I'm a little confused here. I have been reading through the trip reports and find quite a few people saying that they have had to pay $5 per person to use the Downtown Disney check-in. However, in both Virgin's Premier and 2nd Edition brochures, it clearly states that this facility is 'completely FREE!' (2ND EDITION) and 'exclusively FREE' (Premier edition). It does qualify it by saying 'to all Virgin Holiday's guests'. Is it the case that the people who have had to pay are not Virgin Holidays guests, but rather are just flying with Virgin Atlantic, having booked through other operators?? Have Virgin changed their policy maybe?? What's the story here?

You've got it right. If you book via Virgin Holidays - package or fly-drive - you'll receive a voucher for each member of your party worth the $5 of DD check-in. Virgin Atlantic passengers don't have the vouchers and so need to pay the $5.

We were there and used dd check in this christmas. We didn't have vouchers, they just took our bags and didn't ask for any money.

Thanks for the help and the prompt replies. It would seem to be something of a lottery then, if your experiences are anything to go by. Just depends who turns up to man the check-in on the day!!

Its Virgin check-in at DTD (Downtown Disney).

Just off the parking lot outside the Cirque building (the one that looks like a big white circus tent at the far end of Westside.
