/ chairs from a church, put out a lot of food, keg of beer, and threw a great party afterwards. She went thru RCIA the following year, converted to Catholicism, and we had our marriage blessed in the church. A cousin recorded our wedding as a present. It certainly wasn't the fanciest of weddings, but we had a great time, and a great story to tell.

Morning guys,

quick post from our beautiful cottage in Cavendish PEI. Made a side trip on the way to get DS's finger checked. The cast came off, the wire came out and a splint was put on. He was also given clearance to start playing soccer again. Not sure who was happier, him or his coach.

Have a good one.

The tuition perk is a nice one for you, hope that benefit remains. Know several folks that work at Vanderbilt that have same perk and they are obviously loving it.

Good news on the finger and happy for DS, and his coach.

Morning guys,

Beautiful day down here but it will reach 100+ feels like though. Alligators did not get the boyfriend and they made it safely back from the Glades. Today is beach day. Maybe a stray shark will wander by and shake his hand. Either that or the sun may melt him. I plan on doing absolutely nothing today except shopping for tomorrow's dinner.

Congrats on the ending of the car problems. Good plan you have for the future, hope it works out.

Really good news all around. Enjoy the cottage and watching him on the field again. Can I assume he will not be playing goalie anytime soon?

So not good news all around, then.

I would have, but the only chicken I have is going to get an open beer can shoved up his butt and cooked on the Weber tomorrow. Stay tuned for pictures.

I strongly suggest doing that to one that's already dead and cleaned.

That is one of the reasons I stay where I am right now.

Thanks. And, good luck on that shark thing.

TBT

First time on R&RC. May 8, 2000, 4:24:26 pm. Love her expression.

After getting off the ride, she grabbed my hand and got right back in line.

Great photo! I've seen that look in here eyes before, but it was at mile 20 of the marathon and she had a shiv in her hand... :crazy2:
