The funny thing is - Crash appears to be in an unzipped light fleece jacket. Yet I have a feeling the guy holding the camera was in long underwear, snow pants, ski gloves, 3 sweatshirts, 2 jackets, a stocking cap and scarf. And somehow he stopped shivv-ve-ve-ve-ve-ering long enough to hold the camera steady for a picture.:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Sounds awesome... enjoy Aulani...

However can I make a suggestion for your Canada trip (Canadian's back me up here)....

I would flip flop your itinerary and do a TORONTO trip, with a short detour to Niagara Falls. Price wise there would be little difference (from food and lodging perspective)

There is SO much to do in Toronto, you could easily fill a week or two (I recommend as a start check out citypass.com for the Toronto City Pass).

Niagara Falls however, you can see thew majority in 2 days (depending on what you want to see).

If you have any questions, or want some suggestions just ask, or text, e-mail, or call me... (PM me if you want my number).

Thanks Brian! From the little bit of research I did, I think I would agree with you. I have been to Niagara Falls before and I remember the Falls being beautiful but the town itself being...well...mostly a tourist trap. We had the idea to go because the kids wanted to see it and I was looking for somewhere within a day's drive. The more I looked into Toronto, the more interesting it looked (and I definitely want to see the Hockey Hall of Fame someday).

Then the Aulani reservation came through. Even with us renting DVC points, it's a lot more expensive than the other accommodations I was looking at. So I went to my kids to ask if they wanted to do the Canada weekend trip or use the money to stay at Aulani, and--

"Aulani!"

So you can see where their priorities are. :rotfl2:

If we don't make it up there this spring, we will do it eventually though. I'll definitely be in touch.

Hope your cruise was great!

Freeking cold. Temp is 28 with a feels like 15. Why do people live up here?

Cry baby.:rotfl2::rotfl2: As Paul has stated, I live here because I am told I have to by not only the wife, but my mom as well. I was told she would send people to get me and bring me back until the kids reach 18.

Here that Guys, CJ is inviting us all to come live with him.

:lmao:

He already did that, it just seems that Norm's trailer is never ready. Boy that dud is not motivated.:lmao::lmao:

Another week and I am back in Kentucky. Trip to Florida fell through last week so we were going to just do a few days in Cincinnati, but SWMBO got sick so that fell through as well. I just decided it was easier to come to work and cancel the annual leave. I'll try to get it in when the weather is warmer.

SWMBO decided to stay in OH since her mind told her she was going to be out of the state for the month. Bachelor life for two more weeks though. Kids are staying with her for the home schooling. I will clean out the storage room this evening and see what isn't really necessary :rolleyes1

cold this is swimming weather:lmao:

Good work Carl!

Evening guys!

I know I havent been around much, between work and life I've been pretty swamped. Most of you guys know already, but we are in the process of refinancing the house, as well as pulling some money out of equity to pay off some bills. We had a short notice on the home inspection (VA Loan), she called Thursday afternoon telling us she would be over Friday afternoon to look around.
Seems like everything went well with that, as well as the termite inspection. No little bugs found! Hope are high that this will finish up soon, as it will enable us to free us about 800$ a month. :cool1:

I will try to play catch up in the next few days, but I will say good job Carl! As a bluenose (from my navy days) I was in 27 deg water for over a minute. So, I can feel your pain brother!

Cheers!

Matt

Hey Matt. Good luck with the refi. We did ours to a 10 year about a month ago. Plans to have no mortgage before age 50:thumbsup2, right about the time DS will be choosing his college.

Deepest apologies for my lack of posting. I've been off the DIS for about a month. Things have been hectic on all fronts (not to mention a serious bout of depression and nervous breakdown after the Baltimore ravens won the SB.)

Not making excuses for my absence. Reparations must be made.
  • I have started a tab at Aloha Isle for all visiting DIS Dads to the MK.
  • I have also provided you all with a free membership to the bacon of the month club. If you don't receive your fist shipment of bacon by March 1st, let me know and I'll have a word with my logistics manager, who also happens to be my 5 year old DD.
Okay, groveling complete, sacrifices made...
Now, who can tell me in 5 bullet points or less what I may have missed over the past month?

Hey Brett!:wave2: Waiting on the bacon. Let's see

Carl went swimming.
CJ is complaining it's cold in NJ.
Norm is till in KY.
Canadian penguins are still planning, but have not attacked.
Did you really want to know?:confused3:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Morning Guys.

Schools all closed here today. I wish I had closed the office but my employees all made it here so I guess I needed to come in as well. :lmao:

Following Scott's lead, Ticker Check.

Holiday here and we were planning to head on vacation. As we were finishing packing, DS got sick with another stomach bug. :headache::mad: Cancelled tonight and tomorrow reservations. We'll see if later in the week works out. I'm sure we'll all get it at some point.

