DD and DH will be visiting London and Scotland from July 24-Aug 4. They are going with DD's soccer team. We have not received a list of what kind of clothing they shoulf pack for the weather. Anyone?? I figure the temps should be about the same as we have here anywhere from high 70-low 90's. What do you think???? I wish they would include a packing list. :confused3 She is planning on some shorts and tees, a light dress, sneakers, flip flops (she lives in these and has them in every color) Crocs, a bathing suit, some capris, jeans and a pair of light warm up pants. I also talked her into a light jacket. The team will be wearing team warm ups for the games and when touring. Anything that she NEEDS to bring that we are forgetting? Will it be very rainy??? Thanks in avance.

Everything!! it could be baking hot, it could be cold and rainy, wear layers, carry a light waterproof, an umbrella is a must, long sleeved garments are a must if she'll be in rural Scotland - the midges will eat you alive. don't go too heavy on the shorts and tees, if she does get to wear them it probably won't be enough to warrant a change every day.

Here in Glasgow at the moment it is beautifully sunny but very cold. I would suggest packing lots of t shirts, jumpers/cardigans that can be layered and taken if when the temperature gets a little warmer. It is also very wet here in Scotland so would also suggest some rain proof clothing and a good jacket is also essential.

Where abouts in Scotland are they visiting?

up here in the highlands we are having a rare glimpes of the sum. Temp is hovering around 20 ish so quite hot for us! Although the sun is out we have been having some wicked showers of rain all week - just like really heavy thunder plumps. Would not recomment many shorts/flip flops if coming up this far north as previous poster said you will get eaten alive by midgies. Short trousers and jeans are perfect tho :thumbsup2

They will be traveling to Edinbourgh and then on to London. Thank you so much for all the information. Ummmm what are Midges??? Are they fleas, mosquitos? What kind of bug spray should I pack for her?? Thanks again.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city ~ They will have such a wonderful time.

midges are like mosis but are a lot smaller and think that pepole taste very very nice! :lmao:

I will definitly get some bug stuff to help make my family taste GROSS and YUCKY :rotfl: Thanks again for the info. I will get sunscreen and bug repelent.

if they are only coming as far north as edinburgh then they shouldnt be to bothered by the midgies. They are worse up here in the far north and particularly bad over on the west coast. hope they have a fab trip x :drive:

Hi

I would take all sorts of clothes. I live in Kent so I am about 30-40 miles away from London. I find the weather can unpredictable for a couple of days we have had high 80's and then it rapidly drops to late 60's. Would anyone else recommend wellies if your travelling to Scotland. Just incase they want to go off and do some sight seeing or see some the scenery Scotland offers?

i am going to tell her to take everything from boot to sandals! Now what should I be telling DH and DD to bring me back from their trip? I collect clocks so I thought a really nice clock would be a great gift. Jewelery?? Crystal?? Some thing nice as I am not going on the trip and I will be home with the other 2 children while they are traveling!!!

well where to start! he could always go to harrods in london and get you something nice! :rotfl2: stirling silver is nice for jewellery :sunny:

i perfer silver jewelery to gold and you can get some beautiful stirling silver pieces us here - especially if you like celtic designs. here is a site that has pieces that are made here in tain (that the small town i live in up here in the highlands!) www.tainsilver.com/
