Hello,
My DH and I have always been to WDW alone and this will be our 1st trip together as a family. I am getting worried that I won't be able to "SLOW" down and go at my daughter's pace because I'll be too excited when I get there!!!Has this ever happened to anyone else and any suugestions? :birthday

It's real hard for me not to plan too much activity. We have been to WDW twice over the past couple years and will be going there this May with DD4 and DS3. During these trips, including our trip coming up, we've simply resigned ourselves to two rules - (1) down days wedged between park days and (2) afternoon breaks on park days. Some families with young kids can go non-stop and it won't have a negative impact on the family. Ours can't. You know your own family better than anyone and you also know how mentally stimulative and physically tiring WDW is. You'll have a great time no matter what, but you'll have an optimal time if you go into it with realistic expectations and allow your plan to be altered if DD starts to get washed out.

I think you may be surprised at how much they are able to go,go,go. We just went in January with our three year old son who usually had a nap everyday and he was so excited to see everything he was jumping out of his stroller to get to the next ride or see the next show. He loved the shows as much as the rides. He did fall asleep while waiting in line a couple of times. I would wake him when the ride came and he was instantly rejuvenated. I hope you all have a great time!

We go in early June and our youngest DD has always been able to keep up the pace. We don't usually go back to the room for a break--instead we usually find a nice air-conditioned attraction for naptime. The Hall of Presidents works great!! She also will nap in her stroller. In the two visits we have made, she has had only one meltdown after a really long day but even that only lasted a few minutes. Have fun!!

I actually had the same question a last yearwhen we took our DD (19months old at the time) for her first trip to the magical realm of Disney. When we got there we were so excited for her to take in the sights we forgot about our usual need to see everything and focused moore on seeing everything as if it were new through the eyes of our DD. After the first day we realized it was just as much fun watching her experience the excitement of WDW that we felt our first time years ago. And it was almost like going for the first time all over again. (with the exception of knowing my way around). I think you will be plesantly suprised at how exciting seeing the park through the eyes of a child will be for you. Best wishes to you and your family and I hope you have a magical time.::MickeyMo
