We moved into a new house this past week, so we have things spread everywhere. Well, I had put the surprise Christmas presents for dd and ds in a closet so I would know where they were. Today I fell asleep and 3-year-old dd decided to look around the new house. She found the presents. She told me that I bought a lot of the things that she was wanting.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} Oh me, oh my! I don't know what I would do. Let me know what you decide!

Oh yeah,

I remember those days.!

My dd is the biggest present snoop ever!.

You'll just have to do some creative wrapping, so she ca''t tell what it is easily.

Herc.

What a bummer. But on the other hand what a smart little DD you have!:p

Creative wrapping and some small stocking gifts should do the trick! Good luck.

That sucks! That'll teach you to sleep and let the kids wander the house. :D :jester: ;)

Thats why I wrap first thing.. and keep an excel spreadsheet as to what it what...

I remember when I was younger, my sister and I went snooping and found a bunch of wrapped presents with our names on them. We made a pact to open one each and picked similar boxes. They were Barbies and I liked hers and she liked mine, so we wrapped them back up and switched name tags.

Christmas morning came and boy was my mom confused when we opened the gifts - she said to my dad "I thought that one was for Debbie and the other for Jennifer". I am 39 years old (today infact), and they STILL don't know. :)

Oh no! I'm such a baby about Christmas that I'd be tempted to make plans to trade gifts with all the grandmothers, aunts, etc & then have her help you wrap the gifts that you "bought for another little girl who wouldn't be having Christmas otherwise. Tell her you thought the child would really like these things since she had suggested them. If she says "but I wanted this" tell her that Santa has her list. At 3 she very well may forget by Christmas, but it would be a chance to teach her to care for others.

Good luck!

Deb

I'm with Boots...I don't know what I would to in this situation. Will you buy different gifts and return these?

The suggestion from piratesmate is excellent!!!

I snooped as a kid too and Christmas was always such a letdown--all the neat stuff I thought was for me ended up being for one sibling or another!

Good luck!

:teeth:....great story.
They may know soon ;)

Oops! At 3 your DD is likely to forget what she saw by Christmas, but if not, you can get creative with the Santa needs extra storage space/can't deliver everything at once/ or any other excuse that you can come up with. It'll be fine, don't worry.

Yep I wrap right away also and code them with post-its by number. I keep a list of what is hidden where. I would tell her they are for her cousins or other kids, by the time Christmas rolls around she will have forgotten.

Actually, she has a great memory. :) DH and I are amazed at the things she remembers sometimes. I did mention about them not all being for her. One particular thing I had been deciding between giving to her or being a Toys for Tots (or some other organization) donation. It seems that she might have made the decision easier. :) The only other cousins in the same age range are very far away and they usually send gift certificates. The biggest challenge now is for her not to tell ds, but so far so good on that front. ;)

DS found his Christmas presents a few years ago & I told him Santa was planning on brining him SOOOOOOOO many presents that he must have had to drop some off early. :D That seemed to work pretty well for us.
