DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
in with some good news: I'VE BEEN EXTENDED AND AM BEING MOVED TO A NEW JOB!!!!! Woohoo! The job I'll be doing is Reception, so I'll be working with the public/patients directly, but this will give me a lot of experience in scheduling as well as other areas within the reception arena. Also, being a floater will give me exposure to lots of different people and contacts, so plenty of opportunities to network. Also, if I do a good job, and they like me, which honestly shouldn't be a problem as long as I do a good job and I'm friendly, they'll buy my contract out and bring me on fulltime. So excited. Just wanted to drop that little bit of happy news off. Have a good afternoon.
Great news!!!! Congrats!

Yeah, it's not my boss. It's the boss's boss, and not even hospital leave policy. I already told my boss I wouldn't be there either way - with or without pay, but I should have enough leave time by then. She didn't seem to have a problem with it. I could have just not said anything and then called in sick. I'm too old to play these games anymore.
Yeah...problem is common sense isn't common and if people would consider what they'd do if it was THEIR daughter.

Hey, congratulations! Hope it works out long term.

You guys really need a better title than "floater", though.

I keep thinking there's a world where rational-thinking people acknowledge that their employees have lives outside the office.

Morning brethren from the mother country. A 11lb Brisket has just turned up at my doorstep, so that's Sunday's dinner sorted. And my Mum's dinner, and Monday/Tuesday lunch, realistically.....

I feel like the IASW fans should be defending me on behalf of all irritating earworms everywhere.
And where were you when the arrows were flying at us?
We're just happy someone else is taking the flak for a change.

Fantastic mate, congrats, that's some good news right there
Also, being a floater
This means obviously something very different in the US. I won't expand on the point in case you are enjoying breakfast.
Mornin’ Men,
Just been busy with my shop being built.
Me and you both.

Have a great day chaps, from the Bricksburg trenches.

Morning, all. About 2 more hours to go until freedom for a little bit.
I used to think that shift work and midnight shifts would get easier over time.
You know... I'd "get used" to them.
I used to think that.

A 11lb Brisket has just turned up at my doorstep,
I'm not sure if I'd have the courage to eat anything that I found laying outside my front door.

Morning All.

Happy Friday and my one day March Break. DW and I headed into town for the night later today. DS's birthday dinner tomorrow night, he has requested scallop stir fry.

Have a good one all.

Gentlemen, how are we on this, the last day of the work week? I'm still on cloud 9 after yesterday's news of being extended and moved into a different dept. Looks like I'll be making sure my office attire fits and is in proper order or I'll be having to head out to go shopping. Outside that, I've got nothing. Have a good day and we'll chat later.

Happy Thursday. I'm on Mother/Baby unit today. I hope this isn't a usual rotation spot.

Yeah, it's not my boss. It's the boss's boss, and not even hospital leave policy. I already told my boss I wouldn't be there either way - with or without pay, but I should have enough leave time by then. She didn't seem to have a problem with it. It sounds like you have a good boss. Like you, I don't call in sick just so I could go do something, I'll just take the day off.

Congratulations. The only part of being a floater myself is learning all the multiple areas. Still, like you said, it makes you even more relevant. I think the plan is 4 ten hour days, 7 to 5:30, rotating actual work days.

Thanks, man, I'm excited about this opportunity. This could lead in many different directions, like scheduling if I wanted. I found out that is one thing I'll be trained on next week.

Way to go!!

:thumbsup2 Thanks

Great news!!!! Congrats!

Thanks, man.

Yeah...problem is common sense isn't common and if people would consider what they'd do if it was THEIR daughter.

I've seen this happen many a times before

Hey, congratulations! Hope it works out long term.

Thanks, man. :thumbsup2

You guys really need a better title than "floater", though.

"Hobo" comes to mind. :teeth: "Good morning, I'm the hobo receptionist here to fill in today."

I keep thinking there's a world where rational-thinking people acknowledge that their employees have lives outside the office.

Why someone would think that employees have lives outside of the office is beyond me. I mean, come on! Don't all employees live to serve and worship the office/work? :worship:

Congratulations

Thanks.

Yeah, what he said. 👇

I have an idea of which you speak....and thanks for sparing us.

Oh, I was launching arrows with abandon. :rotfl2:

I was thinking the same thing. Shows where my brain is.

I'm not sure if I'd have the courage to eat anything that I found laying outside my front door.

Never question gifts from the Brisket Fairy.

Happy birthday, Declan!

Congrats! Sounds like you are moving out of the home office.

Happy birthday, Declan!

Birthday is actually Tuesday but tomorrow is the only day that works.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one standing in La Cava Del Tequila in Mexico after several Avocado Margaritas gets to go home with Tiana. And let me tell ya, you wanna get your hands on those man catching beignets.

Have a great weekend chaps.

Yeah Friday. I'm glad this week is over. I like the work, although it is more than I really want to do. I really like the money. I'll be looking forward to a couple days off. Last weekend was a blur with the tennis tournament.

Great news!!!! Congrats!

Yeah...problem is common sense isn't common and if people would consider what they'd do if it was THEIR daughter.

I think my boss gets it, and I said I'm ok to switch days with someone. It's just sad that anyone thought that would be a good policy. Once you draw that hard of a line, then you have to give exemptions or have people quit. Neither one is a good choice.

Speculation released on the new Star Wars themed hotel/ experience today. Any thoughts?

Good luck. I know your excited about the change. Hopefully, they will put you in full time.

I like that double entendre. Tiana and beignets? Or, Tiana's beignets? You're winning either way.

Also, being a floater

Happy pre-birthday to the boy.

Feel like death warmed over and then sh*t on. Other than that, not bad.

mmmm... beignets.

Take that any way you want.
Or, Tiana's beignets under a pile of beignets that you have to work through first......
:thumbsup2
