DIS Dads DDC XXVI: They all went to the DDCC and all we got was this Lousy Thread!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Oh, that sucks. Sorry you have to deal with it.

Good move not calling her out on it, though. I find that doing that just opens me up to more criticism the next time I do something stupid (which is inevitable).

Or a LOT more effort is put into finding what you've done wrong, no matter how trivial

DS came down just when Luke found out what happened to his aunt and uncle. I covered his eyes for that and Alderaan getting blown up. He loved it. DD came down just in time to see the final dogfight. Her response was, "They blew up Darth Vader's planet."

Both Chris & I are in the 20+ section on the left of CT. Looks like this is actually gonna happen.

I'm with Jim in the 24+ area. :furious:

Good luck guys!

Do you offer a dish that no other restaurant in the area offers:confused3

We offer Alaskan halibut and our Broasted chicken is not offered anywhere around us.

Gnomes can float on the snow.

They have been trained by the best Canadian penguins around.

LOL... but can Randall's penguins float on snow? :scratchin

Beverly...

DW woke me up this morning telling me the bathroom floor was wet. I went in there and someone left the sink running all night and there was water standing on the floor. Went downstairs and the kitchen floor was wet too and the ceiling is sagging down. I turned the sink off and dried the standing water and headed to work while trying to keep my mouth shut. Accidents happen, but DW was the last one in that bathroom before bed. If I even talked to her this morning, it probably wouldn't have been good. :furious:

Thank goodness it is winter and we live in a drafty house. Even with a humidifier running, the air tends to be very dry. At least it should all dry well, and then we can assess the damage.:faint:
That sucks. Hopefully there isn't too much damage

We are in the 24+ category. It should be interesting to see how close they are to hat we actually get. Our record is 23.7" (Boston)back in 2003. I remember that storm. We were in a snow pocket and actually got 32" with some pretty serious snow drifts. Kids were already disappointed this morning that it is not snowing yet. Stay safe everyone, except CJ of course. He'll have to make sure he reapplies that sunblock every 4 hours.
Everything I've read is saying we are getting slammed. Although we've heard that numerous times before. One difference between this storm and the storm in 2011 (where we got 2 feet of snow) is that there is nothing more than a dusting on the ground. In 2011, we had 18-24'' on the ground when that snow came.

Here is my mailbox from the 2 ft we got in 2011. And that isn't from me shoveling it. That was from the plows.

True. Or just bank this disaster away in the memory bank and break it out when you REALLY need it. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hopefully it melts by 3/24. :scratchin

Here is another CT station... now calling for 36''+ for Chris' and my area.

EDIT: Sorry for the huge picture. I swiped it from FB

So the kids have a snow day... They are playing Minecraft on the computer and I am drinking coffee. The snow is starting to pile up and I think we are going to close the restaurant for lunch. I have about a half an hour drive from home. Maybe it will slow down a bit and we can salvage dinner.
My Neighbour is slow blowing our driveway. I guess bringing home food is paying off.:)

Looks like you guys out east are going to get hammered. Stay warm and safe. Then have fun taking the kids sledding.

The plan worked. Bravo.

Not me. I would have asked who was the last person in the bathroom and why they left the water running. She would have searched for something to change the subject and try and blame me about that happened a year ago. Accidents happen to everyone. No big deal. Just accept it, move on, and try to prevent it from occurring again. I've learned not to hold it in - it will just get worse and show up later. Glad the damage isn't that bad.

When I make a mistake, actual or perceived, then I apologize, reflect, and move on to avoid repeating the same trangression. I can't stand people who refuse to accept responsibility for their own mistakes, especially when they then blame others for the same thing.

Prayers for all those in the path of this storm. We've only had one snowfall like that in KY in my adult life, but the snow only went half way up to the mailbox. It's not the snow, but the potential complications that result from it.

Very true. We're more concerned with power lines and tress going down then we are the snow.

But the snow is a pain to clean up!

True- One thing in our favor is in the last 2 years we have had some major storms that have knocked down so many trees. Hopefully most of the weak trees have been eliminated by now. But with a heavy snow and a NE wind around 40 with gusts of 60-75mph, there still could be major issues.

Yeah, but your not at work.:sad2::sad2: Stupid International customers.

Stay safe and warm! Snow is starting to pick up here. Hopefully we can get our critical stuff done soon as get out of here.

The plan worked. Bravo.

It worked very well. This was essentially how he started turning into a geek. When he was 2 he came downstairs and saw the opening of The Battle of Hoth. He was hooked. They have numerous early reader and kiddie Star Wars books. They know most of the story but not many of the more gruesome details.

So this storm is an Alberta clipper and a Texas low coming together. Next time you guys in Texas want to give us something......let's just say its the thought that counts. :)

BE safe up there Paul.

Unfortunately, Melody HAD to go into work. She doesn't get out till 7 tonight (hopefully). I hope the roads are still open at that time so she could get home. I made her an emergency bag for the car with blankets, water, gloves, a scarf, a hat, and food- god forbid she ever got stuck.

Now I will have to be ready at my 180+ day mark for ADR's because DW wants Thanksgiving dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. Wish me luck! popcorn:: Any other recommendations for Thanksgiving dinner?
You might want to think about a late lunch instead at LTT. Cheaper and the 3:00 parade comes right by your door. When I eat there, I usually shoot for a 2:00 ADR.

Dude- that's awful. I'm cheap and not handy around the house so I hate unexpected home damage.

I guess Connecticut husbands are nicer than Virginian ones. When we get snow, I just give her a pat on the fanny and say "Good Luck- don't hit anything."
