I think George was about 3 in this one.

That's awesome. I like George, even when he's angry.

Last day before vacation for me and I think we found a new vehicle, Honda CR-V. Should know a bit later today.

Have fun storming the Honda dealership! And the rest of New Brunswick.

Morning All, happy Friday!

Have a great one all.

Have a great vacation!

Glad you calmed down. She probably wasn't there when the conversation about one other person on Friday and then they'd know, so she said weeks to make sure
A) you were actually interested - gauging your response.
B) she set expectations. The Scotty factor works in business as well. If you think it will be weeks and you hear back in days, you'll be happy and more likely to accept. On the other hand, if you think you'll hear right away and don't hear anything for weeks, then you're going to be sad/frustrated/angry and possibly move on.

Same as a quote for repair
If someone tells you $5K and it's $6K, you're upset
If they tell you $7K and it comes out to $6K, happy camper
Paid the same amount, but how you feel walking away is different

I eventually calmed down, but it was that initial shock that got to me. I'm embarrassed to say I had that shock, but it shouldn't have surprised me, but it did. You're right, she wasn't there for the conversation regarding time frame, so she didn't know. I never knew there was a name to it, but it works.

O my God, that what I do too!

It's the best workout, right?

Yes. But,
I would up your weight of beer and reps. Then it's even better for you. I feel like you've put the training in, you're ready for it.

Yesss! The training's paid off. Now I can officially be a two fisted drinker. 🍻

Not an official name, per se

The Scotty factor came about from the original Star Trek...

Scotty would always tell Kirk it will take a long time. Kirk would say we don't have that much time and then, ultimately, Soctty would be the hero in much less time than he said.

The Scotty factor.

Not to be confused with @Captain_Oblivious son's "Scotty happened". :lmao:

He did always do that, so it makes sense to name it after him.

Morning gents.
Nothing to report.
I too first thought of "Scotty happened". Because he does.

Morning Gents!

So yesterday was a good day, not much to report there. Because of the whole Covid-19 thing, a friend of ours and her parents couldn't make their usual trip to Maine, so they came down to the Cape instead. So my DW, DD and I met them for dinner and had a great time. That was the first time I had been inside of a restaurant in months. So yesterday afternoon I had sent off a Follow-up/Thank you email to the two attorneys I had interviewed with. This morning I had received a response from Jess, one of the two attorneys. Her response was the typical, "It was great meeting with you," however, this sentence has me nervous, " I will touch base with Brian about the rest of the meeting and I am sure we will be in touch in the coming weeks. " WEEKS?! I CAN'T WAIT WEEKS, I HAVE ANOTHER OFFER ON THE TABLE! So I took a moment to breath and calm down. After I calmed down, I realized that she had to leave for a closing, and thus wasn't there for the conversation I had with Brian where I said that I already have an offer on the table, and need a time frame. I hope Brian doesn't forget this part of the conversation, he wasn't taking any notes, so... I know, relax. If they get back to me after I start at my current place of employment, then I'll make a decision and leave if I have to. Besides, they can't wait too long, the person I'd be replacing is leaving at the end of August and they would want me to shadow her...so they can't wait too long. So, I'm getting worked up over nothing. Well, gonna head off. Have a good day, gents, and we'll chat later.

TTFN

Okay... I'm just going to say it. Where do you actually want to work??? I'm quite sure it's not where you are now, otherwise you wouldn't be looking everywhere else. But it's the offer that's on the table. Wait to accept it as long as you want, or take it today. Then if the other job makes you an offer, Monday, next week, next month, and you want it, take it. Put in your two weeks at your current job and don't look back. It's a job. It's not your best friend or your spouse or your family.

DW has a CR-V and absolutely loves it. Enjoy the vacation!

Oh you're right, I don't want to work where I'm currently at, however, I am, already going through the process of on boarding just in case I don't get the other job. I'm not going to screw myself out of work just because I don't want to make this place a career. If this is where I wind up working, then great! I'll have a job that pays the bills and puts food on the table. If, however, I wind up getting the other job, then I'll turn in my notice here and leave. I'm covered either way. And I no longer have that problem of being loyal to this place. If a better job comes along, one I really want, I'll leave.

Made it to Friday and have the next 11 work days off. There was a 10 hour court hearing yesterday, and the Judge has ruled the Governor overstepped authority and is preparing a written order today. The Governor said that if any of his executive orders are overturned, it will be the wild west and people will die. That seems to be a bit of an overreach.

Take a look at this video Dreams Unlimited. The two guys talk about their recent (as in within a couple of days) experience in going to WDW since its opening. It should help out.

I've been watching some of the different videos and reviews. I think the slower pace promise has helped DW.

As for the job, are you signing a multiple year commitment contract on the warehouse job? Probably not. Accept it pending the offer from the other job. I know you think it makes you less honorable, but it's not like they were honorable with you.

I think it's very possible to travel and minimize the chances of infection. My real worry would be whether everyone else I encounter is going to do that. I can only control my own actions.

Absolutely.

Hope it works out to be great trip for you and the family. Remember to offer some half days to DW, maybe let the girls have some time in the park while and Mrs Norm enjoy a beverage by the pool or Abracadbar.

I plan to enjoy lots of beverages.

That is where my head went first.

No idea what you guys are talking about.

Well said, and good advice.

It's only new to us, actually working with a Nissan dealership.

Ah, I see. Apologies if you said that already.

Sore loser? Telling the truth? Who knows, but either way the court's going to make its decision.

I'd love to visit the World when it's slow. Imagine the short lines at all the rides? An unobstructed view of the castle for picture taking? Man, that would be awesome!

Nah, no contracts signed, just a regular gig that I can drop at any time. I have started the process of on boarding, filling out the application, a mere formality as the job is already mine, so in a way, yes, I have accepted it. By filling out the form, the HR department can start their process of bringing me on board. If the other place offers me something I can't refuse, then I'll just let my current employer know that I have accepted another offer and leave. At this point I've dropped the whole loyalty thing. I'm looking out for me....though I won't screw them. I'll give notice. I'm not a jerk, after all.
