Last night DD12 lost her mind twice during ghost hunters. She LOVES this show. Really, she loves anything that has to do with the paranormal. She has stated, this is what she wants to do, when she is outta school.

She was bouncing all over the love seat with some of the video that they captured at Fort Henry. She was squealling with delight over the door opening and closing, multipule times.

But the thing that really got her going, was the commercial for Ghost Hunters Academy. Steve and Dave go on the road with young, new investigators who want to get into the field and show them the ropes. She told me she wanted to do it, she didn't care what she would have to give up...she wants to go on investigations with them. Looked it up for her and it's for college students. She is going to be so bummed.

I'm glad she is into this....but I have to tell you, if I was standing there and a very heavy door closed, opened, then closed itself hard and latched itself....I would 1st pee my pants, then 2nd get the heck outta dodge and not come back. No way could I stand there and ask it to do it agian and actually get it to do it again.

My 10 year old DD is the same way. :)

She discovered the kid's version called the Othersiders Ghost Hunting show on the Cartoon Network and cries if she misses it. She also wants to do that for a living! :rotfl2:

Thankfully, she doesn't know there's a Ghost Hunters Academy or she'd insist on going there when she grows up!

My son is younger than both your kids and he specifically asked for certain ghost hunting items for Christmas! He wanted to do the Academy too but he is way too young. Forget all the creepy stuff happening, I would never crawl in someone's basement full of bugs. Blech!

Bustin' makes me fel good!

So, how does one make a living hunting ghosts these days? I mean, without a proton pack and the ecto-1.

She wants a digital voice recorder. DH told her he'd think about it. She has gottn a new season of GH every Christmas for the last couple of years. She will watch these over and over.

A couple of weeks ago, we were in the bookstore and DH told both kids, they could get a new book. DS went and got one from the SW series he reads. DD went and got Ghost Photos: The paranormal caught on film. It's got some interesting photo's. Some you can tell are double exposure, others you can't figure out how it happened.

Lorraine Warren and her late husband Ed have made a pretty good living being "ghosthunters". They live in the next town over from me, they are paranormal investigators, have been involved in some pretty interesting stuff...were present at the situation which spawned the movie "The Amityville Horror".

I am an extremely practical person in every way, and I have to tell you that I truly do think there is something to the paranormal. I think we humans that are "here" are pretty cocky if we think we're it. I feel the same way about aliens.

I bought my dd (12) a TAPS t shirt for back to school. She LOVES the show and watches them all.

Oh yes, the digital voice recorder. To give you an idea of my son's age he is going to ask Santa for a full spectrum camera. I didn't even know what that was! I have a feeling though that Santa thinks he has been good enough to get one though. Something about that Santa where he always comes through ya know?;)

DD thinks the K2 meter is cool, but really likes the thermal imager. She always says that they need to pan slower with the thing and someone needs to be looking directly at the screen, while the other is panning. We watched the episode of Destination Truth last week and she kept yelling at Josh to slow down with his panning.

My kids have strange interest. She wants to ghost hunt and DS14 wants to search for big foot. DH influnced DS interest, not sure who got her hooked
on the paranormal stuff. Yea, I like watching the stuff...but no way do I want to go looking to have the stuff happen while I am around.

Great thread!!

I've been investigating for about 8 years! I was always into the paranormal. When I was kid I would write my reports on things like Telekinesis, Poltergeists etc... I even wrote to the Gov't, when I was about 11, to get info on Project Blue Book! This was in the 70s!! All my teachers just wished I would write my reports on ponies and kittens, like all the other girls. Ha ha!!

Now that this stuff has become popular, there is an outlet interested people and I don't feel quite as strange. I have done a couple of group investigations with the TAPS people (Queen Mary, Stanley Hotel) and people from other shows. DH and I even spent the night on Alcatraz! That was awesome!!

The downside....equipment is really spendy and it's very difficult to make a living with it. Most reputable investigators do it for free, or by optional donation to help cover costs.

If any of your kids have questions, feel free to ask. :-)

So, are they still an active team even after his death? Doesn't that give them a commercial advantage?
