To anyone who has stayed at both (or either), which do you prefer and why? I have HHonors points that would allow us to stay at either hotel, but I would like to know opinions about the quality of rooms, and walk to DD.

Hey MermaidsMom,

I was blessed to be able to stay at both hotels this year: Hilton in March and the DoubleTree in June. I preferred the DoubleTree because of the two rooms, the frig and the microwave. Both hotels had room service, but the Hilton had a better "convenience store" in the lobby. The bus for the parks stops at the Hilton first. I noticed that after a while the bus gets pretty full, so being the first on the bus helps.

We've stayed twice at the Hilton because of Priceline, and found it to be VERY nice. The rooms were big, clean and nice, with attractive views. We really like Finn's, one fo the lobby restaurants, and they are the closest hotel to DD - a five minute walk. We were able to walk over to DD, then catch a bus from there anywhere we wanted to go. I prefer the Disney hotels, but the Hilton was nice, too.

I've never been but I'm going for 1 night in November. We got the room through Priceline for 65.00, I'll post a review when we get back! :)

We stayed at the DTD Doubletree Guest Suites in November of 1999. The hotel had just been refurbished and our 1-br suite was great. The room decor was very colorful, but tasteful, and the room was huge, about 600 square feet. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, and it was very good. We did not use the pool, but I don't think it had any special theme. We also did not use the transportation because we had rented a car.

I was also just offered the Doubletree on HH points after asking for the Hilton. I don't know as there are mixed reviews. Has it been long enough that the rehab work is finished? We have stayed at the Hilton before and it was nice, but even it is not my first choice for Disney, that would be the Swan, soooo??? Well the Hilton is a great deal at 100,000 points for 6 nights but not sure about the Doubletree. Suggestions please. Thank-you.:)

I just booked through priceline at $70 per night in March for the Hilton. I would appreciate any comments and I will be sure to post a review our brief (two night) stay there.

We stayed there in 2000. It was nice, just an average Hilton. The staff was especially nice to our children. There were not very many kids there, mostly convention/business travelers. You can walk across the street to Downtown Disney. There is transportation but we preferred our own car. I was hopeful to stay there again over Spring Break but no rooms were available. I think $70 is a great price for this hotel.:D

I never stayed at the Doubletree, I have stayed at the Hilton in May of 2002, and I will be staying there again in 19 days!

The Hilton room was nice and clean, adequate size for 2 adults, 2 kids. I like the lobby of the hotel, it was very pretty, and the store down in the lobby area also had alot to choose from. We only ate at Covington Mills for breakfast and we enjoyed the buffet. There is a large game room that my son enjoyed and it's right next to the laundry facilities, so, he could play games and I could wash a load of clothes. The pool area is nice, there is a nice hot tub in a private area, as well as a small kiddie pool, and 2 big pools. There is a rental hut right there also to rent fun things for the kids to float on in the pool. They also have a snack bar/drink bar that has daily drink specials. The distance to DD is great, my family loves to go to DD at night and it was a short walk away.

We were lucky enough to get great Priceline deals for both stays and I'm looking forward to staying there again.

i know you didnt ask about this one, but we looked at the double tree and the hilton and the wyndham palace. the Wyndham palace had loads of extras for the same cost of the hilton. two queen beds instead of doubles, and playstation! to name a few.

I stayed at the Doubletree while attending a conference at the Hilton. The Hilton is nice, but is a typical 4-star convention hotel that you might find in any major city. The Doubletree is a much better value. I was able to get a 600 sq ft suite (just for myself!) for under $100 whereas the *conference* rate at the Hilton was $165! I preferred to save the money for our family vacation.

The Doubletree is a nice, well-run 3-star hotel with enormous rooms that sleep up to six. The furnishings are plain but so what? There is a cheap microwave and small fridge and a sink. There is a restaurant which I didn't use as there are so many other places to eat nearby. The chocolate chip cookies are really good!

If you can get them for the same number of HHonors points and are not concerned about room size, I'd take the Hilton. But if you can get the Doubletree for fewer points or want a suite instead of a standard room, go with them.

DH and I were just at the Hilton 2 weeks ago. We did not like it at all would never stay there again. If you read the mousesavers review, she hits it right on the head. Its very business like, which is fine if your there with no kids. The service at the front desk was horrible. We also ate at Finns but it is extremely pricey, I would never eat there with children. Yes it was within walking to DtD.

I used Priceline and thats how I ended up there, I probably would never use it again for fear of being stuck with the Hilton.
