DIS Dads DDC XXVI: They all went to the DDCC and all we got was this Lousy Thread!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Ooooohhh! I love gifts! Maybe some nice little chocolates. Or a Baby Ruth bar or something.

Pictures or it didn't happen!

I plan on it. When I called DVC to book the room the CM asked if we were celebrating anything, so I told her it was our 13th wedding anniversary and wre going to ride ToT 13 times. She about fell out of her chair she was so excited by the idea.
I'm also going to have some shirts made up commemorating the event and plan on taking a small white board or something so we can write the ride number on it and take a picture every time we get on.

Cool. I can't wait to see how this plays out.:thumbsup2

.I just wish you could take Mark with you. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

:scratchin Would this be a free trip to WDW?

Yes, I did get my power back. Didn't even lose it for a whole day, but if you were only judging by most posting here you'd probably think otherwise since I haven't been on the DIS much since Sandy came through.

Funny, but it was the same stretch of time the year before that I just couldn't find the time to get on the DIS. I blamed that one on my surgery. Perhaps there is just something about the holiday season that sucks up my time? :confused3

Everyone is fine. DD and DS were sick for a time. DS just a chest cold, but DD had one thing after another and is just getting back to school after being out with Strep. But, in the midst of all that we got our next WDW vacation booked for July and I've already made ADRs! ((Got Be Our Guest!!!)

We finally replaced our washer and dryer back before christmas (the washer had died in August right after we returned from WDW). Well, exactly 30 days after purchasing both, the dryer stopped working. It won't power on. Had the repair guy come to look, and he tells me my electrical circuit is not wired correctly. So I get an electrician to come, he confirms that is the case and rewires the outlet correctly. But now I'm worried that the dryer won't be covered by the warranty since the cause was my circuit. ugh. I don't know how the darn thing worked for 30 days, though?!?!?!? :confused3 (not to mentioned the previous dryer was working when I took it out, and we lived in the house 2 1/2 years with it.)

Lastly, my DW has challenged me to runDisney in January. That was a week or so ago. I've yet to do anything, but hopefully I'll get started soon. I don't own sneakers right now, so I need to do some shoe shopping. I actually need new work shoes and new casual shoes too, so I think a run to the shoe outlet is in store for me this weekend.

Gonna try to be on more. We'll see how that works out. My TR is not speaking to me. I've been neglecting it. :rotfl2:

How's this for a tasty treat? Check Southwest.com yesterday and found that I can extend my March vacation by 1 day (flying home on Saturday morning vs Friday) and pocket a credit of over $200? Booked a cheap DVC studio for Friday night and we're all set. :cool1:

Nice catch. Enjoy the extra day.:thumbsup2

Good get on BoG and good luck in the training for the run.

That's true, but I think we can do it. So far, every Monday in June and July is Evening EMH at the Studios, so it's not far of a stretch to assume that August 5 will be as well - giving us 14 hours to work with. I figure we can get in there at RD, grab FPs with our two tickets, the kids' 2 tickets and my in-laws tickets and get maybe 3 rides in before the wait gets too bad. So that's 6 rides right there - almost half way to our goal before lunch. Another round of FPs when the window opens and a few standby rides and we can be at 10 or 11 before dinner time. Wait times should decrease during Fantasmic, so I think my crazy plan just might be crazy enough to work. Luckily, the bathrooms are right next to the ride so we cut down on unnecessary walks!:rotfl2:

That's a good plan. I guess I was just thinking it was you and DW. As for the Fantasmic thing, we skipped one year to ride some more rides and it didn't open as much as I had thought it would.

It's a gift :rotfl2:

I have offered to send my Yule Log gift to you many times and you always refuse. :sad1:

Your an IT guy and still call to book yr DVC vacations. They do have a website now. Just hold on to the white board. DW would beat me with it if I ever mentioned such an idea, I told you she gripped the handrail so tight that she broke her engagement bring band.

:confused3 It never seems to be too long whenever I'm there. Maybe 15 - 45 minutes when you've got TSMM and RnR at 60+. FP's usually aren't gone too far out either, so I'd say between standby and FP's is should be doable.
ao:

Well, I consider 45 minutes too long to wait. But, we usually do RNRC in the single rider line(all 4 of us) and TSM only first ride of the day or with FP.

I grew up east of Erie PA in the snow belt. Snow of 100 inches a year was nothing unusual. I'm more scared to drive in 1/2 inch here than I ever was living there. Our county snow removal consists of a pickup with a blade on the front and a salt box. Even if they get salt down in the hollers you may not see the sun so it needs to be warm enough for it to melt the ice. If it doesn't work you have ice on the side of a mountain with a river or creek at the bottom. Two people I work with have lost relatives that way. :scared1:.

