Hey Dads!

Long time lurker, 1st time poster. Just wanted to wish you all a great trip. Just got back from the World 3 weeks ago. If I would've known about this, I'd have pushed my wife to wait until after the holidays.

Figured I better get signed up and say hi finally. I'm a Western PA native, and father/husband (DW30,DS7). Have read you criteria a few times whenever I need a chuckle, and I'll just go with I qualify for #77 :)

Well, happy times to those who are in the World now, and best wishes to those looking forward to future visits.

Welcome to the group. Norm will be by later to collect the bacon and Dole whips. Someone else will get you your member number shortly. Enjoy the fun around here.:welcome:

Absolutely. We'll draft a recommendation and have all the dads sign it. That should get you fired.....I mean a raise and plenty of recognition.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Don't get me fired, it pays for my Disney related vacations!

:faint: And I thought I was behind when I saw the other thread. Well, I guess this just means I've got 2 threads to not catch up on. :rolleyes1

I've been praying and thinking about the things I desire to teach my children a lot recently. I think I'm frustrated by the number of rules we've had to create thinking that if they had the right basis for their behavior we'd need fewer rules. DW and I wound up boiling down everything to 3 values we want our family to stick too.

1. Love God
2. Love Others
3. Do your best.

This third value has us echo'ing a shortened version of Bill and Ted's Slogan to each other a lot. "Be Excellent".

I've been thinking about this a lot and I'm curious if you guys had to boil it down to 3 things what values would you want your kids to pick up?

Rule 1: You are not better then any one else.
Rule 2: No one else is better then you.
Rule 3: When in doubt, refer to Rule 1

Really, it’s just the Golden Rule broken down into is simplest elements.

John Eldredge wrote Wild At Heart plus some follow-up books that deal with what drives a man, and he and his wife wrote "Captivating" together which deals with the things that drive women. I thought these were really good. Shepherding a Child's Heart comes from Paul (I think) Tripp. They all come from a Christian perspective, in case anyone else looking into these would be bothered by that.
.

Good book. Probably why I want to live in the wilderness but have no skills to accomplish it. Meg Meeker wrote a good book about dads and daughters.

Welcome. Dues are payable in bacon, dole whips, beer, or cake.

?

One of my personal regrets is not reading the Bible enough and as such, not having my children read it. I tend to teach them most about being true to themselves - with friends, marriage, future work. And, I try to teach them about money management.

Hey Norm!:wave2:

Took you long enough to find us. I'm going to meet my lobster buddy tomorrow. I'll PM you and let you know whats up.

Are y'all now a part of the shady underground lobster black market ? Count me in!

It's tough keeping track of both. It's making hard to get anything done today.

Will do! We are digging an underground tunnel from New England to Kentucky. The lobsters will be walking all the way. We'll have to figure out where to make the connection.

Cool.

But then he comes into my office and says how he's been real happy with my performance as of late and all the responsbility I've taken on hasn't gone unnoticed. :thumbsup2

8 more hours till I'm busting out of this place!

A good day with the boss.

Got my package from Omaha Steaks (it was a christmas present, nothing says Christmas like a big box of meat:cool1:) But in the box there was a big bag of dry ice, so I get to have some fun:lmao: Already got my wife and son with the old bubbling smokey toilet trick:rotfl2:

Steaks sound good. What is the bubbling smokey toilet trick? Sounds like what I leave behind after eating all the steak.

Well if you're buying, make it two.

I thought Sean's buying. Should I have not posted your credit card #?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Welcome. Are you sure your'e allowed to put your DW's age?

She'd never risk venturing in here. I'm the Disney fanatic in the family, she's the planner. Plus she decided she'd go to the 30 and stay there :)

Welcome, your welcome to join the rest of us dads that are stuck at our jobs while the others are at the world, there's also a FB page and Disdads.com, they have an awesome podcast every Sunday and a charity auction but not sure if this past Sunday was the last auction or not

Yeah... sitting at my desk atm. Got a few days ahead of schedule, so plenty of downtime now to surf.

Welcome to the group. Norm will be by later to collect the bacon and Dole whips. Someone else will get you your member number shortly. Enjoy the fun around here.:welcome:

Uh oh... I had my last bacon wrapped Dole whip for lunch today. Better run to the store!
