DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Almost time to start those pesky Zoom calls again. I long for the day of conference calls where you could simply mute your mike and do something else. ;)
You still can...you just have to mute your video also. ;)

We use teams (which sucks for me since it doesn't play nice with Linux ---- BIG surprise...M$ doesn't play well with others. Shocker, I say). Hopefully, you can see the sarcasm dripping from that statement. If not, in my opinion, M$ has done more to ruin the computer industry than help it. They buy out competitors that have a superior product and then either kill it or change it so much, it isn't good any more. They create their own standards instead of using the standards already in place. Okay, okay...enough about that.

We use teams and I just start it with both the video and audio off. You can do that with zoom as well. We had a call one time in my previous job where they wanted everyone to be seen and in business dress (vs. shorts and a T-shirt). I told them something was wrong with my camera (yeah, something was wrong with it, it didn't work because I disconnected it) :lmao:

Top O the Mornin Dads! Saturday was absolutely perfect weather wise and then late yesterday afternoon strong storms / winds came through knocking out power and downing a lot of trees. We are all good but drive into the office saw a good amount of damage. Well, cancelled all the WDW stuff for our June trip and added on to our end of July / first week of August trip so we will see. Just waiting for DCL to cancel the June 21 sailing so we can just take a refund.

Top 3 WDW for today is................................. List top 3 resort pools

Have a good week gents and stay safe.
Happy Saturday morning.
The Good: We enjoyed another great night at the firepit. Time just flies by where you're out there.
The Bad: Our governor closed public tennis courts to June 21 because of outdoor COVID catching and those groups of 50 who play on a tennis court.
The Ugly: I hurt my knee in my sleep last night. ***?!
I'm right there with you on sitting outdoors and with a fire pit. Sorry about the knee. Did you double check to make sure the missus didn't have a bat or tire iron next to the bed?
It's been a couple of busy weeks for me, my wife lost a member of her work family and with her PTSD she struggled with it. I had an appoinment with my doctor yesterday to get results of a biopsy I had a couple of weeks ago. results where not what I wanted, the cancer has returned and I strat treatments on the 7th and will be once a week for six weeks.
Happy Saturday,,,, stay safe.
Sorry to hear Rob. Thoughts are with you and DW, all the best.

Cover the camera on your computer and mute the audio.

We just missed the Blue Angels/Thunderbirds flyover here. They went a few miles west of us. We could hear the jet engines, though.

I saw the Thunderbirds at an air show on Otis Air National Guard Base on Cape Cod several years ago, and it was a great show. Never got the chance to see the Blue Angels, though.

Back in 2012 for the bicentennial of the the War of 1812, the USS Constitution was getting ready to help celebrate that war by getting underway several times that year (as a side note, the USS Constitution gets underway only once a year). It was pretty cool, and I got to see it from my office that overlooked Boston Harbor. To see that old girl sailing under full sail was amazing.

Welcome to Monday - a rainy, dreary Monday.

Almost time to start those pesky Zoom calls again. I long for the day of conference calls where you could simply mute your mike and do something else. ;)

the problem with Zoom meetings is that its hard to get a word in sometimes. There's a bunch of us that get together for breakfast on Saturdays, been doing it for years, and we've been doing it via Zoom lately. Well, there's one guy in our group that just talks nonstop, and it's hard to get a word in.

Wow. No trees got dumped on your house, I hope?

Top 3 WDW for today is................................. List top 3 resort pools

1. Beach/Yacht Club - still haven't stayed there yet - but holy crap it looks awesome.

2. Polynesian Village Resort - it's the Poly - and there are dole whips within 50 yards of the pool

3. Bay Lake Tower - OK, it's not the largest pool....but the resort is smaller and so there is usually less people there using it. Plus there is a pool bar and beautiful views of Bay Lake. Plus, as a bonus, you can hear the train whistle from MK! And you can also jump over to the Contemporary and use their pool if you want.

Beach club. The sand is fabulous. The lazy river being deep is nice as well. The slide ain't half bad either.
Wilderness lodge. The "stream" leading into the pool is great and bay lake is right there.
Boardwalk. While not the greatest pool, my middle daughter hates clowns, so just for laugh factor.

Actually, I don't think we went to the pool at Bay lake tower, the one at AKL kidani was okay and the other ones we've been to were Saratoga springs and OKW. I think the one at OKW had a bridge going over, which was nice if it was really hot and wanted some shade. The ones at Vero Beach and Hilton Head are both small...I think the idea is you'll be in the ocean not the pool.

Have not been to Poly or AKL Jambo...looking at them online, they look nice.

Morning gents.
After a very painful day of hobbling around mixed with hot baths and lying down, my back is a bit better today than yesterday.
I hate back pain. I may be the only one who thinks that way, though.

:rolleyes1

Operations Inspiration. They are going across the country as a salute to those who have had to be on the front lines of the covid. They post their schedule the day before on their social media sites.
oh! I hadn't heard that. Well, there ya go. :)
Old Man "itis" hit this morning when my back decided to spasm. If I get the muscle relaxant in before those start I am good but once they cramp like this it is a trip to the clinic for some steroid pills. So the last sunny day for a week was wasted in bed.
Yeah, that was me yesterday. Except I just have to grin and bear it. Yesterday was not a fun day. Bit better today, though.
So, she basically made a trifle. Personally, I think the ice cream option @Zmack suggested is better.
Yes and... yes.
But when a kid takes initiative and tries to do something nice for you... you darned well take it and heap praise on 'em.
I got in about 3 hours overtime at work Saturday morning.
Cha-ching!
Later that afternoon, I pulled out my lawnmower and got it started and gave my lawn a once over. I also cleaned the front gardens and started the back, but didn't get it finished. Sunday I was up on the roof cleaning the gutters while the wife cleaned the back gardens and the DD played. Over all, it was a good weekend.
Pretty good day for getting stuff done!
Well now, that's just...wrong. :sad2::laughing:
Tragic
Any day that ends in Y calls for thick-cut bacon wrapped in butcher paper.
::yes::

Have you seen the video of the woman who forgets she's on and goes to the bathroom?
(Suitable for work)

I haven't been to many. So in order of those I've seen or been to...