While we don't have the hollers, we still have the same inept snow removal plan as you. I've driven from neighboring, smaller counties who have clean roads, but as soon as I hit our county line, ice and no plowing. All our tax money is being used for downtown development so that our city of 50K will be a bigger tourist destination than WDW. Stupid city government.

Did he smell like BBQ?

Evening guys. Pretty sick of this cold weather...

Anybody have a hot surface ignitor I can borrow? :confused3

:rotfl2::lmao::lmao::rotfl:

Not self inflicted. Still a holdover from when I was sick on the trip. It came back with a vengeance. Was able to eat something for the first time in a couple of days. Feeling better.

There are articles about a new stomach virus going around that has never existed before. Glad it's in Miami and not up here.:scared: Nice to hear you are feeling better so I can get back to full force nemie mode. What are you doing today......raking the sand....shining your scuba tanks....maybe heading out for a sandwich on the waterfront? It must be tough to make up your mind.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

CJ needs too get busy adding in electricity and water hookups in the front yard so I can park my camper there.

The invasion has begun... there's a farmer from Saskatchewan standing in our office right now talking about how they manage to keep things running up there with temps in the -30's... I didn't ask if that is F or C... and I didn't ask if he's talking about July or August. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Now he's on oil drilling and the ice roads.

I love that TV show. Apparently this guy has driven the ice roads.

By the way, one of my favorite TV shows.

As I mentioned earlier, I was looking to also do this trip... was talking about this summer, but your post got me thinking... so I checked into an earlier cruise to escape the winter... and well...

WE JUST BOOKED!!!

We are going in 2 weeks... February 10 - got a balcony room. :cool1:  :cool1:

Congratulations!:cool1: Hope you have a great trip.

Looks like I will not be able to get TIW, since I don't meet any of the requirements:confused3

Rum is universal it goes with everything and is good anytime of the day aaaaapirate:

But, Why is the rum gone?

They are going to have to keep all sidewalks and the area around the building closed off for a while, since when it starts to melt it's going to come straight down like guillotines of ice, I wouldn't want to be walking by when it starts coming down:scared1:

Now that would be cool to watch in time elapse.:thumbsup2

Awesome, Dis Dad Meet:cool1: Maybe we can all get together on the 4th and your kids can help celebrate my son's 8th Birthday:confused3

It looks like if we go it will be around the 18th/19th and we'll miss you guys. :sad1: The positive is I think that is when Barry is there and may be able to meet up.

The not so good part is my soon to be teenage DS has been acting up with his mother and DD has started to take the cues. Pretty sure it is all my fault as usual. :headache: If this continues the furor (my wife) may demand that we do not go this year. Stupid SW airlines.:furious: If they would just open up the flight times I could get everything booked and cancelling would be too much of a bother.

Don't do anything stupid on the Dream. We're getting on it as soon as you get get off - March 7th. Try to keep it clean, would you?

We'll be there the week after - 10th - 15th. You still around?

Just booked Old Key West August 4-8th. Wait-listed Boardwalk Villas. The only plans we have so far is Hollywood Studios on the 5th. Feel free to join us on any of our 13 rides on Tower of Terror. :thumbsup2

:headache: Wait. I shoud have kept reading. I thougth you were going later in the month? Oh, well. I guess it's just me late in August. Have a good time guys.

I should be working, but 2 inches of snow coming is so I am cancelling my trip to a grant writing workshop down in south-central KY which means I just found an extra 8 hours. With 2 inches of snow the office will be closed if the forecast is correct but that just means I get to turn up the radio when I get in. Living this close to the office has its advantages and disadvantages.

You cancel work for two inches of snow?:rotfl2::rotfl2: Really? You guys are funny. We don't even notice 2 inches of snow up here. That's considered a nice, brisk winter day.

Shirts and signs and a little shmoozing of a CM or two might get you some pixie dust!

Be careful nemi, ours was alittle rough but I heard the Knoxville /Nate boonies area got it worse

Morning gentlemen.

Felt terrible all afternoon yesterday. Took some NyQuil and I feel better this morning. You'd think I'd have learned by now not to go out side without a hat when it is below zero out.

Does anyone know when Southwest will be posting their October airfares? I'm getting anxious about booking everything.

6668. I can't wait to see what it is! :woohoo:

Southwest usually posts flights about 8 months out. They have the first part of August up now, so I would expect October airfares around March or so.

Yeah, what he said.:lmao::lmao: I'm waiting for late August. It looks like they update it every 2-3 weeks and open up the calendar.

Pictures of your gift posted would be excellent! That way we could all enjoy it.

I'm playing hooky from work today... decided it would become too dangerous too quick this mornin.

And I know you would only want anything bad to happen to me out of your own design. :lmao:
