So I just got off the phone with my supervisor who told me that this may be my last week here in this dept. I knew this was a temp job, but was hoping this would go full time. Oh well. I've already contacted my staffing agency to see if they can get me moved into another position/dept., like the HR person mentioned when I was interviewed, so we'll see. Keep your fingers crossed for me, and if you're the praying type, say a prayer.

Teacher's pet. ;)

Jealous?
I would've thought KY gets snow often enough and deep enough, they'd be more prepared. I know it paralyzed Atlanta, but it's more rare there (I thought)

I could be wrong, maybe Kentucky gets more snow than I thought.

Back at work this afternoon after a blissful two weeks off. Oddly enough, I'm 99% not really wanting to, but... 1% curious to see what's new around there.... Maybe 0.5%.

I'm sure that 0.5% will get drummed out of you in short order.

7.5 km this afternoon on the treadmill, using a couple of running videos of AK and MK for motivation. Took 61 minutes but it didn't really feel that long.

Nice job. I'm sure running is better in Disney parks than anywhere else.

Not bad! I can't run on treadmills. I find it too high impact. As a result I didn't run for two weeks during our cold spell (I don't go if it's colder than -20). When I ran again (3k on Wed, 5k on Thu, and 5k on Fri) it just about killed me. Hopefully can get back in the groove.

Interesting. The treadmill is more high impact for you than pavement?

I've been using an elliptical to avoid the impact on my feet too. Seems to be working well. I can't do an elimination diet because I like foods that taste good too much to stick to them. But I've been counting calories lately, reducing portions and avoiding late night snacks, and that plus the elliptical seems to be working. Down about 10 lbs. over the last month or so.

I even hit a high C, something I haven't done in years as well, and I did that 5x in one hour.

I love a good High C, very refreshing in summer on a hot day. Probably has too much sugar in it for me now though.

Dang. Sorry to hear that, I know you were enjoying the work. Hope they find something else for you.

I'd give it an hour after returning to work for that 0.5% to be drummed out.

Nice job. I'm sure running is better in Disney parks than anywhere else.

I love the elliptical, it's great on the knees and ankles. And I lost over 60 lbs several years ago from just cutting back on how much I eat, so a lot better than fad diets in my book

Right?! Nice cool refreshing High C is a great way to cool off in the summer. :teeth:

Dang. Sorry to hear that, I know you were enjoying the work. Hope they find something else for you.

Thanks. Hoping something will come along.

Evening guys from a busy London. Fell out of the habit of getting on here, and relying on the book of face.
Hope everyone is well and getting on with it. Whatever it is. Looks like we have a roadmap today to come out of lockdown, so let's see how that goes. It will be nice to see some mates face to face again.
Off added sugar and massively cutting down on portions, with all the rain fell out of running a bit, yet unsurprisingly kept my calorie intake up, so put on a few pounds. If I cut out Candy, Beer and Snacks, it tends to get back off.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, and if you're the praying type, say a prayer.
Sorry buddy, that sucks. I will uphold the crossy fingers end of that request, and leave it to others on here for the chat with the big guy. Lets hope they come up with an alternative.
Interesting. The treadmill is more high impact for you than pavement?
Sometimes, also you tend to use the same muscles in the same way, as there's no variation in the road level, or moving about to swerve obstacles. But they are great when there isn't an option, I've often almost pulled the trigger. I have a ski trainer that's kinda like an elliptical which helps out with my achilles.

Have a good day y'all...

Back at work again. It's been a busy day.

For some reason, I always thought you played on an outdoor court.

As popular as pickleball is now, there are indoor and outdoor courts. There are even newly dedicated facilities. Some just use two sets of lines on tennis courts. Some basketball courts just add pickleball tape to create lines to play on, and drag over a net.

Morning, Gents! Had a good day yesterday, and a good rehearsal. It appears that while I wasn't the only one that hadn't really prepared and learned their music early, I was a lot farther along than some of the cast members, which made me feel better with regards to my music learning skills. I guess I didn't lose it after all. One would think that after years of not having one of your skill sets...uh, pushed(?), streteched(?), I'm drawing blank on the word I'm looking for, but you get the point, that learning music quickly would be difficult. But it wasn't. While I don't play the piano, which would certainly help me learn my music quicker, I can, and do, play my notes...which helps. I even hit a high C, something I haven't done in years as well, and I did that 5x in one hour. That felt good. That high C could most certainly use some polishing and a bit more focus, but considering I haven't hit one on years I thought I did pretty good. Over all it was a good day and I'm happy with what I did. Now on to Monday. Have a good day, Gents, and we'll chat later.

Having a vacation home/condo in sunny Florida would be wonderful. And yeah, finding one without an HOA would be impossible, I'm sure. You said you wouldn't own that vacation destination, why? Are you looking only to rent once a year?

