DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning fellas from a misty, almost Dickensian London. Shock horror, going back into the office tomorrow. 15 months since my last visit. Calls today, work has calmed down a touch for me, but its just the lull before the storm.

I really prefer the english soccer format to the playoff MLS structure. But, I guess it's you Brittons that want to try & emulate us.
Look at the nationality of 4 of the 6 owners, and it all suddenly becomes clear.
Meh. I was in town and I never got a biscuit.
I got 2, I must have had your one. Except they served me a scone. Looks like you got my cuddle though. I'm OK with the way it turned out.
BLASPHEMER!!!!!
Where's the Tiki torches? We haven't had a good ol fashioned witch burning in ages.
Fast forward to today. Going back to work for same company I worked for(and.liked) when I first moved here. More in line with what I enjoy and a healthy raise to boot. So, got written offer tonight and turning in notice Friday.
To paraphrase the great Hannibal from the A team, gotta love it when a plan comes together. Even if you didn't plan it.

Anyways, have a great Tuesday. Y'all.

Morning, Gents! For the next two days I'll be at an office I've not been to yet, so I'm looking forward to that. But, what's interesting about this office is that it's next door to the last place I worked at, and was let go from....so it'll be interesting to see how I feel driving up that street. I will be on my own at the front desk, which I can handle, but it always makes me nervous because I still don't know everything yet. Either way, I'm looking forward to it. That's it, have a good day, guys.

TTFN

I've never had good biscuits and gravy. I made some once, but... have no idea if what I made was good or not, having nothing to compare it to.

Love me some good biscuits and gravy. Mmmmmm

Well, not all gravy goes on fries and cheese curds.

How dare you cuss in here.

It is sausage gravy and is very yummy.

But, on the other hand, it's a Southern thing...you yankees wouldn't understand. :lmao:

I may live in New England, and thus a Yankee, though I don't support the NY Yankees, but I'm not from New England. Sausage gravy is great! Mmmmm

On a totally different note (and yes, I'm up past my bed time)...

The job I thought I was going to get fell through. They wanted me to get a cert...I did. 2 days later they pulled the plug. Not quite sure what the rational was.

I was pissed. I was planning on turning in my notice and couldn't.

Fast forward to today. Going back to work for same company I worked for(and.liked) when I first moved here. More in line with what I enjoy and a healthy raise to boot. So, got written offer tonight and turning in notice Friday.

When HE closes one door, HE opens another.

Congrats on the new gig!

BLASPHEMER!!!!!

::yes:: :thumbsup2

Where's the Tiki torches? We haven't had a good ol fashioned witch burning in ages.

(Goes to the shed to look for my torches) (singing) "Do you hear the people sing, singing the songs of angry men...."

Well when Londontime PMs you, you might be delinquent in checking in around these parts. It has been a bit and sorry to hear of some of the tough times for some going on. Work has been crazy busy, but should not be a reason not to pop in here. Family stuff is hectic, but a good hectic. DW visited DD last week spending money on the new mom to be. DS has his graduation ceremony this Saturday so we are looking forward to our last visit to Chattanooga - been 8 great years of the kids at college but looking forward to not having the associated costs. Then in a couple of weeks DD and SIL come into town for the baby gender reveal and me, DW 7 DS countdown for DaWorld is 24 days to celebrate his graduation. Bacon, bourbon, cigars and Mickey Bars! Stay safe out there
Made it to Sunday. My dad is still going. My mom doesn't want to overmedicate him because he will get addicted. I gave him his first doses of morphine and haldol today. He's resting a lot better now.
Sorry to hear Norm, those situations are not easy, positive thoughts for you, your mom and the family
Long long long day glad it’s over. My grandpa passed away suddenly this afternoon. He was 90 and lived a long life. He treated me like a son as he had 3 daughters and I was the first grandchild and a boy. He will be missed. Now to plan a short notice trip to California.
My condolences to you and your family

Nice to see someone appreciating my work. At about 23 mins in if you are totally bored you can see the store......

