Tim?

Productive Disney related afternoon. Got an email from Disney allowing me to get our My Magic Bands. Customized and they are now on order. Also changed the dates for the October trip to 10/8 - 10/15. All ADRs are booked for the January trip.

Beginning to like the My Disney Experience site. Everything is there at one place and I can do pretty much anything I want right there. I do have to make DVC reservations on the DVC site but it is simple enough to link them on MDE. We are not hitting the parks this upcoming trip so I have not had to link tickets and make Fastpass+ choices. My opinion may change when I try to do that for the June trip. But, so far, so good.

Alright guys, I know someone out there has the answer to this!

I have an ELECTRICAL PROBLEM...

My kitchen lights, basement lights, and the light / fan over my stove stopped working.

I know the simple answer is check the fuse panel. I have checked that. I reset EVERY breaker on the board. Still does not work.

I called a couple electricians, none of them do after hours calls unless it is an emergency. But one of them had me test a couple things, and suspects it is a "LOST NEUTRAL".

Anyone know what that is? How to troubleshoot it? anything that can help???

Carl, you deal with this kinda stuff, don't ya????

ANYONE????

A dusting of snow in Appalachia today. Only melted where the sun hit it. Talked with my parents and the snow belt off Lake Erie had 5 inches in places so it could be worse. CJ's trailer park/marina is looking better all the time.

Evening folks...Store looks all done up for Christmas now, and it's damn cold out.. No snow yet.

How to be entertained in Texas.

1. Wait for a hard freeze to be announced.
2. Go to the grocery store watch half the town show up to by water, fireplace logs, and faucet covers.
3. Go to work the next day (when it is still 50 degrees outside and the cold front remains several hours away) and observe the winter clothing that would rival the gear worn by Han Solo when he has stuffing Luke into a tauntaun.

I love Texas death, but we sure can be a funny folk when the temps start to dip.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I just stopped wearing shorts last week!

I swear yesterday I had a guy in the store yesterday wearing shorts and grumbling about the cold.:sad2: Should have known, an Old Milwaukee Ice drinker.:rotfl2:

For the record.

I live in Canada and there is no snow here.

;)

None here either yet..Lake Ontario keeps deflecting it I think.

This may sound dumb but check every GFI you have and reset them.

Just curious. Is it only the lights that are dead? How about outlets, the A/C, etc. If the whole house is dead your main could be tripped. It is a separate breaker on the outside of the house where your power comes into the house. If it is the problem you have a direct short somewhere so as soon as you reset it it will trip again.
If you only have lights out then there are several possibilities. The simplest fix is a bad breaker, it may show that its on but there is no juice getting thru. Could also be a loose contactor in the panel
you would have to open it up to check for that, exposes you the full 120v so proceed with caution. That is as far as I go before I call in an electrician.
Let us know if its whole house or just lights and I will try to think of something else it may be.

It's hard to say without it in front of me, but to fix it you will need a cut off wheel, hammer, chocolate bar and 3 toothpicks:rotfl2:

It sounds like a bad breaker or a loose connection at the breaker:confused3

Me either... ;)

I was gonna try that... but Seth ate the chocolate.

I think it's time for the electrician.

Me either... ;)

That's actually good news. That means it is just a problem in one circuit. Could still be a short but most likely a bad or loose breaker. If they are labeled correctly you should be able to find the bad one and swap it out with a new one. 2 screws on most types of panels if your are comfortable doing electrical work. You will need a good multi-meter to track down the bad one if they are not labeled.

I had a productive Disney day, too. Got to customize the Magic Bands for our trip in March. As I suspected, I was more excited than anyone else in the house. We get two sets with our split stay at POR and POLY. Really looking forward to our first stay at POLY. We usually do POP or POR.

You don't want my advice on this. I almost killed myself installing our dishwasher when I turned off the wrong breaker and the white wire hit the black wire about eight inches in front of my face. Good luck.

BTW- thanks to all for the "Welcome"!

So you fix things like Tim Taylor?

Sounds.......interesting

:faint:

I can do a few things but when it is time to open the box I call an electrician. I keep trying to convince DD or DS to be an electrician and the other to be a plumber but it isn't working.

Perhaps the IASW song will keep to zombies out the way. Climb up to Pinnochios for some food.

Maybe you can distract them by throwing the dolls at them.

That will work. I think you are going to love the Poly although POR is nothing to sneeze at.

Even I am not dumb enough to think I can fool around with electricity. Rope in a relative whose branch can be easily cut off from the family tree or call for professional help.

Tim.

I like this time of year. I know it's your slow time at work, but you are on the boards more, and for me, that's nice.

You are up early today Randall. Or are you just getting in from a night of partying? if you have the time, you can add a trip to the list I will be at BWV Oct. 8 - Oct. 15.

Cough "suck up" cough :rotfl2:

Morning guys

Morning Duck. Should I be the first person to ask What Day Is It? Nah, I'll let someone else do it.

I was hoping one of mine would be a dr and give me free healthcare. But, with the effort mine put into their school work, that isn't likely.

.

Looks like we might have an overlap day, if school schedule holds.

....

You had a guy from KY in your store? :lmao:

Sounds like the way I fix stuff at home. You forgot the most important tool - duct tape.

Not a big fan of the split stay, but Poly sounds great. One day, we'll get there when dvc arrives.

‘Morning all…
Someone left the refrigerator door open last night. I actually had to warm up DW’s car this morning for the first time in years. Of course, no longer having a garage may have played a small part in that necessity. Those flour vandals showed up down here too. They didn’t do a very good job as vandals go, but they did spread some of that stuff on the bridges and shady spots.

Alright guys, I know someone out there has the answer to this!
I have an ELECTRICAL PROBLEM...

Agree that it’s likely a short somewhere (that “Lost Neutral” you mentioned) or a bad breaker.
Without a good multi meter (and maybe a bit of prior experience) I’d be hiring that repair out.

Missed where you signed on…
:welcome:

Nice "Clark Griswald" story there. Feel free to share more of ‘em.
I guarantee, everyone here has taken similar (if not worse) actions. :lmao:

Keep trying. That stuff still can’t be out sourced.
(they can keep driving the base salary down – true – but it can’t be outsourced).

Should I be the first person to ask What Day Is It? Nah, I'll let someone else do it.

Why… it’s "National Indian Pudding Day", of course. :rotfl2:

Morning guys

:cool1: Our early risers or late getting in.

Not my birthday yet, though today is as good as any since the sun is out, I've eaten and it is close enough.

::yes::

Cornmeal, milk, maple syrup, raisins, cinnamon, butter, eggs....

Sounds good. When will it be ready? :drive:
