DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I take it that the outcome wasn't as good as we all hoped?
I go back to the surgeon on the 24th for the follow up and hoping for the best. Avoiding spicy food is just a natural consequence of having a shortened digestive system.

Second. Whenever "errors" are made in scheduling, all Dads must make the logical decision and extend the trip.

Happy Friday Eve guys!

Good Morning Guys. Internet is up and working this morning. Thanks for the prayers for DS. Knee is getting better slowly. Sprain of the MCL is the most likely diagnosis. I think I'll become a doctor. We have gone from pinpointing the problem to "most likely". Sounds like the weather guys.

I kind of mixed up the August trip resulting in the need to add an extra night. Basically, I originally booked the resort from 8/20-8/26. Thought it was through the 27th. So I booked our flights, ADR's and all other plans based on the 27th. The choices were to rebook the return flight and adjust or add a day. I did what all responsible DisDads would do and added the extra day.:thumbsup2

DS registered for his sophomore year of HS last night. After his freshman year, he will be 9 credits short of what he need to be a junior. He has chosen to go in all honors classes again next year, except for english. It will be tough with sports and his other activities, but he is committed to doing well and getting into a good college (of course that's assuming he is not drafted for MLB out of high school:lmao::lmao:). If he completes all 9 classes, he'll be able to take it easy for his Junior and a Senior years and just take studies to offset the open times. So many of his friends are taking studies and 1 credit classes now, it will catch up with them later.

Prayers being sent.
Good to hear about DS and he is going about the school work the right way. Should remove the stress levels and make for a more fun Jr & Sr years focused as ACT scores and the college thing provide enough stress. Thanks for the prayers.
Morning Guys,

Middle school basketball has come to an end, lost 42-40 in the bronze medal game. The opponent hit the winning basket at the buzzer to send us to defeat. It was a fun game to be involved with and I don't think the boys were too upset. The good news is volleyball starts today! I am so glad that this is the last year of middle school for DS so I can go back to just being the parent watching instead of coaching.
Heart breaker right there. Enjoy being able to ask, or at least think, "WTH is the coach thinking" rather than being the target of such thoughts :lmao:
We have one prospect for the replacement of my co-worker and I'm not too happy with this choice as I know the guy. He's more concerned about his social life then working. I'm hoping he turns down the job as it's taken him 4 days and we still haven't heard anything one way or the other from him. But he's buddy's with the boss's son....so he's been given quite a bit of time to make his mind up. More time than should've been allowed. We need to get someone in now and start training them if they want to "be fine" while I'm on vacation!

Still stressed.

The good news is I received Mickey Email today stating my Magic Bands had been shipped!
Liking the good news part of this for you a lot more than the work stress. Hope it all works out for you and sooner rather than later.

I've been known to show up at a resort a day before the reservation was scheduled.

Why is it again that you don't drive?

I've been as far as just needing the final test, but there is an irrational fear involved with the overall experience :confused3My great weakness I'm afraid.

Good luch getting the job, even though it's a long shot. Maybe they'll give you more $$, or at least let you take home some of that beer as compensation for your hard work.

.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:free beer that's a good one, don't you realize this is a government operation??

Good call on the extension. My problem is I keep adding more and more on until it's out of control.

Brent, Prayers that you get one of the new positions and hope it's the ones that pay the most $$, have the least amount of work and are closer to home to make it easier. Am I asking too much?

The job pays more, that was one of the major factors in trying. Definitely not closer to home, none of the stores save one is easy to get to (I worked in the one before back when it was a busier place)

There is a lot of drawbacks though, the stores are smaller natch, some in less then desirable locations. I've always worked in, and thrived in, busier, bigger stores, which these are not. I'm taking this more of a wait and see situation, where I stand seniority wise etc. I can turn down the offer and not be penalized for it.
Now if by some act of miracle and I was offered the A store, I take it no questions asked. But I only have 14 years full time, it's going likely take 30+ to get it though.

Won't shed tears if I don't get it, I've got quite a lot of pull and responsibility where I am, even if no extra money, only took me 2 years to get to this stage here, through my natural hard work and brilliance.

It is a good day, other than being Friday. Today is our 120 day mark for our cruise and excursions / special bookings all done - Palo with the kids for first time as they will both be 18, Snuba in Grand Cayman (combination of snorkle & scuba) and a cabana at Castaway Cay. Also last day of work / school before we head to the original in Anaheim Sunday. Will do my best to post some pics here throughout the week.

Prayers to those that need 'em, bacon, dole whips, safe travels and healthy safe families to everyone!

Hey guys. Just stopping in to say hey. I am still alive but haven't been able to check in like I used to.
Hope all is well. Maybe I can start checking in more often.

Okay, it's all done but the packing and driving. Annual passes renewed and fast pass plus and resturant reservations made. I still bet we'll have a bit of snow in the front yard when we leave on the 9th of May.

Been a terrible week. This Friday earned the 13th.

Congrats on the promotion? Glad to hear the knee is better.

. Almost 5'8" now so we'll see how mach more she grows.

If you put a book on her head, does she stop growing?

There is usually a problem with transporting beer across the border. Brent can send it to me and I will hold it for you.

That's just because you're not trying hard enough. Just pretend that you are the Bandit and put the pedal to the metal.

The good news is I received Mickey Email today stating my Magic Bands had been shipped!

That is good news.

Yeah, that's right. Norm has it stocked up. :rolleyes1 I'm sure he's only eating and drinking it to keep it from expiring.

Well, I can't let it go bad. I'm a true environmentalist. :lmao:

Keep us posted.

:rotfl2:free beer that's a good one, don't you realize this is a government operation??
.

That's what the U.S. government specializes in down here - giving away taxpayer money as fast as possible.

That sounds wonderful. Any extra room for me?

Good to see you here. Watch out, Randall may give you your old member number back. :crazy2:

Morning Men.

The first volleyball tournament has been played and won by DS and his middle school team mates. We only dropped one set all day, pretty happy since I just ran the try-outs on Thursday and Friday. Hopefully a sign of good things to come.

Last night DW and I got a night out at a St Paddy's themed fund raising dance. It was great to get out even if I was the DD and got to watch a lot of "interesting" people. Today we are under a blizzard warning but so far it is just a lot of wind and no snow. It should make for a quiet day of watching some basketball, my alma mater try to win the Canadian university hockey championship tonight and the Walking Dead to finish it all off. Interesting fact, they have won the championship every odd number year since 2007.

Have a good one all.

Feel free to tap into some of the dues if needed. Hope the 2nd half of March goes better.

Thanks. I've picked up the sniffles as well. Ears and nose aren't happy.

Seems like your DS is training year round. I'm ready for the swim session to be over - driving mine to practices 5 times a week is too much effort for me.

There hasn't been a lot of down time. A bit in the fall but that has been about it. The good thing is that there are a number of different sports so he continues to develop different skill sets and avoids the single sport specialization at too young an age.