Glad to hear rehearsal went well. If you rented the same place for 30 years, it would have been better to own it. The challenge is how long you rent vs buy. I would like to own that Florida property now as a place to vacation while we are still working. Later, it's an option to rent for additional income. Maybe 10 years from now, I'd just live their permanently. DW has a whole different time table and wants to try renting in different areas before we buy. There's a lot of experimenting destinations though.

Not sure if you'll find ocean front or condo, per se, but I'm pretty sure the apt a friend rented in Satellite Beach had no HOA. It was right across A1A and you're at the beach.

I would've thought KY gets snow often enough and deep enough, they'd be more prepared. I know it paralyzed Atlanta, but it's more rare there (I thought)

With an apartment, still paying HOA fees, just thru the rent. They may call them something else. I wouldn't mind it though. It's that issue of ownership vs renting.

KY doesn't get much snow. We may get more in the mountains, but not much where I am. Maybe one or two snowfalls a year without any accumulation. It's when it stays below frezing temp with snow that we aren't prepared.

I'm jealous that you can miss a few snacks and drop 10 lbs in a month, especially when you are about as big as one of my legs. Still congrats.

Been a few since stopping by. As Dan referenced, been following on the face of book. Had a 3 day weekend and gonna have another one this coming weekend as I need to use up roll over vacation time from 2020 before end of March. First time in I can't recall that we are not taking a spring break in March at DaWorld as DS school canned spring break in favor of a longer gap in returning to school after the holidays. Seems like all are doing o.k., so with that, stay safe out there

Bacon, bourbon, cigars and mickey bars!

Hoping things keeping moving along that trend.

If I cut out Candy, Beer and Snacks, it tends to get back off.

Someone should do something about that.

How about a Hawaiian Punch?

I'm not falling for that one again.

I'm jealous that you can miss a few snacks and drop 10 lbs in a month, especially when you are about as big as one of my legs. Still congrats.

I'm eating less, too. So the trade-off is that I'm hungry all the time.

So I just got off the phone with my supervisor who told me that this may be my last week here in this dept.
Oh, man. Sorry to hear that. Hope you get back in.
I'm sure that 0.5% will get drummed out of you in short order.
Very short order.
Interesting. The treadmill is more high impact for you than pavement?
Yes.
For me, I find that it's harder on me because the tread moves and it's that, that hurts. Kinda like... if you drop a ball on a stopped treadmill it bounces straight back up, but if the treadmill is moving it kicks the ball across the room.

I actually own an elliptical too, but I don't like it. I did use the stairmaster at work (zero impact too), but our gym has been closed pretty much since Covid started.
I'd give it an hour after returning to work for that 0.5% to be drummed out.
You'd be wrong. It was much shorter than that.
with all the rain fell out of running a bit, yet unsurprisingly kept my calorie intake up, so put on a few pounds.
Same here, but cold instead of rain.
Plus we went on a (very) mini holiday and hotel/restaurant food is not meant to keep the waistline slim.

Interesting. I guess I didn't think it was popular enough to warrant indoor courts.

Morning, Gents! It's Tuesday...that's about all I've got. Have a good day.

Thanks

Evening guys from a busy London. Fell out of the habit of getting on here, and relying on the book of face.

We were beginning to feel ignored over here. Glad to see you back.

Hope everyone is well and getting on with it. Whatever it is. Looks like we have a roadmap today to come out of lockdown, so let's see how that goes. It will be nice to see some mates face to face again.

Good to hear you guys have a roadmap. Can't wait to get out of this COVID thing.

Glad to hear rehearsal went well.

Thanks, and I had fun doing it. I haven't been in a show in a number of years, so it was fun.

I see you're point, but I can also see about wanting to rent in different areas to get a feel for what you want in the long run. However, if you have been renting the same place for years it would have been better to buy. It's never easy when you're figuring this stuff out.

Prayers for you. Hopefully, you can get something soon and similar.

Thanks, appreciate it. Something will come along. My contact at the staffing company has reached out to her contact at the hospital to see what's going on. As a reminder, this person in HR is the same person who told me that maybe they can move me to a job more inline with my skills, so we'll see. I do, however, have something to admit, I haven't been playing around in the training program, something I'm going to rectify this week. I opened it up this morning and played around in it for a bit, and will do again this evening after work. I'll do this each day until I leave so I can keep these skills up.

I'm jealous that you can miss a few snacks and drop 10 lbs in a month, especially when you are about as big as one of my legs. Still congrats.

I've started cutting back on my snacks, one being cookies and desserts, which I've been really bad at. Hoping that that'll make a difference in the future.

Been a few since stopping by. As Dan referenced, been following on the face of book.

Ignoring us, huh? I see how it is.

Had a 3 day weekend and gonna have another one this coming weekend as I need to use up roll over vacation time from 2020 before end of March. My DD's school scrapped February break this year, not sure why, but they are opting for a 2 week break in March instead.

Hope something works out for you - stay positive

Thanks, something will work out. Gotta keep the faith.