Ummmmm.... guys.... REALLY!!!!!

I only had one request.... I am starting to see my value here...

pure%20horror14.jpg

We tried not to post, but it just wasn't possible. CJ started it.:sad2:

This weekend we finally booked our trip. We are booked from September 29th through October 9. We plan on using my parent's time share but because it is a transfer we have to wait until we are like 90 days out. So we just booked all of the trip at AOA and will change once we're booked into the timeshare.
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Now to wait for airfare to get published. :headache:

We are booked in August. Have a great trip. Maybe we'll hide something for you to find when you get there.:rolleyes1

You trying to close this thread out Brian? :lmao:

Yes....Yes he is. I'll most likely miss this one as it is school vacation week and as soon as DS feels better we'll be heading somewhere....just about anywhere at this point.

OK. Finally caught up from missing the weekend. Let's see:

DS had three games over the weekend and went 2-1. Hit a 3 with 10 seconds left int he loss to tie it, but the ref called him for a travel that was a horrible call :headache::mad:and we ended up losing. Had to actually keep one of the parents from the referee. It was that bad of a call. Oh well.

Get to start booking my ADR's for the August trip this week.:yay:

As in earlier post, was planning to head to VT, but plans on hold until DS feels better and no one else gets sick.

Sold boat.:sad2::sad2: Haven't used it enough the last couple of years due to the kids schedules and with the short season around here, it just made sense. The positive......More $$ for vacations.:thumbsup2

I think that's about it for updates. Be back on later to check up on everyone.

What is everyone up to today? I am off with the kids today for President's Day...We may celebrate by going to Wal Mart and buying groceries :rotfl2:

I have made a new Year's resolution. No, it is not to train for the TOT 10K. It is to take a week vacation every other month. I have Feb, April, Oct, & Dec reserved. I'll get June & Aug later once my schedule is out.

Today starts my Feb vacation/staycation.

I approve of that thinking.

It was still reasonable out there. Wore my (NY) winter jacket, and jeans. No head thing or gloves that I later regretted not wearing.

Exactly, I love watching the leaves change colors and the flowers bloom in spring and the bikinis come out in the summer.

I love watching leaves change color so may visit up here next fall. In South Florida flowers bloom all the time and bikinis are always at the beach.

To get out of the Canadian winters...:confused3

:lmao:

That was good. Glad you are back and can't wait to see some pics from the trip.

Cry baby.:rotfl2::rotfl2: As Paul has stated, I live here because I am told I have to by not only the wife, but my mom as well. I was told she would send people to get me and bring me back until the kids reach 18.

I see who wears the pants in the family.

OK everyone is having their fun (can't blame you and I am enjoying it) but it was insane last night. Wind chill was 3 degrees. Three freeking degrees! That is inhuman. Can't wait to change into shorts at the airport on Thursday and fly back to sunny South Florida. By then the cold front should be through there.

He already did that, it just seems that Norm's trailer is never ready. ::lmao:

I can't get DW to go with me. That is the issue.

Sorry to hear the trip got cancelled. The island trip may have been fun.

:

That's our plans as well, although house paid off and retirement eligible at 48. Then, it's 6 more years if i want to get both dds thru on my education benefit. I think I'd rather move to FL.

Sold boat.:sad2::sad2: Haven't used it enough the last couple of years due to the kids schedules and with the short season around here, it just made sense. The positive......More $$ for vacations.:thumbsup2.

The two best days for a boat - the day you buy it and day you sell it. Sorry to hear about DS basketball game ending.

What is everyone up to today? I am off with the kids today for President's Day...We may celebrate by going to Wal Mart and buying groceries :rotfl2:

You can celebrate extra by buying me some as well.

Howdy all...

So anyone here been to Destin, FL?

I have an opportunity to spend a week there in late May- early June for about $114.

So just wondering what there is to do... good places to eat...etc.

Nate we might be there at the same time!! We would be arriving June 1 for a week. We have never been either!

Hope everyone is enjoying President's Day. I'm at work still for the next half hour and then off to the dentist.

Trying to figure out this whole house buying process. DW and I are convinced that we need to move out of our neighborhood into a better area and bigger house. DW bought our current house before we were married and it was her grandparents house so there wasn't any dealing to do and the mortgage is pretty cheap. We re-financed once to put me on the note but we just went through the same bank so it was pretty painless. Anyone have any recent experience in home buying? I am nervous about it all. We know where we want to move and how much the houses there will run but not sure how much the banks will give us. All the online models based on our income, credit worthiness and such say it shouldn't be an issue but I think we are just nervous to take the next step. Anyone had any good or bad experience with getting pre-qualified/pre-approved with any of the online places such as Quicken, Lending Tree, or even Wells Fargo?

The house we are currently needs several projects completed before we can put it on the market. Maybe by June?
