Happy Birthday. Great pic and poke.

Short week in the office for me, just today and tomorrow. Heading out to meetings and a conference on Wednesday in Montreal. Too bad there is no hockey right now, there was a game scheduled.

Me too. Off today and tomorrow due to presidential election. I guess it is a way for me to recover from all the campaign lies. I tried to talk DW into a Disney vacation over the weekend, but no. But, the football game was a nice consolation.

I just heard Eddie Money

I throw out those every now and then to see who gets the reference. Bravo.

Welcome to the new guy who shall not be called Paul because we have too many!:rotfl2:

Let's not pick on the new Paul until we get our dues. :lmao:

Well lets get Monday started with a posting outage.
All is well it is a new week and "time to make the donuts."
To all of us having a good week, especially since my ends with being in Disney.

Dunkin donuts. I'm ready to make a run.

Happy birthday Carl!

Spent the weekend in camping in Northern Virginia with my brother (crazydadguy) and some friends, then drove 30 some miles down Skyline Drive. What a great view. Will definitely have to take the family there when its not covered in snow!

IMG_0148.jpg

Beautiful shot (except for that weird-looking guy in the picture :rotfl2:). I bet that area is spectacular with fall color.

We are looking at renting the points not buying in, not ready for the purchase yet. There is only the three of us so we would be looking at a studio or 1 bedroom.

Renting is a good value. Go for a 1br, they're terrific for the price. If you're going to go studio, it's not much better value then getting a regular deluxe room through Disney.

Paul is right. The 1 BR is amazing and pricing is right. Plus, having that extra room, king bed, and washer/dryer in your own room is excellent. If you stay at BLT or AKV Kidani then you get a second bathroom. Just be careful, because it hard to go back. We stayed at a 1 BR at SSR and the dds keep asking to go back there for the room. They haven't realized you can get the 1 BR at each resort. A part of me really wants to stay in the 1 BR as well. But, having two trips is nice. After we go this Easter trip, if it is that bad, we may end up just going once a year.

Wish I could afford to go direct and refer you Norm
Now that I know we will be taking Disney trips more often dvc seems the way to go, sucks about the no cruises with resale but that's a bridge ill cross when DD is older, but def feel that BLT is a better fit then OKW so ill be shopping for a resale soon.

I think BLT is over $50 per point cheaper thru resale market. I've used TimeShare Store for all our transactions. Plus, you have a standard option. But, a week at OKW or BWV SV is still quite a bit cheaper than BLT. There are a lot of decisions. For the same time in October (our Fall Break)
OKW - 78; BWV SV -78; BLT SV - 102

So true, I hate the attacks that take place on the DVC boards.

But, they have some good info. There is a thread about selecting your home resort that is real good. I think our Dis Dad DVC group has good info without the hateful attacks.

That was a huge non call on the offensive pass interference by White near the end of the Atlanta-Dallas game. Dallas still had chances to stop them and get them off the field and couldn't do it.

It's the Cowboys. Until they get rid of Garrett and pick a head coach that won't do things Jerry Jones wants (draft picks, offenses, etc), they will continue to struggle.

Well, I screwed up Saturday morning. DW had to leave at around 9 am and DS was going to stay with me and help me get some work done around the farm. One of the jobs I had to do was move some fuel tanks and I really didn't want him running around while I was picking up heavy metal objects, so I was outside before daylight trying to get them moved. I had to use my phone's flashlight feature to see to unhook some wiring since it was still dark and apparently, I didn't put the phone all the way back in my pocket. I got on the tractor and started grading the area where the tanks were being moved to and I noticed a small black rectangle object on the ground. Needless to say, smart phones and tractor tires aren't a good combination. My screen is out, but I can still receive phone calls. Otherwise, I'm just carrying a paperweight.

I went to the Verizon store Saturday afternoon and sat there for 2.5 hours. Supposedly, Verizon's customer network went down at some point while they were working on getting me a new phone and they are supposed to call me when they can finish the process... :confused3 They blamed it on Sandy. :rolleyes2 I don't know what the exact situation is, but by the time I left Saturday, the guy promised that I will only have to pay 50% for the new phone and they'll throw in an Otterbox. I remained calm and patient while I was there, so I did appreciate that gesture from them, but my patience is going to wear pretty thin if I don't have a new phone in my hand by this afternoon. :furious:

It might have helped that I had a 2 year old with me in the store and he actually behaved phenomenally until the last half hour or so when he kept begging to go home. :rotfl2:

Good morning everyone...

I got my Tags, YESSSSSSSSSSS

Thank you dear Tag Fairy. I will be forever in your debt.
Congrats! :thumbsup2

I ran in the Give Kids the World 5K Gingerbread Run this morning. It was awesome! They raised over $125,000 for GKTW. I finished with a time of 29:30. A little faster then I would have liked to run but being it was only a 5K it was good. Here is a fuzzy picture from early this morning.
Congrats on the run, and that's great that they earned that much money!

I hope you're all having a great time!

Irish win :cool1:

My heart can't take much more :crazy2:
:furious:

I'm just ready to see Purdue fire the coaching staff. I've defended Hope for the past few years because he's done well recruiting and he was actually probably over acheiving with the talent he had and injuries he had to deal with. This year though is the most talented team he's had and it is the worst performances he's put on the field.

The D line should be dominant, yet they're getting run all over. Hope is an O line coach, yet they can't run the ball or protect the QB. I'm over it. I wanted them to hire Sumlin when they hired Hope instead. It's really looking like they made a great call there... :headache:

Hey Chris! (ClearScreen)
Happy Birthday... a little late.

