DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I said that once I got the leak in my car fixed I'd probably sell it anyway.
Well, that's what I was doing this weekend.
Nice ride... couldn't trust it.
We'll see if this new one ends up being a bit less trouble.

5 relatively good dads form the Disney catalog...
Goofy
Father Robinson
Pongo
Marlin
Mufasa

Isn't that the things they rode on Hoth in the empire stikes back?
No, that was Princess Leia.
:lmao: Nicely done.

Hey, guys. Hope you had a great Father's Day. Mine was very low-key but did involve a prime rib dinner and key lime pie for dessert, so I have nothing to complain about.
Apparently key lime pie and the day set aside for "not remembering that other parent in the house" are somewhat intertwined. Didn't' hear form the young'en (which is good actually, 'cause it means he didn't need anything), but my Missus took me out for dinner (or I took her out, but we were spending her money, so...). Dinner was different - being a double-thick grilled pork crop and grits, but the pie showed up right after ward.

It never stood a chance...

Morning all. Just in a terrible mood for the Disney ordeal this morning. Here comes the rant.
That, right there...
That is a whole pile of, ummmm...
I think frustration would be the politest work I can find.

Almost hate to say this, but I waited unto after lunch, got in to MDE after a couple different tries and was able to put in park reservations for late September.

Ironically, we'll probably cancel the trip anyway.
But not just yet.

OK, afternoon gents. Hope all had a great Father's Day as I did with all kids home so not much better than that. Good food, a few beverages, laughs, music and family!

A bit late today but was spending a bit too much time on Disney Park Reservations this morning. Mine went kinda smooth considering, but has trying to help some crack the codes and get in. Started at 6:00 my time this morning and knew that was gonna be a train wreck. Got done around 7:30 so not that bad plus I got 18 different reservations covering all of August planned trip, all of March spring break and 4 of the 5 days of DDCC.

Everyone stay safe.

I've had enough. I'm cancelling the October trip.
Sorry to hear it didn’t go well for you.
I really can’t blame you for wanting to cancel.
Honestly, even if I could go to Disney right now (Canadian border still closed), I don’t think I would even consider it. I never thought I would say it, but I think it’s more trouble than it’s worth right now.

Morning, boys.
Up at 5:30am this morning because... I'm up. No reason. Sucks.
Ah well, there's always tomorrow.

In other news, went for a quick 2K yesterday and it was (for me) quick. Did my fastest 1K (5:39) to date. May not seem like much, but I'm pretty proud that I knocked another 10 seconds off my best time. Still haven't done a 5K, but think that's more a function of having the time to do it, rather than the ability. And considering where I was about 3 months ago... that's saying a lot.

I've had enough. I'm cancelling the October trip. DW and I will try an anniversary trip in September 2021 and our first Christmas trip with MVMCP in December 2021. Then, it might be time to sell DVC. The good news is that we are going to try Montana for Fall Break instead with a trip to Yellowstone National Park. We can switch the flights, still have to rent a car, and food costs will probably be cheaper out there. Surprisingly, everyone in my family wanted to go to Montana over Disney. I'm the last holdout. My FIL really wants to go to Yellowstone, so we may take him along as well.

Sorry it was such a pain. I would agree that it doesn't seem worth the trouble at the moment. Montana and Yellowstone sounds like a pretty good plan B to me.

Cool. Hope it's a keeper!

Any day that ends in key lime pie is a good day.

Paid it off with enough left over to supply a third of the down on the "new" used one. Five years newer, 1/10 the miles, and no sun-roof.

I can live live with that.

Not too shabby.

I wouldn't consider it, either. Especially with the virus now spiking in Florida.

Absolutely! Nice work.

That sucks for you...normal time I'm up....well earlier, but you get the idea.

Congratulations Celebrate GIF - Congratulations Celebrate ...

Afternoon brethren from a Sunny and 76f London. Had to move inside as I was doing the obligatory nonsense out in the garden, and all my laptop screens and phones started to overheat. Stoopid work.

