DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

I'm supposed to be in Spain at this time next week. Still trying to wrap my brain around that. High school Spanish was 30 years ago.
Sorry, it’s changed in 30 years. Now it’s French.
I've never turned down a vacation before, never been offered one but wouldnt turn it down. :rotfl2:
I usually have to make them let me take one.
But got good news, I hit 15 years this December, and they are giving me a sabbatical. 4 weeks consecutive paid vacation.
Nice!

That's awesome!

Honestly, I don't think this would change much for me. Unless it means they're serving more snails in the restaurants.

Enjoy your trip, hope to visit some day.
Where all are yall going?
It's mostly to visit my son in Madrid. He's studying abroad there this semester, so that gave us an excuse to visit. Was fortunate enough to be able to cash in some frequent flier miles for cheap plane tickets.

My wife and I are going to spend 24 hours in Barcelona so we can see the Sagrada Familia and then the rest of the time around Madrid hanging out with our son. I'm nervous about the language barrier but we'll muddle our way through the best we can.

It also seems the Spanish have weird meal times so that's going to be an adjustment too. They're just starting dinner when this old fart is ready to go to bed!

Sounds like fun.
From what I've heard in the larger cities you can get by with English fairly well.

They do like their late nights, but they do take a 2-3hr nap in the middle of the day to make up for it.

When I started with my current employer, I didn’t know any Spanish. The only word, that I can type here that you need to know…..Bano. Pronounced Bon yoe. Trust me, you’re gonna need it. lol.
In some cases, when the urge hits, there just isn’t enough time for a language barrier. lol.

Now that one I do know! :rotfl2:

Mostly I was planning to answer every comment with "Por favor mantenganse alejado de las puertas."

Happy Saturday everyone! Just catching up on missed sleep, okay, the sleep deprivation we endure for marathon weekend, but, i digress. I’m off today and tomorrow, I’m working Wednesday, off Thursday, off to Tampa for a hockey game. My Christmas present for the kid. Off Friday, work Saturday and Sunday and off again Monday and Tuesday. They want to give me paid vacation days, I’m going to take them. I’m beginning to like this full time stuff.
It’s that time of year again, the license plates start turning colors here in Florida……yippppeeeeeeeeee.