Happy "one extra hour of sleep unless your have a five year old daughter" day
Or a 2 year old and a 6 month old.

Well, take your nemesis to a NFL game was a success. The Colts won :littleangel: I'll let Norm post the pics :thumbsup2
It was a great game. I looked for you in the crowd, but I couldn't spot the 2 of you among the other 66000 people. :rotfl2:

Must be nice having a young franchise quarterback. :headache:
You have Christian Ponder. Oh.......right, you said a franchise quarterback.:rotfl2::lmao:
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I'm just glad the Colts were smart enough to intentionally throw so many games last year just so they could get him.

I'd love to sign up! Glad I found this place, my wife, DD8 and DD10 are leaving for our FIRST ever trip to the world in December!! My job allows me to spend a lot of time reading and planning every detail of this trip. I'm guilty of reading this site while in my tree stand deer hunting! The whole family is in full Disney mode. Our kids think we are going in February and driving a motor home to Florida, they have NO idea we leave December 16th and staying until Christmas Eve. I would be proud to be a part of DIS Dads.

Paul
Welcome to the club! You're going to love the Christmas season at Disney World. We went the week after Thanksgiving last year to enjoy the Osborne lights and MVMCP and we're going to go back again this year.

Looks like the car will be done maybe perhaps by Weds. She could be sitting in the driveway. They just have to paint the bumper and have it cure. They have to o the whole car in a light coat but looks good so far.
Wow, that is pretty fast for the amount of damage it had. Looks good! :thumbsup2

The first ever Dis Dad NFL meet. Thanks David.

Ticket to paradise? Well, I did get a Colts insulated cooler bag.

Seats at the 50 yard line, 11 rows up.

And, it was a good game. And, they beat CJ's team. A great day.
Awesome! I think I was across from you guys at about the 20 in suite 42. I've got to say it was awesome in the suite. We had all the food and beverages we wanted, but the suite only had 16 seats and there were around 30 people in there. Granted there were seats and TV screens inside the suite, but if I'm going to attend the game, I want to see the frickin live action. I got to sit and watch the first quarter, then during the second quarter they brought the Lombardi trophy and a Super Bowl ring in. They brought it out and passed it around which was cool. Then they came out and asked if we'd had our picture taken with the trophy. They insisted that we had to do it. Needless to say, "move your feet, lose your seat." :headache: DW ended up sitting on one of the chairs in the suite talking with another one of the wives for the rest of the day and I stood in the aisle next to our seats the rest of the game. It was fun, and I'd go again, but I really would prefer to have a seat to sit in. At least it was a good game! :thumbsup2

Hey Nemesis! (Carl)

Happy Birthday Carl!

Yeah thats what I said. They are going to leave the bumper off until I get there and take a look at it. So I can look at their work. But thanks I sure hope I cant tell a difference or it will be up for-sale, lol.

Sorry to hear about the phone and long wait. It would have been nice to get you in the picture, then it could have been the first Dis Dad NFL convention. It was a good game, and while the suite, food, and Lombardi trophy would have been really cool, those seats David had were really cool.

Yeah... row 11, 50 yard line is pretty awesome! :thumbsup2 I seriously would rather sit there than in the suite where I was. But for a free ticket, and free food, I really can't complain. :rotfl2:

The car looks good. Hopefully you'll be able to get more frequent PT visits and not require surgery

Some of the OKW Contracts were extended to 2057 and are available in the resale market. Not sure if they are available thru Disney or if dues changed.
I remember reading that. I think when you look at fidelity or timesharestore they list the expiration date on every contract so you can see if that particular OKW contract has a 42 or 57 expiration.

Renting is a good value. Go for a 1br, they're terrific for the price. If you're going to go studio, it's not much better value then getting a regular deluxe room through Disney.
I thought that when I've checked you can get a studio for about the cost of a moderate and a 1 br for less than the cost of a deluxe. Looking at renting points for a room in mid Jan renting points for a studio at BLT would range from 200-300 per night depending on view, a 1br would start at 400 and renting a room in the contemporary would cost 480.

But, they have some good info. There is a thread about selecting your home resort that is real good. I think our Dis Dad DVC group has good info without the hateful attacks.

+1 on the DVC thread in our subforum. Once you get out of our little community here or a couple other small communities on the DIS people can be really mean. A friend was flamed on the main forum for asking about renting a stroller for one of her kids. They acted like she was a horrible parent for wanting a stroller available to her 5 year old, because she might not be able to keep up with her older siblings.

Anyone have any guesses when Grand Floridian points might go on sale?

Happy Birthday Carl

That sounds about right. Usually when we've stayed in a regular room at Contemp/GF they've had a 35% off deal, so it works out to be a bit cheaper than renting the DVC points, but there really is nothing like a 1br, the space and amenities are terrific. :thumbsup2

Curious on the GF points myself. Don't think we'll buy any there, but I'm excited to check it out once it's up.

Good Morning, gang!!

How is everyone??

(as I was typing this, DS walked up to me with something in his hand. I didn't realize what it was at first. Then I got wet and saw that he had DW's unfinished cup of iced tea and he tried to drink it.)

I've always thought of GF as a grandparents hotel, but DW expressed interest in having points there. Maybe she's already thinking forward to when both kids out in college and considering us old.:confused3 I could see buying a 50 point contract to use for weekend or every 2 or 3 year trips.