Whelp. Being at work I can't see the vid. Maybe I'll remember to look later. Don't hold your breath. I frequently forget.
Then in a couple of weeks DD and SIL come into town for the baby gender reveal
Cool. So do you do the whole Go to California and burn down part of the state? Always thought that was an interesting way to do it.

I will confess, I fast-forwarded to the 23-minute mark. Nice work, bud. Next time tell them to get some footage of the interior!

Let that be a lesson to you. Good to hear from you, Mike.

:rotfl:These are getting more and more ridiculous. I think the injury/death toll from gender reveals gone wrong has surpassed the number from people attempting selfies with wild animals in national parks.

I'm like the Ed Rooney of the boards. I track down vagabonds that are not putting their hours in.
I will hold you back for another year, young man, if I feel you are not making the effort.

Can Ed Rooney be bribed?

You may be right! Then again... it's almost exactly the same type of person doing both.

"Well." Said from the hospital bed. "It's a girl. But the grass fire startled the bear so it mauled me. I guess that's fair."

Another long day. Work at 8 AM and now home from tennis. Again, these 12 hour days are way too long but also serve as a distraction.

Oldest dd should have wrapped up the number 2 seed in the region tonight. It isn't as sophisticated as EPL, but it is based on head to head match-ups. A late season upset might have an impact, but the schedule is favorable.

Since we had the bagel debate, is there a scone debate? I've had a few, but always thought of how dry they were. Is that normal?

I don't know what I'm doing most of the time. I think the pace is just too much. I guess the others are way more capable, or it explains the high turnover rate.

Thanks. Enjoy the pre-grandparent festivities and congratulations to your son and your wallet.

Morning chaps from another sunny day in the mother country. Light day today, so I'm just gonna enjoy it. I bought a T Bone that looked good on Saturday, that may be lunch today.

I've had a few, but always thought of how dry they were. Is that normal?
They should be slightly dry and crumbly as you you put about half a pound of clotted cream on it, accompanied with some strawberry jam.

Hopefully it lasts longer than the Super League. If it gets to 3 days, it's there.
Can Ed Rooney be bribed?
Ed Rooney is a paragon of virtue. Apart from breaking into Ferris Bueller's house.

Thanks buddy
There was about 5 mins after the outside shots with a walk through of the inside, praising my undeniable talents of laying out and merchandising shops ;)

Have a good one all....

Morning, Gents! Good day yesterday. The office wasn't as busy as I thought it was going to be, but today may prove different...so we'll see. Well, that's it. Have a good day.

Congrats to your DD...totally awesome.

I don't know what I'm doing most of the time. I think the pace is just too much. I guess the others are way more capable, or it explains the high turnover rate.

I sometimes worry too much about stuff that might happen rather than jumping in and doing the job, which is what usually winds up happing anyways, I just worry too much.

::yes:: I've always thought they were actually just bits of plaster that crumbled off the wall, and someone put them on a plate as a prank.

Hopefully it still looks good today!

Thanks buddy

Ah, my apologies. For some reason, I couldn't get the sound to work, so I just saw the exterior and then they moved on to some models and I thought that was it.

Thanks for clearing it up so I could view your masterwork. I gotta say, the Lego "tree" in the rotunda area was pretty epic. Nice job. I'll let you have the weekend off.

No afternoon tea for you if you ever visit London. Which is a shame, as IMHO it is the absolute pinnacle of civilised society. Especially if you get one of the bottomless champagne ones.
Nice job. I'll let you have the weekend off.
I'll take that.
Hopefully it still looks good today!
It was. Steak and Eggs. Not too shabby for a Wednesday lunch

Top O the Mornin Dads! Really looking forward to Saturday and a day/night away for DS grad. Not much else around here other than the pre-grandparent stuff going on but I'll try not to comment on that too much. Looking at dining plans last night for July trip and realized just 6 weeks between trips to DaWorld! DD & SIL are planned to go with us but they could have some work / scheduling challenges. Bacon, Bourbon, Cigars and Mickey Bars!

Hang in there Norm, positive vibes my friend and best of luck to DD
