In the interest of keeping my cub scout den busy and active during our meetings I've been playing around with a bunch of science experiments. I'm not a real fan of craft stuff that everyone seems to assume I'm doing, so I wanted to break into something else for the boys.

After a number of things with limited success on the boys' side (my demonstrations always worked just fine). I finally found one that was rather foolproof and all the kids seemed to love it!

Figured I'd share these with you dads in case anyone wanted to do something kinda fun with a bit of a holiday theme. So... here's my DS8's Magic Crystal Tree.

(sorry I forgot to take picture of the start)

12 hours after starting.

Now a week later the crystals are just starting to break off. Still think it'll look good for another week, plus I have all the supplies if he wants to make another real quick. Next time I think I'll make sure it can reach the top though...

Instructions Man!

Sorry, meant to get back sooner to add the instructions... but got caught up at work actually being productive.

Final plans I ended up using were basically from this site.

You can actually cut down (or omit) the ammonia as it is only there to speed up evaporation. I think my mix was a bit heavy on it, as it never had a chance to make the top of the trees.

Anyways, the kids all seem to think it's the neatest thing ever... so I'm pleased.

Good morning all. I see Mr. Romo looked at his calendar and decided to hit the suck button. The NFC North is turning into quite an entertaining division this year :thumbsup2

Can't blame that one on Romo, 28 points should be good enough to win a game; unless you have a defense that couldn't stop a high school team.

I'm kinda excited right now:confused3
I may finally get some answers I need to master this whole magic band stuff, this month I have 1 Commando club member there now.

2 families we hang out with regularly, one leaving WDW tomorrow (gave no info to didn't know they were going), 1 family just got there today, gave info to, will be there for 10 days, will call or text if they need any info.

1 couple no kids with a few friends, gave some info to

What I want to see is what the outcome of each trip is, want to find out everything I can about these Magicbands, so far I'm not impressed:rolleyes1

Morning all. Back to 10 hour days this week. It is hurting my Dis time.

Over 400 yards twice this year? I guess Rob Ryan wasn't completely responsible last year.

Tuesday Morning Ownage for Team Sparrow!

Well, at least you found it. The mutton was a little different (Served last night for dinner). So in order of favorite in the house was Beef, Pork, Mutton. Thanks again..

I like pork the best, but mutton is different. You can cross it off your bucket list.

Wow, old thread closed and 8 pages in already? :thumbsup2

Extra chatty at the beginning and the end.

Meeting Brian for dinner tonight in Coral Gables. Looking forward to it. Might be the last solid food for a couple of days. Yep, round 2 of the dentist tomorrow. Is it wrong when I am talking to the receptionist on the phone while she is looking at what I am getting done and she goes, "Oooh, Owww, Really?"
?

Prayers it goes well.

Being in the single digits with the kids still clueless is also pretty interesting!

It didn't work as well for us as we planned.

Sounds like fun. I recommend a liquid diet of beer and more beer.

Alcohol and percocet go great together, right Randall?

Nothing to say just getting subscribed to the new thread

Welcome to round 31.

So what you are saying is that the dallas defence is as good as ours and we may then have a shot on Sunday for a win

Morning.. Randall, I love the opening pic. Good choice!

Dad update, specialist was a no-show. Hopefully today I guess. He got a tv, so he's calmed down a bit. Food quote involved a rice & bean salad he was given, he asked for a knife for it. Orderly asked why he would need a knife for it? Dad:" If it starts to move I want to stab it"

G'mornin gents.

Had a late night at the office. I was asked a couple of weeks ago to move to another cube and with a hectic schedule and traveling last week, I have not had the time during the day to get it done. Got all of my Disney stuff setup so that it will still feel like home. I'm hoping that the new neighborhood that I'm in will work out well (It's only about 100 feet from my old cube).

Second funeral to attend in the past month tonight. Last time, it was a close coworker's mother that was killed in a car crash. Tonight it is another close coworker who's wife died very suddenly on Saturday. This one has really bothered me because they had plans of retiring early next year and doing some traveling together. Hard to know what to say to comfort a friend whose life has been turned completely around.

Morning.. Randall, I love the opening pic. Good choice!

Me too! :thumbsup2

Morning Guys!

Do you know what day it is?................ Never mind that was the last thread.

I'm sure I've built up the surprise factor in my mind beyond what it will actually deliver. There's something to be said for having the kids in on it all along. They can help plan and be excited with us for months leading up to the trip. That's how I'll do the next one.

Good morning Dads. Hoping to spread a little joy this morning - IASW DL done up for Christmas.

We are thinking about Disney for Christmas / New Years next year and since we have done WDW for this are thinking about DL. For those that have not been to DL, a huge the benefit is just walking to the parks to and from hotel. None of the crowds and time consumption of waiting associated with WDW transportation.

::yes:: :bitelip: :faint:

Brent, your Dad cracks me up! :lmao:

And Thank You!

I wanted to Thank and give credit for the theme of this thread.

The title came from something said by Adam (SouthernTaz) and the Picture was found and posted by Brent (BigTikiDaddy).

Thank you guys! :worship:

Ok so I finally made it back to the boards... boy did I miss a lot. I am back to work from vacation. Well physically at least I’m working on the whole mentally thing. I already miss the World. I did however realize how different it is to tour with an 8 month old and man did we get a lot of comments about him. You might be able to guess why but maybe not.

and here is a picture of the 3 of us from the trip.

I now have 57 and my cork board is getting pretty full I actually got to trade with “scoop” that was cool.

Latest update...they are not sure the issues yet so will keep him there overnight. He's apparently in the student care ward, so lots of young ones buzzing about, but are very attentive. Dad has a young traniee nurse assigned to him, much to his delight. They will bring in a lung specialist to see if he can get to the bottom of it.
I will keep y’all in my thoughts and prayers.
Some decorating was done this evening.

Well done. We have not decorated yet because we just got back and have not had the motivation yet. Most likely it will happen this weekend. We have a lot of shopping to do as well.
A week from right now I will be somewhere around Frontierland and Liberty Square- about an hour from my first dole whip of the day. Just wanted everyone to know.
That sounds like fun hope you enjoy it. I would give anything to have been able to not leave the world.

I just got back from Pop and I only had the Magic Bands no KTTW card if you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer them. Our experience was actually a pretty decent one though. The most trouble was when someone accidently charged us for a snack we didn’t get and I had to get our snack credit back. Other than that pretty decent experience.

That is a real bummer. I hope it goes as well as possible.
