She was given the warnings- either clean it CORRECTLY or i'm coming in with the trash bags, after 2 days - i had enough.

Walked in with the trash bags, the only things left in her room are...
bookcase with books
bed
american girl doll on bed
2 stuffed animals on bed
floor lamp
lamp on bookcase
clock/radio
beanbag chair
rocking chair

ayup thats it. In her built ins are her clothes, and her closet has other clothes..no dresser

her room hasnt been this clean in MONTHS. she has to maintain this room until December 1st, and if she can WITHOUT constant reminders- she will have this trash bag full of toys back (well, not all of em, i'm tossing broken/missing piece toys)..

out of all of this bag, she's most upset about Shania Twains UP! CD!

lol

I have to laugh at this.....cause our son is going to be 36 next week and I remember doing this to his room and his sisters (33) room.....either i can walk thru it or vacumm thru it or I was helping .........and I did.....bags of stuff and then if they maintained it .......they could have SOME of their stuff back......to funny and you brought back alot of GOOD memories

oh yah I found half my dinner ware and silver under beds........ :rotfl2:

I like your style. I've trash bagged DD (7) room before. I guess it's the military in me.

My mom used to do that to me. I could keep my room clean for about a week afterwards but that was it. I still have issues with this at home. Well actually most of the house is pretty clean but my home office is a disater area. My mom came in here and said, "I see nothing has changed with you" :rotfl:

Good for you.I gave the same ultimatum to my DD6 the other day,She did great and probably got rid of more stuff than I would have.

My Mom did that to me once when I was a kid. She threw everything into a couple of huge duffle bags and dragged it away. I got it back when she started getting phone calls for an overdue library book :)

I left my DD's room "as is" while she went away to college. It is pretty much a disaster. I went looking for my moccasins the other day and found them under her bed along with a lot of other interesting missing stuff. :rotfl2: Hopefully we can remedy it this weekend. I dont know if I can take away her toys as easily!

Is that where it comes from? LOL I do that too! In fact BOTH DD's rooms are due for a trash bagging before Christmas.

I agree with you. I have one kid that is a complete mess maker. She's about to lose her room space and she knows that.

Hey its an organized mess as I like to call it. I can find anything in it its just messy.

My mother allowed me to have a completely messy bedroom when I was growing up. I guess at the time I was glad that I never really had to organize it (it was messy, but not dirty! lol), but I know it always bothered me to never know where anything was. I just didn't have the skills at those ages to do it myself. The rest of the house, by the way, was very neat and clean and organized, so I don't know why my mother didn't force me to keep my room clean! She's been gone now for a while, so I can't even ask her. lol

Anyway, I have done the same exact thing with the trash bags, with DS(now 14), when he was about 8/9/10 years old. In fact, some of those bags are still in the attic because even though he keeps his room mostly straightened up these days, we all just forgot about the stuff in the bags. LOL I figure one day it'll be fun for us to get those bags down and go through them; a trip down memory lane. :teeth:

DS17 has never had a messy room. It isn't always 100% straightened up, but he'll clean his room on his own, when it gets to a certain point. I guess DS14, and I, just don't/didn't have that natural inclination to straighten up our bedrooms when they started to get messy.

As for me now, my house is *always* organized with everything in its place. Nothing is ever left out; I just can't stand that. SO maybe living with a messy bedroom for all those years did have a certain benefit because now it makes me nuts if even a pillow on the couch in the livingroom isn't perfectly straight. :earboy2:
