Happy New Years Eve men :cool1:

Please be careful out there tonight for those of you traveling to parties :thumbsup2

‘Morning all…
One more work day and then…
I can get up early tomorrow and still have to work anyway. Oh well.

Make sure to stock up on bread, eggs and milk. That is what they do here. Must be planning on French Toast in case the power goes out :confused3

Replace the eggs and milk with beer and batteries and you’ll have the Three-Bs that folks stock up on round here when the weather turns inclement. We are Red Necks, denying it would be pointless.

I've only stocked up on scotch so far. I'll get to the others if there's time... ;)

To heck with the other stuff, go get more scotch.

See you are smart… now the wife doesn't send you grocery shopping because you'll send 5x as much as she would. So you get to sit home and drink your scotch. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

As Mr Cosby put it when describing Dads:
“We are dumb, but we are not so dumb. It takes great thinking and work to keep from working. "

And a Happy New Year’s Eve to you sir.
No traveling planned. The only potential train wrecks that I’ll encounter this evening will be of my own making.

Mat I be unsuccessful in the attempt.

Left Maine this morning, we got about 8 inches last night up there. Nothing back home, yet. Sounds like a big storm coming in a few days. :faint:

That's about what this last storm brought here as well. Now it's just getting cold again.

I do 75% of the grocery shopping. So yea I do know the prices. Don't judge me! :lmao:

Good morning!

Tim, I do all of the grocery shopping for us as well. One, I'm way faster at it then DW - I can leave and be back within an hour. Second, I stick to the list 99% of the time. I like knowing where the money is going. I think we wasted a crap load buying stupid stuff at the store.

I HATE grocery shopping, but whenever we just need a few things from the store, I always offer to go instead of DW. Basically for the reasons you mentioned. It will take me 5 or 10 minutes in the store to grab what we need. If she went I wouldn't see her for about 3 hours. :rolleyes1

Secondly... money wasting... She buys lettuce to make salads for lunch. And then she'll use some of it and throw the rest away. I mean if it isn't absolutely fresh, crunchy and perfect she refuses to eat the stuff. She has thrown away more packages of unopened lettuce that has absolutely nothing wrong with it than you'd believe. I kind of got on her about it one day when I looked in the trash can and saw 3 unopened bags of it. Her response, "they're only $1 per package." She didn't think it was funny when I pulled a $5 bill out of my wallet and dropped it in the trash to make my point. :rolleyes1 I haven't seen any of it in the trash since then though. :thumbsup2

And no, I didn't leave it there. That's why you should wash your hands after handling money.

We don't get Tricare, but that retirement check and health insurance are the main reasons I'm sticking around as well. My house should be paid off in 6 years, right in time to pay college tuition.

Don't get me wrong I would have no issue with the retirement check. The main thing I care about is getting to keep Tricare. I still need to start saving for the little man's college fund. I am already 8 Months behind the curve. :rotfl:

Thank you I plan on just hanging out with the wife and little one. The odds of us making to midnight here in centeral time zone are slim but I bet we make it to midnight for eastern time. :rotfl2:

I could only wish. Back when I did the grocery shopping, I stuck to the list and budget. However, DW would just go to the grocery store to buy everything I didn't buy on the list. I tried to explain budget, but it didn't work. Now, she does 100% of the shopping as I just gave up.

My choice would be bourbon but I think you are ready for whatever nature throws at you..

And a good choice that is.

You could have just mailed that $5 to me.

So what does that equate for a pint? I feel they are price gouging up here. Asking $4.99-$5.99 a pint. I refuse to pay that much for crappy quality. I want to make my homemade Tonga toast and I need strawberries for the compote!

Yes, because Disney food prices are never inflated. :crazy2: :lmao:

Day 12 New Year's Eve Ownage.

Well, after a brief nerf gun saga yesterday, oldest dd used her sewing machine that she rceived for Christmas to make some pillows. She also baked a cake from dry ingredients. I told her the next time, she needed to get the eggs from the chicken house, grind up her own flour, shuck her own sugar cane, and who the heck knows where baking powder comes from. Still, we had fun and the cake tasted good. DW made dentist appointments for the dds today. I guess it is better today than tomorrow when they are hungover. :lmao:

A quart in the perfect world is 1.5 pounds but it will vary depending on the strawberry variety and who is filling the quart. If they sell by the pint that would work out to about $3.11 but that is wholesale prices from the terminal. Figure in shipping and retail mark up and ...that is why we don't buy strawberries this time of year.

I'll be run out of KY for admitting this but I've never tried bourbon.

Same to you.

I'm planning on working tomorrow as well. Time to put another layer of winter protection fabric on the strawberries before the rain/snow/sleet mix hits

Must be that extra X-chromosome. SWMBO does the same

Not even going to try for midnight. New Years has to be one of my least favorite holidays...cold, late, and dark.

Good morning gents. Everyone have a safe New Years Eve guys.

+1

... I just gave up. ...
the sooner you do that after you say I do and accept your lot in life the better off you are.

You know... when you put it that way... :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I enjoy New Years. We get together with DW's sister's family and some friends each year. We always rotate who hosts it between our house and DW's sister's house. When it is at our house are a lot more fun. What really sucks is not drinking and then having to drive home at 1 or 2 in the morning on New Year's Day. Guess where it is this year... :headache:

From back then? They'd be Daggeurrotypes. Or oil paintings. :artist:

I have much the same relationship with bourbon. Though I'm told I need to try it again, ignoring the cheap stuff and focusing on the higher quality options.

Wishing everyone a safe and festive New Year's Eve. We are staying at home and having a some friends over.

Need to get back to the cleaning, right after I enter that contest.

:thumbsup2
