Been away a few days. I see that most are well. Those of you fighting that nasty bug need to heal up, ya’ hear.

The snow came and went down here. Well, the ice came and went more rather. It was worse a bit south and a bit east so there was more accumulation in spots like Atlanta and Myrtle Beach then here. Interesting quirk of the upper wind flows there. Good thing this stuff doesn’t happen very often round here; we don’t have the infrastructure to deal with it. The schools missed their first day this term, but they’ll cancel one of the remaining teacher-work-days to make up for it so no extensions as of yet.

Yes just got it this am. Have been trying for BWV and an opening came up for BLT so I snagged it !!! still have BWV wait listed but may cancel that one. Wife is now a happy camper. Ans as it goes a happy wife is a happy life.

MIL is out of ICU and in a regular room. Now that she is doing better, we are getting more details. She had an infection and didn't realize it. They are guessing for over a month. She actually went into Septic Shock and was lucky (I mean they said 10% chance) she recovered. Uncle s still having fluid removed, but is doing better and should be Heading home in a few more days. Looks like everyone is getting better. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.

MRI was done this morning on the knee. Follow up next Thursday. Watch out CJ! With clearance both DD and I will start training for the 5K at a minimum. I think we are game to try to do both the 5 and 10K. As far as the 1/2 and full. The only way I am doing either is on something with wheels.

Pretty sure the $$ from my paycheck is always spoken for by the time it is actually deposited. Good news is I get a pretty good bump in salary in February. We had an employee that negotiated a raise. I told the owners the only way that was happening is if I got the same plus my normal raise at review time. No argument, just said fine. It's good to be the king.

No raise here, but I haven't done any work today. Numerous games of solitaire and Sudoku. I tell my dds everyday to follow their dreams and work somewhere or in something they like to do. The formula is there on how to invest for retirement. There's no point in wasting 30 years of your life sitting in an office, bored silly, waiting to retire.

It's when someone finally figures out you are the 20% in the old equation of "20% of people do 80% of the work". Then they try to give more $$ to one of the 80% doing 20% of the work. Then you let them know they should start looking for a new corporate officer. At that point you explain you are part of Team Sparrow and then they pay you as the mercenary you are.

I hope that clears it up.

I hope your at least winning at solitaire. Pretty sure I would have leaped from my window to my death if I didn't have 6 weeks of work to finish every 2 weeks. My type A personality combined with slight OCD makes it hard to just stop and relax.

I will be giving it my best shot in a couple weeks. Cross your fingers that when I stop and relax my heart doesn't give out.

Partly I’d say….
If I got this straight, the “raise” thing is a positive adjustment in compensation. The last one of those I saw was in in 2007. Negative adjustments… I’ve since seen a number of those in different shapes and forms.


The idea of it being offered to those that do most of the work does not compute though. Down here, accomplishing tasks assigned on budget and ahead of schedule only results in more tasks being assigned and time frames being shortened. So the 80/20 bit of it don’t come into play. I do get the frustration related to slackers though. That’s universal. The only upside is that here they get the same nothing; a pyrrhic victory at best.

Nope. The difference is that I work for a state university and a female director. Why do you think my work is done on Wednesday and everyone else needs to go to Friday?

% of female workers with home based office = 33%
# of male workers with home based office = 0

Yes, that is not a typo. 0 # of men and 33% women. The monetary value, ie tax benefit, is tangible. I could file a gender discrimination with HR, but that will just get me fired. So, if you can't explain that 33% in your 80/20 story, then I know where you can file it.