Beach Club/Yacht Club - looks amazing
Wilderness Lodge - ditto
POR - relaxing

POR is the only one on that list I've actually been in.

Too funny. One of the things that drives me nuts (not a far drive) is people going to the bathroom and talking on the phone. Guess she decided to take it one step further.

You didn't go to OKW pool with Elle? Too bad...I like that pool also.

:thumbsup2 Disney vacation money! Or, if the wife gets a hold of it: Money to pay a bill. Pfft! Who needs to pay bills when there's Disney to go to, right? 😁

Pretty good day for getting stuff done!

Great day to get those done. Man was it nice.

:thumbsup2🤣

I use to work with an attorney who would go to the bathroom with the phone headset on his head and talking to clients. When he did that when I was in the bathroom, I'd make sure to either rip a big fart, or flush the toilet when he wasn't talking.

I wish I could cover the camera and mike but for many of these meetings I have to be involved. I can't just sit back and leave it to others. Luckily when meeting with government, they still go old school.

And another old one bites the dust. Maybe old age itis is transmitted over the internet like COVID. :lmao:

I rotate my picture upside down to hang on the ceiling until some notices and says something. Zoom meetings are about as productive as in person meetings.

BWV - Clown slide and quiet pools are great
BLT - Combibe that with CR
Tie for BC SAB & AKL pools

I'm right there with you on sitting outdoors and with a fire pit. Sorry about the knee. Did you double check to make sure the missus didn't have a bat or tire iron next to the bed?

No bat. No bruise. I found some.of my favorite cigars - Licenciados. I'm happy.

yeah, that's just so crass. Tell 'em you'll call back for crying out loud.
You didn't go to OKW pool with Elle? Too bad...I like that pool also.
We visited, but didn't go in. I'd probably rank it next.
Worst pools (again what I've seen) have to be the values (no slide? Really?) and POFQ. Sure it's nicely themed, but... that slide is awful.
Take your time and feel better.
Thanks. Managed to walk around the block without too much discomfort.

I do the same! It's pretty rare for someone to be on the phone in the washroom, but your darned right, I'll flush if someone's on the phone. Hope it embarrasses them enough to not do it again.

Ah! I really should've walked over when I stayed at Pop.

Glad you are making some improvement and heal up. I sympathize. Better living through pharmaceuticals is my motto in this situation. I was able to get up and put in a reasonable effort at work today. It is getting stiff now and am going to soak in some hot water and then the magic pills. I have co-worker whose daughter is a chiropractor/acupuncturist and she needles him once a month. He gave the same treatment to me last year when I was having some issues and I have to say it helped. Don't know how and it wasn't as good as meds, but I think if it was a routine monthly process it may be better than what I do now. Fortunately/unfortunately massage therapy is also now a legitimate use of our medical plan. Fortunately because I think it would be exactly what I need, unfortunately because there is only one MT within a two hour drive and she is booked out 8 months. I don't plan that far ahead. I get nervous even buying green bananas.

I did take a muscle relaxer last night. Maybe it helped? Really not sure.

Good!

Back pain sucks.

I've had acupuncture (for a shoulder issue.) Can't say that it did much for me.

Wow, that looks good!

Hey, gents! Not much to report today except that there's not much to report. 😆 Came home last night after work, grabbed a beer and put on Star Wars! May the 4th be with you...late. Today's Revenge of the Fifth.

Love the new technology and all, but sometimes old school is the way to go.

And another old one bites the dust. Maybe old age itis is transmitted over the internet like COVID. :lmao:

D@mmit! That's where my old age-itis is coming from! *pulls out can of disinfectant spray and sprays the computer*

Thanks. Managed to walk around the block without too much discomfort.

That's good. Keep it up.

Oh, it's fair game if you're going to be in the bathroom on the phone!

There's something to be said for Chinese medicine. They've been doing it for a thousand years, so they must be doing something right.

That looks good, but needs more pepperoni.

My son's birthday was yesterday. He's heard May the 4th be with you sooooo many times, he is immune to it.

Kinda like me with "What's up Doc?" It's kinda funny...some folks seem to think they're the ONLY person who ever thought of that.

Way more pepperoni than you see there. It was made in layers. The first layer was entirely (completely covered in) pepperoni. The ones on top were what was left after making that layer. It was half a package of pepperoni (my son's had the other half), about 2/3 lb ground beef, 1/2 pound sausage and 1/4 pound bacon. Trust me...it was DEFINITELY meat lovers.

Morning all. Another cool and cloudy one for us, seems like the nice day Sunday was just a a tease.

DW has to go to the school today, first day she's really gone in since she left for our cruise at the end of February. Today and tomorrow, parents or students are coming in to collect belongings from lockers. I'm wondering how much complaining she'll hear.

Have a good one all.
