My dd (19) is planning a trip to DLR in February, she will be taking her younger cousin with her. This is making me real nervous, as this is her first trip out of Canada on her own, and the fact that she is taking a 10 year old with her.

When we have gone, we stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites, because I like that it has more room for us, and I always rent a car, so being close to the parks was never a issue. She will not have a car to rent, so I want her to be close enough to be able to walk if they want, but also in a good safe clean hotel.

Any suggestions & tips would be greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend the Tropicanna Inn & Suites! I have stayed there several times and never had or heard of any problems or saty issues. It is also located right accross the street from the DLR. When you walk outside of the hotel the crosswalk to DLR is right there! The Disnelyland guide shows that it is the closest hotel that is not apart of the resort. They also have good rates! There is also a convience store located right on the property which is great if they should need anything. There also multiple resturants on the same block.

Let me know if you ave any further questions.

:)

Best Western Park Place Inn is right at the crosswalk (a little closer to DL than the Tropicana, but there's nothing wrong with the location of either one!), and it's pretty nice - I thought the rooms were good-sized and nicely appointed, with a relatively large fridge and a small microwave. It's all exterior hallways and stairways, though - if she wants to feel more "safe" she might want to request a room on an upper floor (there are three floors).

Make sure she has documentation to be able to seek medical care etc for the minor, most likely won't need it, but better safe than sorry.

As for hotels, there are several right along harbor that would be very easy to walk to and from.

I'm booked into the Park Vue Inn, mainly because of the location and price. You might just need to check the minimum check in age, because I think some of them the minimum age is 21...
Correct me if I'm wrong :confused3

Just wanted to give you a heads up on crossing boarder with a minor that you are not a parent of....The customs people take this very seriously now and you require written permission signed by both parents or guardians and we were told that it needed to be witness by an notary or lawyer as proof of permission. We have even noticed that they are asking alot more questions even if your travelling with your own kids without one of the parents. I would hate to have your DD trip ruined because they would not let her on the plane with her cousin . Just wanted to mention it.

We like the Tropicana. We were there in July and it was a great hotel. In fact if the place we want isn't available in October we are going to shoot for the Tropicana again....and hope it's free! LOL

Good luck to her and her cousin, I hope they have a great time!!

Not sure if this is an option do to price but why not stay onsite??? It would probably put all your minds to ease knowing she'll be in disney hands.