Some of the graphics turned up for the arcade cabinet today, so we have Nintendo on the right, 80s retro movies on the left and a cheeky little homage to the Bears on the front. Still waiting for Perspex, as apparently protecting people from a vicious virus is "more important" than my vanity panel on an arcade I built coz I was bored. There's no reasoning with some people. Tch.

Noice. I am most partial to a cheeky slice of both Prime Rib and Key Lime Pie. On different plates, obvs. Unless we were in a pinch. Then I'd take both on one plate. But hold the gravy. Our gravy, not yours.

I think they could have staggered the access in a more manageable fashion. I saw no reason to open the booking up through 2021. They seem to be shooting themselves in the foot quite a few times on this stuff.
I've got to buy tickets for Jan 21 next week. Not looking forward to that in the slightest. And then I go in to try and replicate Mikey's park picks.

Well played my man. Enjoy the new wheels.
That sucks for you...normal time I'm up....well earlier, but you get the idea.
I'm up way earlier than all of you. Technically. Ahem. Apart from the Chief. He's like Dracula, or something.

Yeah, that's the stuff. 5:39 is not too shabby at all my friend. I'm going the other way, I'm slowing down to get used to the rhythm of a marathon pace, as I don't think I've got 9:00s for 26 miles in me anymore. And when I say I don't think, I know. You'll be waving at me as you fly by....

Losing the will to work today, I was pretty productive this morning and everyone I work with is on a conference call, so there may be an opportunity to loaf a bit.

Morning all. The trainwreck that is Disney now continues. Called DVC to book dining for July trip and cancel my October trip and the phone is busy. I guess they just took it off the hook and said no more. That's great customer service.

By the way, the best Disney dad is Darth Vader. Disagree and I'll force choke you.

Wow. That... just totally sucks. Sorry, man.

Thanks. It's done.

I'm with them...

Really? As CBO, I'm suprised.

That, right there...

But not just yet.

It wasn't bad once you got past the wait time. DW and I talked this AM just how much Disney has changed from our first few trips. We booked, made a few ADRs, and enjoyed the time. Now, everything is on a schedule. The worst part being that you must carry a smart phone (or stay in a line) for FP+. You just can't us a phone as a camera and enjoy the vacation. And, with Disney's plan to keep building resorts, adding more people, but never add more rides or parks, it just is going to keep filling up.

I had heard this was the new normal, but I didn't realize it until you said March 2021. Once pandemic ends, now you will have to use your phone to schedule park hopping? I guess this is Disney's new form or crowd control. I'm not liking it.

Sorry to hear it didn’t go well for you.

I guess if Disney was really concerned about health safety, then they wouldn't have signed nba and mls contracts, and just refunded all the dvc members points or money and said to come back next year. I read somewhere Disney wanted to change their parks to their cruise system, so they could keep track of guests' whereabouts and adjust staff accordingly. I guess this gave them that opportunity.

Sorry it was such a pain. I would agree that it doesn't seem worth the trouble at the moment. Montana and Yellowstone sounds like a pretty good plan B to me.

We are all booked. Found a nice cabin 15 minutes away from west gate entrance on vrbo.

I wouldn't consider it, either. Especially with the virus now spiking in Florida.

According to the media, they are spiking in Florida but not Minneapolis or Seattle. Hmmm......

By the way, the best Disney dad is Darth Vader. Disagree and I'll force choke you.
Don't try and frighten us with your sourcerous ways, Lord Airgoofy.
If we are doing companies that Disney bought, then Mrs Doubtfire is at the top of my list.

Hey! I did a SW quote! In context! I need a lie down.

Absolutely! Nice work.
Thanks! :)
That sucks for you...normal time I'm up....well earlier, but you get the idea.
What's normal for you? I'm averaging 4-6 hours sleep a night. Last night was a 5. Right smack in the middle.
Thanks boss. :)

Only in London can you say your equipment is overheating in 76 weather.
Still waiting for Perspex, as apparently protecting people from a vicious virus is "more important" than my vanity panel on an arcade I built coz I was bored.
Totally unacceptable!

Managed to keep the pace up a bit and did the 2K in under 13 minutes. (11:50)

Well, I don't got 9:00s either. Fastest mile was 9:25.
