DD Upset About Necklace We Bought At WDW **UPDATE 9/17/02**

I just finished writing WDW Merchandise through their website to let them know how devastated my DD is.

When we were last there in July, we purchased a necklace for her at the Emporium (our favorite MK store!) which had the correct spelling of KRISTEN and had the mickey ears on it with blue (sapphire like) stones, which happens to be her birthstone.

Today she came home from school and noticed one of the stones was missing. She wears this necklace everyday and she is absolutely heartbroken.

When I wrote to WDW Merchandise I asked them if it was possible to get a replacement stone for it . . .does anyone know if they do things like this?

I had the best surprise waiting for me in my email today! Tina from WDW had written in response to my letter and guess what? They are sending my DD a brand new necklace! Isn't that great? I never expected them to do that . . .I was just hoping to get a replacement stone . . .WOW! :) Of course I emailed Tina back right away to let her know how much that was appreciated! I really felt that they went above and beyond on this! DD's new necklace will be here in 10 - 20 business days.
 
I doubt it, if its anything like the earrings my daughter bought, (around 12.00) they are just cheap stones, my advice to you is try and locate another necklace through them, the cost of replacement plus shipping of a little stone may be the same for a brand new necklace.
 
So sorry DD is so upset. I would definately ask if they could either fix or replace it. It doesn't hurt to try.

It might be faster just to take it into your nearest jewellry store and have them glue in a new stone.
 

You should be able to find a fake gemstone in a major craft store such as Michaels, A.C. Moore, etc.

Just be sure to use a strong glue when attaching it.
 
My sister had the same problem with a charm she bought in February ’01. (Her stone was also blue - both her children born in September.) I happened to be going down there last November, so I brought it with me. I had no idea where she bought it, but found one like it in the gift shop at PO-R. When I explained what happened to the CM, she just made an even exchange.
 
I don't know what will happen on line, but I know you can exchange it if you're going back to Disney World. I have one of the silver rings that has crystal and colored stones (mine are blue) with a Mickey head made of three stones in the center. I love the ring, but one of the stones always eventually falls out. I take it back the next time I go and get a new one -- I'm up to three now.

I haven't heard from WDW yet, but I'm going to check with AC Moore to see if they carry something as small as that.
