I don't know if this has been posted yet...
But some hospitals do have waterproof casts. They are completely waterproof and you can go swimming in them. Insurance doesn't cover the extra cost so you may have to pay around $45-$55 for it.
I only know this because my DD3 fractured her arm last Sat. and is sporting a lovely hot pink waterproof cast
She has been swimming and bathed with no problems. They did tell me that pool water needs to be rinsed out after swimming. You can take a hose and run water in the top and out the bottom of the cast. Being that you would be on vacation and probably not have a hose, you could fill a water bottle with fresh water and squirt it in.
