DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Welcome back, what took you so long?
Well, life got weird. I had a job scare back in 2015 when some punk said I spent all my time at work playing on the internet. That was only a tiny bit true and my boss had my back, but it scared me off the boards. It didn't matter though. On 10/28/15 I was called in to HR and told that my position was eliminated. Didn't feel like playing on the disboards as depression took over, but at least they gave me six months severance. Didn't go back to work for about ten months, and for some reason during the unemployment we decided to host another orphan- this time from China. We had him at our house for a month and decided to move forward with adoption. We brought him home in July 2017. Since then, life's been a busy blur. But it's good. I generally keep my head down and plow through my work and don't have time to DIS. But I just got back from a cruise on the Fantasy and need to plan a fall 2019 trip. I realized that I'm rusty and there's a lot going on at WDW that I don't know about so I figured I'd dive back in.

Hello gents. Well, I am back. I am not eating anything Mickey shaped nor a Dole Whip. I am not riding any sort of magical transportation. I am not entering a world of fantasy, adventure or tomorrow. I am back sitting at my desk slowing trolling through two weeks of unread emails. I am not impressed.

Spent yesterday at home unpacking and readjusting. I had Disney blues so spent the morning drinking tea from my new Wonderland mug and watching Happily Ever After on YouTube.

Nothing significant to report so I guess have a good day and if your day sucks, just glance at your Tiki Room socks and smile
I saw those socks but ended up getting ones with monorails and Mickey ear hats on them. They are still inside the partly unpacked bags so I should wear them tomorrow to put a smile on my face.

The lime ice cream cone. I'm a big key lime pie fan and that (or the float) are still possible.
I didn’t get the Maleficent ice cream (on account of my previously mentioned 2 hour character meet) but I did get the Peter Pan float earlier in the trip made with the same ice cream. I liked it but the lime is a bit tart, having the float the Sprite sweetens it. You would probably enjoy it.

Sounds like you’ve already decided to scrap Narcossees, but that’s what I would do. Party time and snacking is too valuable to fill up right before.

What are your favorite things about MNSSHP and why?
I’ll echo the fireworks and parade. Character meets are off my list after my experience last week. If DW and DDs wanted to meet, I would be tempted to go off on my own. I’d feel bad doing that, but there’s much more that interests me.
I like the short waits for rides and the general atmosphere.
Having said that, I’ve now done three and probably would not do another. It’s fun, but getting more crowded and I think the price is gone beyond what I get from it at this point. Worth doing at least once though.

There have only been a handful of us here on a regular basis and there is no need to race to the end anymore. Now the posts are truly deep and thought provoking.

Like a well and why is the sky blue?

Like the ocean and why does Mickey get so much of our money?

Like my head (oh wait you said deep, not empty) and what's the 500th digit of pi?

Hmmm, why does pie taste so good? Especially if it's pecan, cherry or key lime?

Why do they call them key limes? There's no keys in there.

Where did I leave my keys?

Wait! What?

Good Day Dads! Today's total for Andriana is $3127.61. I heard from her today and she says that she will be moving to Hawaii in two weeks. So I will be shutting this down this Friday and going to the bank on Saturday to pull the money together to send to her. Thank you all for giving! If anyone still want to donate, please PM me.

Please let her know that not only do we support her financially, but our thoughts (and more importantly) our prayers are with her as well.

Ok, I give up. What's going on? Don't make me read the last 1000 posts, just someone tell me what Andriana is up to.

CJ passed away a few weeks ago. We are raising money to help her since now both of her parents have died. She got a great job offer in Hawaii and CJ was so proud and looking forward to being able to go visit her in the future, but that's all changed.

Happy Wednesday. So, I know this will shock you, but my humor or lack thereof also rolls into my house with my girls. The first boyfriend's name was McGarrett, so I called him 5.0 in honor of the Hawaii 5.0 tv show. My oldest dd just rolled her eyes like she always does. Well, her new boyfriend's name is Austin. So, you guessed it, I'm calling him Stone Cold. And, I'll pull up Youtube and play his wrestling entrance song when she walks into a room. :scared1::lmao:

We have been hitting china the last couple trips, service is good, food not over the top and for Disney standards, don't break the bank. We rotate a lot in and out. Chef de France is another one...... wife likes the salad and soup.
We haven't ate dinner at garden grill in years so we figured we give it a whirl again.
Mexico, Marocco and a few others we don't eat at.
We have fun just eating at different places.

DW likes Chef de France and we both liked Nine Dragons in China - good food and decent price. At Epcot, we just like to walk around the world showcase, snacking and drinking. We usually try new places, and keep to some old favorites as well.

Wow. Looks like my password still works! I've been gone for three or four years. Sooooo... What did I miss?

 Chris.

Yeah, why's there a 1000+ page thread and why have you guys only done 1000 pages since 2014? We used to go through 250 pages in a couple weeks.

The boards were re-formatted and stats can no longer be counted. Plus, everyone left us to go to the Facebook page. Some of us stayed though.

That was a lot that happened since 2015. Glad to hear about your update and hope to talk to you more.

That's awful. I never met him, but he was one of my favorite guys on the boards to interact with.

Glad you're back with us, sorry you're back from the happy place. Looked and sounds like you had a blast though. Thanks for the tips on MNSSHP and enjoy those socks tomorrow, I'm tellin ya it works.
She doesn't know it's your 35th anniversary, blocked out some years has she? ;)
Great, well at least your's and mine minds think alike
Please let her know that not only do we support her financially, but our thoughts (and more importantly) our prayers are with her as well.
Seconded!

I checked out the same thing, club level at the Grand Floridian for DW & I for our 20th anniversary and dinner at Victoria & Albert's. :scared1: I'll go with DVC points as I can't afford that.
I have zero clue how to go about renting DVC points, etc.
Of course if you already have points... I presume that makes it a little easier!
